Friendly customer service. I went to get a bike serviced and they were transparent and patient to walk me through the process. When I decided to put the funds towards a new bike instead, they were thorough and helped me find what I was looking for in a bike. When I had questions about the bike, they joyfully addressed every question I had. Everyone there brings a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend them. read more

I have balance issues and thought I would never bike again but the people at the shop helped me find a trike that works for my needs. I love it. They were very attentive to my bodies needs. Great people who really care. read more

I can't say enough good things about the Hostel Shoppe ! Sales manager Chris and the entire sales team and service department are friendly, knowledgeable and super competent . Well worth the drive from Madison ! Thank you all so very much . Larry Gray read more

The selection is fantastic. Prices - I guess par with other shops. The sales person was friendly, patient and helpful. 5 stars. Bringing the trike back for routine maintenance a year later - I'd give 1 star to the service department. I'll take my trike elsewhere from now on. read more

I received a message that my order would be delivered between 2:15PM and 4:15PM on a particular day. I was out of the house and returned home at approximately 1:30PM in anticipation of delivery and received another message that the package had been delivered at 12:44PM. The package was nowhere to be found. I checked my doorbell video and discovered that the package had been stolen at 12:57PM, which is not within the delivery window I was given. I ordered directly from Hostel Shoppe since Amazon did not carry the item I ordered. When I do order on Amazon, the delivery people place the package at the back door as I have requested of them, but this UPS person put the Hostel Shoppe delivery on my front porch in full view of the street and did not photograph the delivery as is usual with Amazon deliveries, and also did not ring the doorbell. It is very upsetting to me to have lost this $269.23 order. I often order items over the internet and I rarely have delivery problems however, two packages have been stolen from me in the past: one from Amazon and one from B&H. In both cases I was reimbursed, no questions asked. I would have thought that Hostel Shoppe would make good on the theft, since it was their delivery service that was to blame for delivering outside the time window I was given, but they refused to do so. I would think twice before I order anything from Hostel Shoppe. They have extremely bad customer service. I will not purchase items from them again! read more

The sales and shipping department were good, but I can't say that about the service department. The disc brakes on the recumbent that was shipped to me were not properly adjusted. I don't believe the trike was adequately tested before it was sent. The subsequent help from the service department was minimal. read more

I ordered seat struts for my recumbent on August 22, 2017. I paid for priority mail shipping. They said my parts should arrive three to four days later. No biggie. They did NOT ship them when they said they would. I received an email from Stamps.com stating my package was being shipped from their facility on November 7, 2017 and would arrive in a few days. This is not the kind of customer service I expected from a company that deals with recumbent bikes. We are a very loyal group, and I just expected them to keep their word. I may do business with them in the future, but I will expect better service. read more

I'm a quadriplegic. I can't walk, but I can ride a bike. I saved 10,000 dollars for a bike. 10 months later I do NOT have all essential parts to ride the bike. This has been the most unpleasant transaction I've ever experienced, in my life! I'm disappointed and disgusted with the Hostel Shoppe. They are nice on the phone but nice doesn't get it done. read more

I drove from Michigan to Wisconsin to purchase a greenspeed Aero they set it up and a test drive I took it home had a few minor problems But to my surprise they took care of every thing Even though I live in Grand Rapids Michigan absolutely awesome people to deal with In the future if I purchase another bike They will be my first choice to do so Thank you Scott, jessie and ann read more

My wife and I drove here to check out a tandem recumbent. The experience was as positive as we've ever had at any store. Scott spent 2 1/2 hours with us explaining every aspect of the bike (not too much information, most of the time answering our questions). He had us take a test ride (after making sure we were comfortable on the bike) - and even took us on a tour of the assembly area. Want a recumbent, regular.bike, clothing, fat bike, winter sports gear? Be sure to check out this store! read more

The best bike shop in America!! I've never been in the actual store because I live in Michigan, but I've spoken to Rolf (the owner) and Jessie (sales) on numerous occasions about technical questions because I don't trust my local Recumbent dealer, and they've always been very helpful and pleasant to speak to. They truly care and provide excellent customer service. I've purchased some accessories from them and their prices are fair and shipping is fast with excellent packaging to protect the items inside. In late October, 2018, I purchased a new ICE Sprint for my wife and spoke to Rolf about swapping the crankset out for one with shorter cranks to provide heel clearance and to protect my wife's hip and knee joints as she is a bit short for the standard 170 MM cranks (I learned about this issue from Rolf's excellent YouTube videos). He explained the advantages of swapping the cranks and quoted me a very fair price to do so. He then transferred me to Jessie to complete the ordering process. Jessie was very knowledgeable and helpful and had my order completed quickly even though I had to call my bank to get my daily spending limit increased. (Who knew that your bank puts a daily spending limit on your card?) After the order was completed, I received an email from Ann (shipping) that provided incredibly detailed information about the shipping company with their contact information and tracking information, and instructions on carefully examining the box for damage and the process if any damage was found. When the trike was delivered, it came in a box that was carefully designed and constructed to protect the fully assembled trike inside. That box must have been built by a structural engineer! Ann and her team made sure that the trike would arrive in pristine condition. After removing the trike from the box, I found an expertly assembled trike which performs flawlessly. Rolf, Jessie, Ann and everyone at the Hostel Shoppe deserve a ton of praise for creating an amazing customer experience! I purchased my trike from my local dealer (terrible experience), but when I ride, I always have business cards and catalogs from the Hostel Shoppe to share with anyone interested in Recumbents or Recumbent Trikes. Like I said earlier, they are the best bike shop in America!! read more

Great sales people that helped my wife and myself pick the right recumbent bikes for us. They answer all our questions and had everything there we wanted to add to our bikes. read more

Very friendly staff helped me set up my tubeless tire. Nice store, with good selection. Appears they specialize in recumbent bikes.

I drove 7 hours from St Louis to buy my recumbent tricycle from them. Their customer service was great. They spent an entire day with me after numerous phone calls and emails setting up the trike for my needs. I came back for the thirty day check-up and again they spent time helping me and showing me how my new accessories worked. Scott and Jessie were particularly helpful. I will be back before my overseas trip to have my trike setup checked. I wanted to spend money to solve some concerns I was having but they told me how to fix them without just selling me something. I really appreciated that. read more

After 4 years had a major issue/defect with my recumbent trike frame. The owner called the manufacturer, and in less than 2 weeks I received a brand new complete replacement trike. They were happy to help. Perfect customer service. read more

I've bought several items over the phone or on the their website and have asked a few technical questions. This shop is top of the line.

Seemed like a decent shop, my dad bought all of his bikes from there for himself and me and my siblings as a child ($600+ each). I went there to feel out some prices for a bike for my girlfriend. I asked if there were any available for around $200, willing to spend up to $400. When I asked "do you have anything available for around $200" the employee or owner scoffed and replied "no, nothing even close to that" and walked away. Terrible guest service. She acted as if it was a waste of her time to provide me with basic assistance. I will be certainly be taking my business and advising others to take their business elsewhere. Would of expected far better service.... my father alone has spent upwards for $2,000 at the business within the last two decades. I went to Trek and Campus Cycle today as well. Compared to the Hostel Shoppe, at Trek and Campus Cycle I actually received excellent and kind customer service. Goes to show that the Hostel shoppe only cares about making a sale and not the customers satisfaction. read more

Had a couple xc skis in for tube up. My son brought in his snowboard and the salesman talked to him like a fellow snowboarder not a child. Excellent customer service and honest help. Not intimidating at all! read more

Not a great experience. I went to buy a new bicycle. Planned to spend $5500. I walked in, wasn't greeted by anyone, did not see any employees. Walked around a bit, saw guys in service, all seemed nice. They got a customer service guy to help me. Looking at Specialized road bikes. Some nice options on stock. An older gentleman came around, tried selling me on a recumbent, I told him I didn't want one. He was adamant on telling me why they are better. If they are better why do regular bicycles dominate the market? Finally got him off my back, rode a few bikes and left without buying. I get the feeling this place will take your money on the sale but afterwards you are nothing to them, just a number. Older guy rubbed me wrong. read more

Went there for snowboarding gear and they had a lot of really old stuff that wasn't even discount at all. You can tell they are definitely just focused on the bike section which is probably what they should focus on. Someone else mentioned to me MC Sports or Central Boad Shop for stuff. MC Sports was just a generic store like duhnahms for gear but they had the usual popular snowboard stuff. Central Board Shop was an actual skateboard/snowboard shop and was a lot more helpful. Ended up getting a really cool board and some cheap boots there. read more
