The menu is ok, it has something for everyone, seems to be a cross being Zizzi's Pizza Express and Prezo with the added options of items from the grill. I decided to go for the buttermilk deep fried chicken thinking that I would get grey meat, two thighs or something along those lines which has been deep fired in a seasoned flour, what I go was flatted chicken breast filet which was very dry and had next to no taste, seems the seasoning from the flour was missing altogether, my meal also came with the strangest coleslaw I have ever had it was basically pickled cabbage and onion and the fried sweet potato was poor, the fries were soggy not crispy. So on the hole my choice was a poor one. The wife went for the wild boar pizza which was very nice and on the standard on a pizza you would get from Prezo, Pizza Express or Zizzi's. On the whole wildwood is ok but but the menu is not the best and what you seems worthwhile ordering you can get for the same price elsewhere, but if you want to try somewhere different give it a go.

He was drawn in by the massive sign saying "Grills, Pasta, Pizza" and I was a bit hesitant at first but after glancing at the menu we decided to try it. And I can honestly say it was the best decision I've made all year! I was initially put off by the decor but once inside I realised how nice and simplistic it is. Has a very old fashioned railway feel to it however it can be a little misleading, whenever I'd walked past it before I thought it looked like it wasn't finished being decorated and that no one was ever inside. The truth is I think it was the high ceilings that give it this impression. Anyway, we were served by someone called Nico I think (according to the receipt) and he was lovely, always made sure we were happy with our food and asked if we wanted recommendations, had lots of knowledge about the menu and extremely helpful. The theme of the restaurant is Italian but with a slight twist. We decided to have a starter which is unusual for us but we decided to share it between us so we wouldn't be too full. We had meatballs in tomato sauce with cheese and I have to say, I never knew meatballs could taste so good. I could have easily eaten a whole meal size of just that, the meatballs fell apart in your mouth and the sauce and cheese were both gorgeous. We were actually regretting only ordering one portion! My boyfriend then ordered Cannelloni with meatballs in bechamel sauce with Nico's recommendation and also told us what the ingredients were as we'd never heard of bechamel sauce before. I ordered a pizza that had peri peri chicken, mushrooms and rosemary. I was a little reluctant at first as I'm not really one for herbs but it was very subtle, not at all overwhelming and I was just sad that I couldn't eat more of it! I tried my boyfriend's cannelloni too and it was fantastic, and I'm not really keen on creamy dishes. One thing that I really liked was that even before our meals came, Nico gave us an extra plate as I think he'd gathered that we liked to share our food. We didn't even have to ask for one, it's nice having waiting staff that use their initiative. The only thing that I didn't like was that I didn't have room for dessert as the dessert menu looked fantastic! There was a really good variation, most restaurants have all similar desserts and a small selection but Wildwood had a fair few to choose from, it took us long enough just to choose our mains because everything looked so good. The atmosphere of the restaurant was fantastic too, everyone seemed really happy with their food and the restaurant itself is quite long so there were room for bigger parties. I think the only slight downside was our table was a little too small, I'd have liked a little more space but it wasn't something that was a major inconvenience. We had a good view into the kitchen too and it looked beautiful and well organised, you could see they had a good rhythm going and no one was getting stressed, all the staff seemed very happy which was nice to see. Overall we had one starter, 2 meals and one drink each for just over £35 which is an absolute steal considering the quality of the food. I've been recommending the restaurant to everyone I know and me and my boyfriend have said we'll definitely go again and want to make it a regular thing as we were disappointed we were too full to have dessert and we want to try everything on the menu!

I had heard a lot of good reviews about this place so finally decided to try it out this Saturday…read moreevening. Being on the very busy London road, it is definitely located in one of Leicester's prime locations. The restaurant is well known for its sizzlers ie. Sizzling steak being served on a hot griddle! It has become quite a common trend here with the steak being presented on a bed of hand cut chips, vegetables and rice. I opted for the Sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce. I love the variety of steak sauces/gravies they offer compared to other steak houses! These include garlic, schezuan, mushroom and gravy sauces - something to please anyones tastebuds! The Sirloin was described in the menu as one of the most tender pieces... I like my meat quite soft however, I found this quite chewy and very difficult to cut and eat. This was quite a let down and it was not just me who had this issue, everyone in my group also felt the same! Very disappointing. They only give a handful of chips and the rice is very basic... I have had this steak concept at other similar steakhouses in the vicinity and I have to say, this was a huge let down! We also tried the sliders platter which I loved as the sizes were perfect and we got to sample their three top burgers in mini versions. Flavour wise it was good but maybe due to experience, I expected better? Service was quite slow due to the restaurant being full but I found the waitresses all super friendly and helpful. I loved the fact that they served coca cola in the classic small glass bottles! Overall, I would probably return again but only for sliders or burgers. For steak/sizzler however, I will be sticking to the others as Kobe was also quite overpriced for what they serve.

We went on the opening night with the Burger Club free burger offer, so that may have biased me a little bit, but I loved it. The decor is minimalist but kinda fun, and despite the high ceilings the place is not as loud as you would expect. The burger meat was good and more importantly, it was cooked just how I ordered it (medium rare). I had the Byron, which comes with streaky American bacon, among the most authentic I've had since coming to the UK. I also recommend the Chilli burger if you like hot food, it's served with sliced green chillies and a chipotle sauce, and was very tasty. The onion rings were a bit greasy to my taste but the skin on chips were very good, as were the appetizer tortilla chips (a nice change from the Doritos everywhere else seems to serve) and the guacamole and salsa were both nice and fresh. The only other appetizer available beside the tortilla chips is olives, which are nice enough but oddly out of place. They serve A&W root beer, which while not my top choice in the US is still nicer than many. My boyfriend got the Oreo shake, which was nice and thick and very good as well. The brownie was very good and served warm with vanilla ice cream on top and the white chocolate cheesecake was also tasty, creamy and not nearly as sweet as cheesecakes have a tendency to be.

Zomgomgomg! Proper burgers have escaped London and are heading north!…read more Having been to Byron in both Bloomsbury and Covent garden on several occasions, I knew what to expect and was pleased to see that Byron has made the journey north without losing any of its quality and variety. This is a very welcome addition to Leicester Highcross, and is right next door to John Lewis for maximum accessibility. I love the rough-hewn, rustic, warehouse industrial-style decor with it's exposed AC ducting and wooden beams. The staff appear to be quick and efficient on first impressions, but do double-check your order as it can be quite noisy and you wouldn't want to be delivered a Peroni when you asked for a Dead Pony! There's a good variety of drinks including a really sour fresh lemonade and decent milkshakes. Beers and bourbons are well represented and there are several very nice craft beers of varying styles. And the food? Yes. Have it! Come! It's very, very good. But still quite a large portion. You do not need fries each as one just stretches between two. But you should skip the normal fries and try the courgette fries - they're very nice! Burgers are lovely sweet, juicy patties of quality meat. But please, don't spoil them by having them well done? A good burger should be cooked medium or ideally med-rare. Just ask for how you like it, they will do it. A look out for that juicy dill pickle too! Super tangy and crunchy, just how they should be. I can't fault this place after my first visit.
