Motorcar servicing isn't a particularly exciting business service to write about, or read about,…read moreespecially for seasoned Yelpers more accustomed to visiting and reviewing latest hip bar, or dim sum street food outlet!
But I had to add a review for Peoples Ford, Livingston after first-class service last week, far above anything I've experienced in the motor trade. This review is purely for the Servicing / MoT side of the business, I cannot comment on their sales or aftersales service.
I ventured quite a distance to get my Focus serviced and MoT test here - largely on price. Ford's website can book scheduled services and add-ons with authorised dealerships and independents, and gives a pricelist for each location. Peoples (and an independent) quoted way cheaper than big-chain dealers such as Evans Halshaw (in fact, half the price). Having had a terrible experience with Evans Halshaw last year, I didn't hesitate to opt for Peoples.
After booking online, I received a call the next day confirming the booking. We discussed whether I'd need a courtesy car (free, £12 to insure for the day if own insurance does not extend to this), and confirmed the arrival time. The agent was friendly and professional, and ensured I had all the information needed.
On the day I arrived just before 9am, parked and approached the service reception where I was met with a smile and welcome. The chap quickly checked my car in, with the paperwork ready and waiting at the desk. He reminded me about Nectar points and free UK and European recovery, confirmed the price and promised to have the work done as soon as possible.
I wondered off to the nearby shopping centre and outlet mall and killed a couple of hours shopping, reading, and having a coffee. Just as I was about to venture to Wagamama for lunch, Peoples called to say the car was ready. On returning, my car was in the forecourt, sparkling clean.
On returning I dealt with friendly, knowledgeable woman. She presented the paperwork and explained each item. A vehicle health-check report , MoT test certificate, emissions report, stamped service logbook, service schedule, itemised invoice, confirmation of free recovery, Nectar points, and customer service feedback slip.
I paid, and let the staff know that their service had been first class, then drove off content in my gleaming car with new oil and filters, happy in the fact I'd paid ~£160 LESS than I'd have done elsewhere. Will be back next year.
