I have been with Dr. Wick for almost a decade, and was really dissipated about how he closed up shop. Guess this is just me complaining to no one, but if you ever plan on closing your practice here are some ways not to ruin your reputation: 1. Please don't offer a pre-payment plan and then retire, stealing from your patients. 2. Please at least cancel your standing appointments so patients don't show up to a closed office. Thanks. read more

Poor handling of office closure. no notice that an appointment in 2 days would not take place. When i got a person on the phone, it was obvious to me that they were closing up but i was given vague instructions about future course of action. When i contacted the new dentist recommended for a cleaning, i was told they could fit me in in a few months. Why should i have to wait 4-5 months for a cleaning when i am due an appointment now. read more

I cannot rave enough about Dr. Wick and his staff. I have major dental issues that I'm tackling and had been terribly embarrassed about how badly I needed work done. A friend who experienced trauma to her mouth and now has beautiful teeth recommended him. They have been nothing short of supportive and helpful in helping me to no longer look like a jack-O-lantern. The staff is knowledgeable about insurance programs and how to plan your care to address your needs while not totally breaking your pockets. When receiving injections and having teeth drilled, Dr. Wick is clearly experienced and I have not experienced a single bit of pain (have I mentioned I have a ton of work going on??). If you're scared, embarrassed, or concerned about figuring out the best financial route, this is a great office for you. They're reassuring, skilled and knowledgeable. read more

Went there today for the first time for a cleaning. I'd been to another local dentist and was totally underwhelmed at his 'bedside manner.' Dr wick Yelped really well and was nearby. I loved my hygienist. She was thorough and quick. Dr Wick came in at the end of my visit, told me he wasn't going to push me to do anything I didn't want to do. He made a couple suggestions which I could choose to get quotes for or not. I was in and out so quickly and being charged a very nominal fee. I highly recommend Dr Wick and his staff because, let's face it, taking care of your teeth is important, finding a dentist you trust is also important, a good dental experience is invaluable...give this office a chance is a smart decision. read more

A quick update on Dr. Wick's office: The practice has been sold to another dentist and they are having software problems retrieving patient information, which means that no one was properly notified of the office closing. It appears that Dr. Wick is now retired. Too bad, he was a great dentist! read more

Dr Wick and his staff are wonderful..... They always make time for EMERGENCIES, and I've had two this past month. I can't tell you what a wimp I am, knowing this though Dr Wick always uses a gentle hand and explains everything step by step. I highly recommend him. If your good you get a cookie on the way out :-) read more

I have been a patient for a few years. I have always had huge fears around dentists because of a traumatic experience when I was a child. I found Dr. Wicks office because it said that he worked with people that had dental fears. His staff is awesome, compassionate and understanding of my fears. Unfortunately when it comes to the doctor himself, it is another story all together. I went to his office for an extraction. I cannot afford the $1500 for a root canal and crown. Extractions are way more affordable. Which was upsetting to me. But I went ahead and let them hook up the nitrous. I did my best to not jump out of the chair for the first set of needles. But when he came back and started putting a needle into the roof of my mouth I totally flashed back to the back experience I had as a child. I reacted badly and told him to leave me alone and that I hated him. I swear on that tank of nitrous that I was a little girl at the moment and the fear I had as a little girl came out through clenched teeth at Dr. Wicks. This man took it personally and go all huffed up and walked away. I was told to find a new dentist! He couldn't have that in his office! Yes the office that says they will take your dental fear away! Ha! I apologized to no avail. So I went through all that trauma again for him to do nothing but act like a child? Really Dr. Wicks, why are you advertising that you help with dental fears if you cannot take the time to understand why a person would react like that? Then to add insult to injury he tells me to leave when he knows I have an abscess in my tooth, I have already been shot with a needle about 8 times, I am ready to do this. After all that I have to leave? His office staff was very upset and were understanding about my trauma. I wish he had taken the time to listen to why I acted that way. He has created nothing but more fear. And he caused pain that was not necessary. Then he sends me a letter saying he will work on any emergency dental work that I may need (what is the point?) in the next 30 days until I find a new dentist. That was why I was there in the first place, sitting in a chair, all numbed up and ready to go! Do not bother if you want a compassionate dentist who understands trauma and fears as he advertises. I have nothing good to say about his personal behavior. The staff deserves the credit for being above and beyond. Enough said. read more

Long time Yelper reader- first time reviewer. My experience was so stellar I was moved to write my first review for Doc Robert Wick's office. I'll begin with, dentist appointments make me nervous.I've had less than wonderful experiences with previous dentists and if that didn't add to my vulnerability I was 7 months pregnant at the time and new to the area (btw my app was just 3 weeks ago) The minute I got to Dr Wicks I felt taken care of. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. Mabel (the tech) was very gentle and did a great job- which is a first- all my previous teeth cleaning have been borderline painful/tedious. Dr. Wick took images of my molars and flashed them on a computer screen so he was able to easily explain his recommendations in detail without giving me that pushy I'm at the mechanic feeling. His office was very clear in itemizing payment and estimates- what my insurance would cover/what I needed to cover. Overall the entire experience was a breeze. I'm thrilled I found a great dentist. read more

A miracle worker! I am so grateful for his service! No real complaint except the biller made a typo resulting in $900 difference and they all of a sudden couldn't find the original.l estimate. Bit not admitting the error is just WRONG! read more

Agree with the last users comment. After going to Dr. Wick for over 30 years, he abruptly closed shop. I received a very impersonal letter 2 days before a scheduled appointment. Poor. Like the last reviewer; what a way to ruin your reputation. read more

Great staff their always friendly answer all my questions. Dr. Wick is excellent is extremely efficient and does clean work.

Update: Yesterday I was very nervous about having a wisdom tooth extracted. Dr. Wick and his amazing staff made me comfortable and more at ease than when I had entered the office, a nervous wreck! The extraction, with use of Novacaine, was painless and very quick and easy! I totally worried over nothing! I highly recommend Dr. Wick and his staff! read more

I was recommended to Dr.Wicks by my boyfriend and am so happy he did! The ladies in the front are so nice and sweet. My hygienist Bridget has the best hands! When she was cleaning my teeth she was gentle, did not make me bleed, or irritate my gums. read more

Robert Wick, DDS, was rude and argumentative today when my wife went in asking about a mouth infection she got after visiting his office for a teeth cleaning last July 18. We don't know if the dental instruments were clean enough and cannot say what was the cause of the infection. We only know the infection immediately occurred after their cleaning. She only wanted treatment and antibiotics. Instead she encountered finger pointing and a very unpleasant patient experience from a professional who should know better. We cannot recommend him to others because of this behavior. They are happy to take money when there is no problem but if you have a problem watch out. read more

I went to Dr. Wick's office again. The staff is still great. They treated me, and my five year old, very well. They went out of their way to make my son feel comfortable and even took out some coloring books for him to use during our visit. They were attentive to me and understanding of the fact that I brought my son with me. Later, I had a question about my bill and the office staff reviewed it and answered all my questions. I, still, highly recommend this dentist. I went home with a (clean) smile, a cookie, and toothbrushes for my whole family. :) read more

Robert put two crowns on my teeth, that should of two root canals, I paid out of pocket for one crown $800. Both teeth are infected and he says well I can send to the specialist. I was displeased with his attitude and unprofessional work habits. I do not recommend this dentist . read more

Went to Dr. Wick for some tooth pain off a recommendation from my wife, as she had found him when looking for a dentist that takes into account our dental fears. I am one that avoids dentist and he made me feel very comfortable, even with all the other work I'm sure I needed, he only focused on what was causing me pain. Unfortunately, we move away from Hayward shortly after, so we now have to find another dentist that really is non-judgmental, which isn't the easiest. I would of love to continue going to Dr. Wick for treatment! read more

Who knew that a dentistry practice could be so awesome ? Dr. Wick is professional, courteous, ON-TIME, straight-talker, and has a great dry sense of humor. Awesome ability to be both a businessman and a great clinical practitioner. The staff here are great and what really make the operation shine -- from the folks at the front desk to the dental hygienists. Everything here is First Class, a treat in America 2013 ! read more

One of the best dentists I have been to! He has one of the most thoughtful dental practices ever! When I showed up for my appointment the staff gave me a welcome gift and a welcome card that was hand written by Dr Wick. =) During the numbing process he administered just a little anasthesia and let it numb a little before injecting the full dose so it would be less uncomfortable for me. I had never had a dentist do that before.Great work and very thoughtful! read more

I haven't been to the dentist in over 6 years. My last experience was horrible that since then I've given myself every excuse to never step foot in a office for a long time.... Until my molar broke into pieces a few weeks ago. Didn't have insurance and was freaking out, they provide a flat rate dental insurance you pay yearly and is a great value. The staff and doctor have been nothing but accommodating and so reassuring. They never pressure you into doing anything you can't do, due to financial issues. My teeth feel better and healthier than ever! read more

I came here after having a bad experience at Smile Care. I told them that I had a bad experience and what the previous dentist had told me. Needless to say, I came in here super nervous not knowing what to expect. Dr. Wick and his staff are amazing! The ladies at the front desk are always so welcoming and the dental assistant was there to answer questions for me too. Dr. Wick examined my teeth and afterwards, I felt at ease. I've had to get some work done and have some more scheduled appts to finish off some work but I definitely recommend this place. My dad will also be going once he needs to go to the dentist again! read more

How I managed to make it to 25 before getting my first cavity, I'll never know; BUT I am so glad my colleague suggested Dr. Wick. His bedside(chairside?) manner was excellent and the office team were extremely helpful. An uncomfortable experience was made bearable and I found a great dentist. So worth the drive across the bridge! read more

Best Dentist ever! Referred another friend today. A friend who a big wimp at the dentist.

What an difference !! Previous dentist must of been from the middle ages. Dr. Wick and his amazing staff are an absolute God send. Got me in right away. Reviewed a game plan , was able to see them the following day for a nasty extraction. Super gentle and caring all of them. Welcome gift bag the first day, bottled water, clean office and wonderful follow up. I can't say enough good things. They are a top notch team.... Total class act. If you need a dentist this is your guy!!! read more

Staff are comforting, genuinely friendly & knowledgeable. Dr. Wick is the standard of what ethical & caring dentist should be. Yari took my X-rays & teeth cleaning. She offered me suggestions on how to better care for my teeth without making it seem like I have been doing a horrible job of doing so (like previous dentists). read more

A good dentist is hard to find. I had a terrible experience last year and I found Dr. Wicks and I feel lucky! He knows what he is doing and took the time to explain what was wrong to me and I'm not in the process of fixing what was done badly last year. I also mentioned that the place I went to last year wouldn't give me the nitric gas, that always makes me relaxed and I just close my eyes and let them do what they want. So when I went in for a cavity to be filled they gassed me up and I didn't freak out like I did last year with out the gas! I'm not scared of the dentist I just can't relax and him and his staff made me feel very welcomed and with the extra help of the gas I felt great! I'm so glad I finally found a new dentist to go to after searching for too long!!! read more

My sister found Dr. Wicks and told me how wonderful he is. I trusted her myself and went in to find that he was so much better than my previous dentist and the staff is amazing. Every person in that office is very easy to work with and is very helpful. I took my son who was scared to death and now he no longer fears the dentist. I highly recommend Dr. Wicks and Co. They are great, very personable and accommodating. The best part is...Dr. Wicks doesn't believe in pain!!!! Going to the dentist should not be painful. THANK YOU DR. WICKS!!!! read more

I have been going to Dr. Wick for two years. I trust him and feel that he has my best interest in mind. Dr. Wick has convenient office hours, as early as 7:30 am - which helps with my work schedule. I love getting my teeth cleaned here. I highly recommend Dr. Wick. read more

During my past two visits July and November 2018 have not seen Dr. Wick during my visits as he always does a follow up after cleaning or x-rays. Staff is almost all gone. Rumor is he has sold his practice and retired. Does anyone have any information to confirm this rumor? He is a fabulous dentist have known him for years, maybe he is ready for retirement? read more

I have had some bad experieces with dentists that have made me not want to go. I was referred from a friend to Dr. Wick.that he cateres to cowards well my friend was sure right. I have been seeing Dr. Wick for many years and have actually followed through with my dental procedures. Dr Wick and his staff make me feel very comfortable and un affraid and i was one of the biggest cowards when it came to dentist. They are awsome and i could it have done it without Dr. Wick and his staff. Thanks for all you do. Tracey V. read more

This review is on behalf of my husband. My husband really does not like going to the dentist. He is very fearful due to very poor experiences in the past. I told him he should try Dr. Wick' s office (I have been a patient for a very long time) So I finally convinced him to make an appointment. He went and he was so impress with the quality of service and the level of professionalism. He had a positive experience and was truly happy to get his teeth cleaned and his cavities filled. He told me that for the first time in his life going to the dentist was not painful and he was very happy with their service. Dr. Wick's office is our dentist of choice. By far the best at what they do. read more

Dr. Wick and his staff are all first rate! Dr. Wick has been my dentist for at least 25 years. If he was anything less than a fantastic dentist I would have found a new dentist a long time ago. Everyone in his office are also great from the hygenist to the office staff and billing dept. I credit the good condition of my teeth to the care he has provided over the past many years and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a dentist in the Hayward area. Thanks Dr Wick ! read more

I had an amazing experience coming here. Everyone was professional and very friendly. I also received a new patient gift bag with a toothbrush, mug and few other goodies. Will definitely be coming back! read more

The best. My teeth got cleaned by Mabel and I'm so impressed and appreciative of her skills. I mean, I'm a pack a day smoker and you know how bad my teeth could be. Since my last visit to a dentist in SJ a year ago, I decided to try a different one near my home. Everybody is friendly and professional. Dr Wick seems to be a very nice and gentle professional. Above all, Mabel 'really' cleaned my teeth, the superb dental hygienist I've EVER had. No kidding. She really cleaned them thoroughly without causing pain at all. I always hated going to the dentist but this one has given me a totally painless experience thanks to Mabel's service. Excellent. read more

Not sure were to start as this is my first time writing a review. I have never been a fan of the dentist and put off going until I found Dr. Wick's office. This is the first time in over 10 years that I stayed current on my dental needs! The ladies in the office are so friendly and welcoming. They have always taken the time to explain my treatment plan and even took the time to explain my dental benefits to me. I even took my 4 year old son and they took the time to hold his hand and make sure that he was ready to see the Dr. This is the first dental office that I have ever been to where I can say I felt like they cared about me and not just having my business. I can not thank them enough for all the kindness they have showed me. read more

Dr. Wick and all his staff are amazing. We have gone to him for the past 22 years and he is one of the best in the east bay area. We moved out of Hayward and still drive back just to see him and the staff for all our dental work. He is honest and trust worthy, unlike other dentist that are out for the money. As he told my daughters I will treat you like you were my own daughters. Excellent and very recommended. Thank you Dr. Wick and the staff for treating us like one of your family. read more

If 10 stars were allowed, I would give it. I have finally found my forever Dentist! Last night one of my permanent front teeth broke. I was freaking out. I called my usual Dentist first thing in the morning only to be told they didn't have time to see me (I'm a business professional and a missing tooth is NOT something I could deal with). I remembered seeing Dr. Wick's name on the back of one of our San Lorenzo Girls Softball teams jerseys (as a sponsor), so I googled his office. From the moment his staff answered the phone, I knew I was in good hands. They not only said they could see me right away, they assured me they could help. I literally walked out of that office 1-1/2 hours later with a temporary fix that looks so natural even my family didn't notice. I'm not a great patient and have anxiety through the roof. I promise you, If you're afraid of the dentist, haven't gone in a while, or worried it will be painful, Dr. Wick and his staff will surprise you. I haven't taken anything more than 2 Advil in the past 12 hours, no pain whatsoever. Best team ever! Thank you! read more
