When it was time to have the offending teeth removed, Dr. Mossup and Dr. Ericson's office took great care to make the experience as positive as possible. Over the years, they have seen me, my brother, and my husband at their office. I trust them completely! The staff (as always) was so helpful, patiently answering all my "mom" questions about how in the world the Dr. was going to remove my kid's teeth, and what do we feed him after the procedure, and how long will it take him to fully heal. I recently had my 2 lower wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Mossup and I cannot recommend him more highly. I experienced absolutely NO post operation pain, just a little bleeding and some swelling. Dr. Mossup also removed my 2 upper wisdom teeth about 7 years ago, with the same post operation results. Dr. Mossup meets with you personally before your operation to explain what is going to happen and to answer any questions. He also sees you after your procedure. His staff is very professional, helpful and friendly. As far as I'm concerned, you cannot do better than having dental surgery performed by Dr. Mossup! read more

My wife took my son to this dental office from a referral from dr. Thai dental office of hayward. Before donting any work my wife ask this office if we are going to pay any thing for the service they said NO, so they recommended that my son's molar to be taken out and it was going to cost us $1180.00. Which $216 is the co-pay from my insurance. The procedure calls for a nice IV and putting my son to sleep just to pull a molar out. So we seek a second opinion on the procedure, and I took my son to daily city dental office and they just did the root canal because the molar is a permanent toot. The Dentis in the in the daly city recommend to do the root canal coz my son is 9yrs old. So i did cancel the procedure at this office that will cost my $216 and my Insurance $1,180.00 for a procedure that is over killed of the process. Now i received this bill from this office stating that we have to pay $100 for consultation. But in fact we were referred to this office by a different dentist to pull that Moeller out. Either this two offices are in cahoots to ripoff people so I warn you sick second opinion if you go to this dental office. read more

I'm someone who absolutely despises doctors/dentists and is terrified of pain. Dr. Ericson and his staff made it extremely comfortable for me. I had my wisdom teeth removed and I've never been sedated before or had any sort of surgery, so I was extremely scared and nervous. I was literally pooping my pants, but once I was sedated, I was out like a baby. Pain afterward was tolerable. I didn't need the pain killers they prescribed. I'm very new to the area--I moved to Hayward 2 months ago from Maine. Due to the move, prior plans to have my wisdom teeth removed were canceled. All I ever received from prior oral surgeons were rescheduled appointments, non-returned phone calls, and one x-ray review that told me how horrible my teeth were and that they would be difficult and painful to remove with significant recovery time. Enter Dr. Ericson. Thanks to the reviews here on Yelp, I sorted out many other oral surgeons and called to schedule an appointment with Dr. Ericson's office, fully expecting a mess of referrals and a consultation appointment two months away. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that they did not require a referral. They easily worked with my insurance from Maine, and had me in a consultation the next morning. Dr. Ericson was clean cut, friendly, and showed the discipline that one would expect from an ex-army Doctor. The consultation was very educational, and I was fully informed about the risks and benefits in such a manner that was not frightening. Surgery could have been scheduled the following day if I had wanted, but my schedule didn't allow it. They were very flexible with dates and times, extremely pleasant to work with, professional, honest, and everything else one could possibly ask for. Three days after my surgery (I was put under, had all four wisdom teeth removed, two were impacted). I had an informative follow up and only the most trivial of residual pain, even without medication. I can not give enough praise to Dr. Ericson and his staff. I'm gonna start with, I am THAT person who has the BIGGEST fear of dentist and anything having to do with teeth in general... I have gone to many dentists over the years and now being comfortable finally with an amazing dentist in San Ramon (Dr. Thomas Reflections Dental Spa), I am getting a lot of dental work done. Because I have bad teeth from years of asthma medicine and avoiding dentists I needed some emergency oral surgery. I had a giant molar that had several root canals and a cap that had a post break and the tooth cracked, there was no saving it so that meant extraction. I was referred to a different oral surgeon but went to Yelp to find an oral surgeon that had good reviews and one closer to my home. After looking and having friends help, we came across Dr. Ericson... He had really good reviews and so I called for a consult. I came in to his office in Hayward and it's not super fancy but it's clean and comfortable. His staff is super friendly and nice... They did an X-ray and I got to meet with the doc. He explained that the tooth was extremely large and damaged but we don't really have any options to save the tooth (which has been saved over many years with this ultimate fail). His staff went over options for the surgery date and worked around my schedule because they knew this would be a tough recovery. The surgery went well and seemed super quick... Because my tooth was so bad and big, recovery was not quite as smooth but Dr. Ericson's staff have been amazing. I had my follow up a few days later and they showed me how to clean the hole in my mouth... I was not a fan of how gross the clean up part is and is going to be but they made me feel comfortable and calm through the whole process. I highly recommend this office for any oral surgery needs... I was looking for a Doctor that I could trust and feel confident with because she was only 9 years old. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Ericson's plan and experience. I had to get my wisdom teeth pulled recently and I was reffered to Dr. Mossop but my regular dentist. At my first consultation appointment, Dr. Mossop and his staff were very kind, and they explained the procedure to me in a way I could understand, and also so I wouldn't get too freaked out! His staff were able to figure out all of my insurance papers and were great about booking a date that fit with my scheduele. The procedure itself was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I had worked myself up about it before hand but his staff did a good job at calming me down. Aftercare has been good as well. My follow up appointment, Dr. Mossop's staff did a great job at telling me what i could and couldnt eat, and also what to expect in the following weeks to come as far as recovery. Dr. Mossop is hands down the best way to go if you are extremely nervous about having oral surgery. Im a huge chicken, I'll admit it. His staff is very nice and comforting, from the front desk receptionist to the nurses. I had a tooth removed and needed a valium just to get to the appointment (P.S.-valium dosent do anything to me) . I was in and out in no time. I didnt even realize I had surgery until about 6 hours after the fact. He's a great doctor. I actaully had two doctors for my surgery, Dr. Mossop and his good friend who was filling in for him. Dr. Ericson and his staff are all great! My daughter (who was 15 years old) had 8 teeth removed two summers ago and he took great care of her. At the end of her 6 weeks, right before she was to be cleared of specific foods to avoid as they can cause an infection, she got an infection which he took care of right away. A piece of food got caught deep in her incision because her incision from her wisdom teeth extraction was very deep. After he drained that, unfortunately she caught another infection on her other side of her mouth also at her wisdom teeth incision. It was nothing that he, or my daughter did wrong but rather how it can happen and does happen. He again took care of that by draining it and she was able to finally heal well. My other daughter (who is also 15) will be going to see him next summer to have her wisdom teeth extracted, too. Both of my preteen daughters have had to have teeth extracted for braces. They have both gone more than once and were not worried or stressed the second visit. They felt it was a painless process even getting the IV because he uses and ice cube to numb the spot before the injection. I received the bad news from my dentist that I needed a molar extracted and was referred to Dr. Mossop. I had previously been referred to another oral surgeon and was not pleased by the attitude of that one and the approach of having a tooth pulled being almost neurosurgery. They terrified me at that place and cost a fortune! Dr. Shimase or something like that in Castro Valley. Avoid them and go to Dr. Mossop for professional, down-to-earth care. He is gentle and understanding and his staff members are incredibly nice. The entire process was fast and painless. After care was excellent and he called me the day of the extraction, had me come in the day after, and had me call at the end of the week. Dr. Mossop has a calm professionalism that put me at ease and a sense of empathy that I felt was very sincere. I could not recommend him more highly and with more enthusiasm. read more

My daughter was referred by our regular dentist to Dr. Ericson for extracting two wisdom teeth. The experience was excellent from start to finish. I was concerned about swelling as I had had a terrible experience having four impacted teeth removed as a young adult and having two weeks of pain, bleeding, and chipmunk cheeks. But, with the current techniques and aftercare, as well as Dr. Ericson's professionalism, the whole process went very smoothly. Dr. Ericson and staff explained the process thoroughly. in a reassuring, yet not dumbed down manner, first during the initial exam, and later when the surgery took place. My daughter had lots of questions, which were handled with respect and care. The anesthesia, surgery, and so on went off without a hitch. I took time off to be there to help my daughter ice her jaw off and on as instructed and administer her pain and antibiotic medications (she was pretty woozy and would have had a hard time keeping the schedule going, plus we're talking strong painkillers which should be administered by an adult), had backup ice packs on hand, etc., and stocked up on movies and the liquid diet recommended by the doctor so she could lay on the couch and rest up. It helps that my daughter is a good patient and follows instructions to the letter. And, afterwards my daughter was great about using her syringe, saltwater, etc. to clean out the holes left by the extractions and at taking the antibiotics. If your kid is not so conscientious (I certainly was not at that age), make sure you are, as keeping up with the icing, medication and cleaning makes all the difference to keeping swelling down and the extraction sites healing up. That process goes on for about a month. Probably not a project to undertake if you'll be traveling or unavailable. read more

I had wisdom tooth removed 2 weeks ago. There was no videos, no nice attitude of Dr Mossop. Reason:I didn't want anesthesia for which he gets paid way more. IT was the most unpleasant experience in my life . The procedure of toot pulling was not that scary like his attitude and the the look of his office. His place is truly creeping with chair which looks like "death chair" nothing remodeled since 70's. I don't know from where those positive opinions about him...I am truly objective. My advise: this doctor is not a doctor , he only wants to make money. read more
