Also, I asked for upfront pricing as I do not have dental insurance, and the price was different at the end of the visit from what was quoted. I decided to give them another try, but the cleaning was just as quick, plus they gave me a really hard time about only wanting a cleaning with a hygienist and not getting x-rays or an exam by a dentist.

He's also an asthma kid whose inhalers were creating more issues. At that time, they set up multiple appointments and did fillings without insisting on sedation or even gas. Fast forward to now and all has changed. We started having problems after starting ortho last fall. No issues with Dr. Wally as of yet. He seems fine, but we asked to skip x-rays during one cleaning visit because my son had a ton of them just a few months before for ortho. They refused to see him and we had to reschedule his cleaning. When they convinced us to come back and agree to X-rays because we couldn't move forward with ortho until we did, they found a couple of small cavities that were visible. We agreed to get them fixed, and set up an appointment, but they automatically added nitrous to the plan. I let them know I wasn't comfortable with the gas and that it seems overkill for a 10 year old that sits just fine for procedures. The doctor wouldn't make any promises on not requiring sedation (IV or gas). So, now we are taking my son to my dentist who will no doubt fill those tiny cavities with a bit of numbing. I am not sure why they insist on the excessive treatment that creates greater risk other than profits and possibly making the job extra easy on them, but it is absurd. They even admitted that other countries don't do as many x-rays when I brought it up. The drugs too are no joke, and at least the nitrous was not covered by insurance. I wish we hadn't started ortho here and they are quick to remind us that there are no refunds. In general another example of all that is wrong and broken in our healthcare system.

This experience has been phenomenal for the 7 years I've been with Dr. Aaron…read more I came to him in 2018 after being neglected by my oral surgeon, who had placed two implants, and the dentist who had done the crowns. I had suspicion something was going on as one was wiggling. Dr. Aaron jumped on it and was able to identify malpractice and addressed the offending surgeon (Dr. Vaina of IVOMS in Peru, IL) to have it corrected. I went back to the offending surgeon (due to cost reasons and giving him a chance to fix it) and about 6 surgeries later, I was even worse off. Dr. Aaron investigated and created a course of action, which involved referring me to a new surgeon, Dr. Frank of Northshore Smile Surgery, who proceeded to perform a miracle to restore my gums to full health. Dr. Aaron created me a temporary fix to keep my teeth in place which held me in tact for five years. In October 2024, despite living in another state, I called Dr. Aaron and let him know the remaining implant was showing really bad signs and he confirmed my thoughts and told me to come in that week to have it addressed. I traveled 10 hours to see him and he was incredibly thorough and sensitive in handling the issue and it was deemed I had to go back to Dr. Frank to correct more malpractice from the offending surgeon at IVOMS (Dr. Vaina). Dr. Aaron set me up in a temporary bridge to help keep the aesthetics of my gums in tact and so as to not leave me toothless in the front as a young woman and bride to be. After the two month healing period, he squeezed me back in his schedule as I traveled 10 hours to see him again through Michigan winter madness. After 8 years of pain and trauma from other providers, Dr. Aaron took care of me at the highest level. He was the only one willing to identify and tackle this complex and heartbreaking nightmare, he handled each step over 8 years so tactfully and was truly invested in not only my business, but genuinely cared about my well being and wanted to see me find my dream smile. Dr. Aaron has truly gone above and beyond for me in every single aspect of my care for almost a decade, every dentist should be at his level. His sense of ethics, his personality, his attention to detail, his level of care... he's second to none. As a former dental professional myself, after working with him, it makes me never want to go anywhere else the rest of my life. The rest of the staff is fantastic too! Occasionally the other doctors would get involved in my case and were always very direct and clear while showing empathy for the situation. The front office staff and manager Kathy are wonderful and really helpful, always making sure to give any information needed and working around my wild schedule being out of state. The assistants are all fantastic and incredibly personable as well, I've always enjoyed each one I've had and have been pretty consistent faces over the years! You can't ask for a better dental office from start to finish. They even have a service dog on site, which has been amazing through something that's been traumatic to go through and recover from. I wouldn't be here tonight with my dream smile if it wasn't for Dr. Aaron saving me from malpractice from another office. After hating my smile my whole life, I can finally feel confident (and eat again)!

I explained the problem I had with my teeth, that my jaw hurts when I move it and he said "Maybe you shouldn't move your jaw so much then," and laughed and laughed as if it was supposed to be funny. I wasn't laughing, fool. Not to mention the extremely inconvenient location in Buffalo Grove. It's one of those doctors' offices completely hidden from view; I drove past at least four times before I realized I was supposed to make the turn because there is literally no sign indicating his office or anything like that which is visible from the road. I hope they resolved that issue by now. For someone who does not nor ever will live in Buffalo Grove, where God left his underpants and didn't go back to pick them up because Buffalo Grove was too much of a pain in the ass to get to, service has to really blow my doors down for me to make a trip out there. Especially for something as miserable as going to the dentist. Oh Dr. Morris. If only you were a little nicer and a lot less pleased with yourself you would have had a regular patient in me. Maybe in your next life you should be a comedian.

I've been going there for about 13 years now, and somehow those eight "cavities" have never appeared in their exams. Dr. Shiffman is the best dentist I've ever had. He replaced a couple of old amalgam fillings for me, and he did exemplary work on a crown I needed in an emergency when a corner of one of my molars broke off. He did great work on the fillings I needed due to some gum recession. He's so personable and wonderful that even though 12 years ago I moved to a different suburb that's 30 minutes away, I still come all the way back to Buffalo Grove for dentistry. I've had the same dental hygienist, Lana, the whole time I've been a patient there. She is marvelous. Honestly, Lana is a big factor in my decision to continue to drive all the way to Buffalo Grove twice a year to get my teeth cleaned. I feel like I'm visiting an old friend when I see her. The entire staff there is very friendly and helpful, and I haven't had a bad experience there even one time in 13 years. Plus, I am 42 years old, and I get compliments from people on my *teeth.* If that's not a ringing endorsement, I don't know what is! I may have bags under my eyes and crow's feet, but my teeth look fantastic!! :)

Today's metal braces are smaller, more comfortable, and better looking than they have ever been. A combination of brackets, archwires, and elastic bands are used to straighten the teeth. Patients can feel free to express themselves with the fun, brightly colored elastics that can be switched every visit. Ceramic Braces An alternative to metal braces, ceramic braces are made of a clear material. Since they are translucent and less noticeable on your teeth they are popular amongst older teenage and adult patients. The drawback to ceramic braces is that the brackets are larger and more fragile than the metal option.
