So not a very good grocery store at all for the Port Arthur area. It's expensive and it's missing various things that I would want. For this reason I rarely come to this Market Basket when I'm in town, but they did have a couple things that we needed when we needed them, so we were grateful about that at least.

It's pretty bad and I'm not sure how they stay open. The only thing I recommend buying if you must go there is canned and frozen fruits and veggies. I hate going to this store but it's close & convenient. So I went again expecting to have the normal horrible experience. When i went to check out, I started placing my items on the belt. For some reason most checkers turn this off & on. Why? This checker didn't. Thoughtfully, she even raised the first few items up (so they didn't block the photoelectric sensor) so the belt wouldn't turn off & give me more room to put my items. I have NEVER seen this. I was impressed & started watching her. She scanned my items quickly and greeted me & was pleasant. She scanned the items on the belt in an effort to group certain items. Meats together, veggies together, etc... When the carousel was full she even put bags in my cart. I think she said her name was Jennifer Boyd. If management at this store wants to improve your numbers, HAVE JENNIFER BOYD TRAIN OTHER CHECKERS! or you can just let HEB take all of your grocery business. Everybody loves HEB because they value their customers. The worst checker I had had there was a big guy named Matthew! He literally just stood there and stared at me waiting on me to put the bags in my cart and informed me that they don't do that. 1 star without Jennifer

There are so many complaints on these stores its unreal! I honestly don't think anyone cares. This is not the first time I have contacted dollar general. Nothing has been done about it at any time. The worst part is, they're opening a brand new dollar General on the same road the other two are on just so they can trash that one too! You can't even get to anything in the aisles because they have carts full of boxes needing to be emptied blocking everything and everything is gone off the shelves because they NEVER stock! It's disgusting! It looks like someone went through the store and knocked things off the shelves into the floor. The people that work there are so lazy! I never see them stocking the shelves or trying to get the boxes out of the aisles. I can't tell you how many times I have walked in and walked out without buying anything because they never have what they're supposed to have on the shelves because once again they never stock! It would be so nice to be able to run into town and it only take 10 min to get what I need and get back home but no I have to drive all the way to Walmart which turns it into a 30 min trip! So yall are losing money to Walmart! I know I'm not the only person that has done this either so just think about how much money these stores are losing all because of the sorry employees yall have chosen to hire . Do yall even look over their resumes or do yall just hire the first person that walks in because yall are so desperate?? Seriously I would be completely ashamed if I managed this store but then again if I managed this store there's no way it would look the way it does! I would not put up with lazy employees! Yall are paying them to sit on their butts and do nothing! It's sick! Im sure this email won't get replied to because yall could care less about your stores. This is obvious!
