1 STAR -- Extremely disappointed with the customer service at Batteries Plus in Stevens Point…read more I am extremely upset and disappointed with the way I was treated at this location today. Yesterday, I went to Batteries Plus to have a replacement car key and key fob made. Unfortunately, the store had no power, so the employee asked me to come back later. Instead, I called the store before making another trip. The employee I spoke with yesterday was very helpful. He confirmed that the power was back on, that they had the part I needed, and that although they were a little busy because they had been without power for so long, he could still take care of my key and fob. He gave me an approximate price of $175. I specifically asked if I needed an appointment, and he told me NO. I then asked if I could come back the following day, and he said that would be fine. So I came back today based on the information YOUR EMPLOYEE gave me. Unfortunately, I dealt with a different employee today, and the experience was completely different. When I explained what I needed, his response was, "You know they are so expensive." I told him yes, I knew the price because the employee I spoke with yesterday had already given it to me. He then told me that they do these services without an appointment. I explained that the employee yesterday specifically told me I did not need an appointment. His response? "That's a lie." I was absolutely shocked. I am the customer. I called ahead. I asked questions. I confirmed the price. I asked whether I needed an appointment. I followed the instructions I was given by YOUR employee. If there was a misunderstanding between employees, that is an internal problem that should be handled between employees. I should not have been made to feel like I was lying, stupid, or somehow responsible for their lack of communication. And it wasn't just what he said--it was his entire attitude and the way he spoke to me. I felt uncomfortable and disrespected standing there. At that point, I took my keys and left. I told him he was being rude because, honestly, he was. I completely understand that employees can have stressful days. I understand that stores can be busy. I understand that miscommunication can happen. What I DON'T understand is why a customer who did exactly what she was told should be treated with such disrespect. Your own store advertises key cutting, key fob replacement, and programming services, so I expected a professional customer-service experience. (Batteries Plus) Instead, I walked out feeling embarrassed, frustrated, and extremely disappointed. The way you treat customers matters. A simple, respectful explanation would have been enough. There was absolutely no reason for the attitude or for telling me that what another employee told me was "a lie." I will be taking my business elsewhere. $175 is not an insignificant amount of money, and I am certainly not going to spend it somewhere that makes me feel disrespected before I even receive the service. I hope management sees this review and takes it seriously, because this was not simply a misunderstanding about an appointment. It was a customer-service failure and an unnecessary lack of respect.

OUT OF BUSINESS…read more When a friend shattered their iphone screen and got it replaced in two days at Energy Cafe for $65, I was impressed -- until my own iphone screen shattered and I had a VERY DIFFERENT experience. They promised two-day turnaround and were unable to deliver after a week and a half. Poor service. They didn't followup at all. I had to call them to find out that they were overcommitted with 'shelves full of ipads, ipods and iphones' awating repair. When I called to check on status after two weeks: "Sorry that mailbox is full. Thank you for calling. Goodbye." Bah!

I had high hopes for the Energy Cafe when I first laid eyes upon it. Being a student here at UWSP I…read morethought "What could be cooler then a gaming lounge for me and my friends?" The answer, anything else. I received terrible service while I was there, not only did they not have half of the things on the menu, but the owner was googly eying my girlfriend the entire time we were there to the point where she said "I am feeling uncomfortable lets leave". There was an 'old stench' from the basement as if someone was living down there and not showering. When we finally got our drinks and game the system was having problems reading the game and the right bumper on the 360 controller didn't work and the X button was stuck in. Also on top of that finding out this week in the stevens point journal about the homeless guy having sex with a minor on the couch (that we were siting on!!) in that basement sickens me. Thankfully this story has a happy ending. After leaving the Energy Cafe we decided to stroll down main street and check out some other businesses. I stopped in the bookstore where the clerk told me I could get some great pizza from a place called Politos right down the street. On our way there was walked past a sign hailing "Tech Lounge" and as I looked inside my eyes went wide with excitement. There were figurines and cut outs and game memorabilia galore! I thought "This can't be true". Still disappointed from our first venture we decided to check it out anyways. As soon as we went in there was a 180 Degree swing from the Energy Cafe. There was cool Beatles music playing, a family and their two young girls playing rock band and a full family band with drums and all on the first Xbox 360, there was a group of teenage boys screaming as one jumped up and down in front of the TV as he was being revived in Call of Duty Nazi Zombies, and the place just felt alive. After speaking to the owners that were home grown in Stevens Point and couldn't have been nicer, I ordered probably the best Mango Smoothie I've ever had in my life, and they set me up with some good old Super Nintendo play, before getting myself into some Gears of War. I couldn't say anything bad so far about them. Decent prices for play, free wifi for customers just hanging out having a coffee or enjoying the afternoon, great customer service. Sorry Energy Cafe you have lost my business.

I took my ailing terminal to Zaxx's to get the work done. I fully expected the work to take more than a day because I got there late in the morning. To my surprise, I received a call less than 5 hours later telling me that my computer was ready for pick up!! The personnel at the shop is friendly and courteous; and my bill was exactly the same as the estimate. Zaxx's is a top-shelf repair shop!!

To my surprise, not only were they reasonable, but they threw in a few minor freebies to help me and my family out. Our household has six computers between us and with younger children using them, I spend more time at Zaxx than I would like. But, they are always accommodating, making sure I get the very best out of my warranties and always making sure the repairs are permanent fixes. Finally, when my home office computer began to shut off without warning, they worked with me to make sure that not only did I have a replacement, but all my important files for work were transferred over. All for an unimaginably low price. My desperation over the loss of my ability to work in this economy didn't bring me to tears, but their unexpected kindness and sincere desire to help me, did. These guys TOTALLY rock! :)

First thing Monday morning, I received a phone call with a breakdown of what the issue was and if he could order the part and what the price would be. I am more than satisfied with my interaction with this business and the gentleman. He treated me like a valued customer even though it was my first time. Even with coming in so close to closing time I felt like I was a priority and received immediate attention. Very professional and pleasant the whole time. Great business. I will be coming back.

It's disappointing that he can't do small stuff; especially given that the chip in question is downright huge by the standards of phones and such; but I'm giving 4 stars anyway because he didn't attempt to do something he couldn't, destroying my parts in the process. I still have my parts and can send them to someone that specializes in the small stuff, and that's actually one of the better results I've had with local soldering shops. I wouldn't bring him anything too intricate, but he would be my first stop for something easy like a TV.
