They put a lot of thought into making it a nice experience for kids, starting with a playset and toys in the waiting area to a take home prize machine thingie at the end. They are excellent at lip tie and tongue tie surgery (frenectomies). Without them we'd have to have driven all the way to Chicago to help our two girls (last time I checked). They aren't pushy at all though and only give information and let the parents choose what's right for their family. They also are fun for cleanings and regular things like that. They also helped one of my adult friends get their lip & tongue tie fixed, so talk to them if that's something you're needing help with. It's not covered by insurance, though they give you paperwork that you can submit after the fact if you'd like to give it a shot. All in all this is a knowledgeable, friendly place that puts great care into keeping their patients happy and healthy.

I've been taking my almost 4 year old to Crossroads since she was 1 and never had an issue. But…read morethis last appt, about a week ago, really left a bad taste in my mouth.. As many parents probably know, taking a young child to the dentist can be a bit of a struggle. Overall, my daughter has always done really well with her appts, but this last appt was different. I don't know what set her off, but she was NOT feeling it at all. She started to get upset the moment I set her down in the chair. The hygienist wasn't rude or mean, per se, but she was not helpful at all. At one point, in an attempt to get my daughter to cooperate and relax (I guess??), she was speaking to her in a pretty stern tone, saying over and over again, "Look at me. Look at me!" Well, obviously she wasn't going to look at someone she doesn't know from Adam, in a place she is obviously not comfortable, and I could tell this was frustrating the hygienist. Look, I get it, but that's not how you handle young children. She even threatened her by saying, "Your mom will have to leave the room if you don't stop acting like this. Do you want that??" And I was completely taken aback by this statement bc NO, I was not going to be leaving my scared child in the room alone with anyone, anywhere. I picked her up and got into the chair myself, placing her on my lap to see if that would help to calm her down (and mind you, she was NOT kicking and screaming or anything like that, simply crying and clinging to me). Well, that didn't seem to make a difference so the hygienist called in Dr. Kumar to see if she might have any luck. She was nice and welcoming, per usual, but she can be a bit loud and overwhelming to youngsters, in my opinion. So her booming voice did not help the situation. Once she saw that my daughter still wasn't going for it, she also told her that I would have to leave the room if she didn't stop! Like WTAF. She then suggested we try to have her lay her head in her lap so that she could TRY to quickly clean her teeth. She gripped my daughter's arms so tightly and tried to forcefully move her that it left a bruise on the back of one arm. She also called in a SECOND hygienist to try to help, making the total number of people in that tiny space 5 including myself and my daughter. That OBVIOUSLY just further overwhelmed her. Seems common sense to me, but do they not realize that having three loud adults speaking AT and hovering over a child is about that last scenario that will help with a child's comfort level? The dentist is already a less than desirable place for a child (and some adults!) to go so why not be a little more cognizant of this when approaching a child. That was about the last straw for me (others probably wouldn't have made it that far). I asked if we could just reschedule and they said that would be fine. LONG story short, we will not be going back to that practice. I understand that they are not specifically a pediatric practice but being a family practice, I would expect a little bit better "bedside manner" with the younger ones.

Words cannot describe how thankful we are to have found Dr. Janer. She has the heart of a lion because she truly cares about each individual who comes to her, no matter how challenging the situation may be. Our son needed a series of comprehensive x-rays in order to evaluate the situation. She and her team worked together successfully to do what others were not willing to do. She is one in a million. When I found Little Smiles in Cicero was the closest to our home within our new network, I took a chance and I can proudly say I love this place. The atmosphere is welcoming to kiddos of all ages (chalk in the entry for little ones to create on the sidewalk, tv with cartoons, kid friendly video games, and they even have a little castle in the waiting room) and the staff are incredibly friendly. I unfortunately had a headache while waiting for my childrens appointment to be done and the woman at the front desk immediately offered to turn off the tv for me to sit in silence. I was so thankful for her empathy! My younger kiddo does have a fear of the dentist and after expressing this, the staff made sure to accommodate my child's appointment and go at her pace. Dr. Janer was so sweet & even allowed my daughter to see her tiny dogs who are in the office as emotional support! I can honestly say, though changing dentists was stressful, I'm so happy we did because this office has been a wonderful experience. 5 stars all around!

We recently switched to this practice after not being thrilled with a pediatric dental practice…read morethat as just too too big and had really limited hours for working parents. Dr. Kugar's practice feels so much more personal--she actually knows the names of my 2 kids. We've already seen her for 2 cleanings and a cavity fill, which was a first for us. She was so gentle, kind and warm. My kids had no hesitation having her inspect their teeth and I felt 100% confident in her recommendations for dental care. The reception area is really cute, with a little house inside with a play kitchen. In the patient area she has a great set up that offers a tad more privacy compared to the more open-concept areas, which I REALLY appreciate. All in all, we LOVE it. I only wish we had switched sooner!

I just want to make sure people are aware of a situation they may face with this dentist office. I…read morehave taken all three of my children here since birth and all was great until this year, 16 years later. My son needed dental work on several teeth and we were quoted $1300 after insurance. I asked if we could only do the couple of teeth that are going to cause issues soon as to avoid such a high bill and worry about the other ones later. I was told that they would absolutely NOT adjust the work to accommodate my request and instead offered to take out more credit in addition to the care credit we currently have. I insisted and they refused, so we went for a second opinion. The new dentist not only offered to adjust a plan to fit our needs, but quoted us to do the exact same work for only $250. We didn't have to adjust our plan and my son got all the work done that he needed for $1050 LESS. Please beware and seek a second opinion for high costing dental work quoted at this office. $1300 versus $250 for the exact same work is rather suspicious and ridiculous to me
