Misrepresentation/Deceptive Billing - Filed Insurance Claim but Hid an "Internal" Cash Charge…read more Be extremely cautious if you are an out-of-network patient here!!! During my visit, I was charged a fee that the front desk explicitly told me was my "Out-of-Network Copay." However, after checking my insurance statement (EOB), I discovered that while the clinic did file a claim with my insurance, they completely omitted this charge from the claim and kept it as a separate, undocumented transaction. When I questioned them, they changed their story, claiming it was just an "internal code" charged to all out-of-network patients. Masking a private, arbitrary office fee as an "insurance copay" while deliberately keeping it off the official claim submitted to insurance is unethical and deceptive. Patients deserve full transparency, not mislabeled fees and unbundled billing. I strongly advise checking your EOBs and asking the purpose of payment carefully if you visit this practice.

Yesterday my little one knocked his tooth back in gymnastics class and it was after 5pm and I tired to call to see if they were still there and got Vm and I hung up. Immediately I got an auto text saying were you trying to reach us? You can text us with your question and we'll reply. So I explained the issue, and about five mins later I got a text from the dentist asking for more info and pictures. I text those back and he called me and gave me his recommendations on what I should do and what to expect and scheduled to see him the next morning at 8:30am. I was freaking out because my son was so upset and this made me feel so much better and I appreciated it so much. Today I went and he got an xray and got seen by the dentist and we were advised of follow up procedures and what to expect in the coming weeks. The office is clean and inviting for the kids. The front desk staff and the hygienists and the dentists are all very kind and caring. After my experience in the past 24 hours, I'm even more impressed with them. Thank you for taking care of my son and setting my mind at ease.

I thought that was strange, my 8 yrs old never had cavity always have his regular check ups and last xray was done at previous dental office 6 months ago. Now coming to this new dental office, he didn't start with seeing the dentist to see maybe there is something questionable that needed xray to confirm but ordered xray to be done by the door as if it was getting a temperature?! Of course I denied it and was asked to sign a no xray waiver. I can't help questioning this clinic protocol on pediatric radiation protection, and I will speak to the floor manager over this issue.

I feel sad updating this after being a long time BAKD family. When we joined in 2019, we had an…read moreamazing experience. Staff was warm and kind and our kids always looked forward to going. Over the past two years, we have noticed significant change in how the BAKD Santa Clara office was run. On more than one occasion, the dental staff were reprimanded by the lead dentist (Dr. Radwan) in front of us, making us feel super uncomfortable, even when our hygienists had done a good job. We also had Dr. Radwan suggest a cavity filling and sealant for one of our kids. We took the day off of work and our daughter missed school to get to the appointment, only to be told that day that actually she didn't have a cavity that needed to be filled, and that they needed to look at the X rays again. On top of everything else, BAKD no longer accepted Delta Dental, and it became the patients responsibility to pay upfront and then get reimbursed and manage the go betweens of insurance and the dental office. We have since left BAKD and continue to get automated appointment reminders and billing requests, even when we have not been enrolled in over a year. When we call, it goes to voicemail and no one returns our call.
