Ok, got to Penn Station on Amtrak, called for complementary shuttle...they don't go to Penn Station, should have gone to BWI station, would have been nice to know ahead of time....$50 Uber ride to hotel...sooo got to room, curtains are broken, won't close, see photos...bathroom wall is broken apart, again, see photos...DEFINITELY complaining tomorrow, just didnt have the patience after beeing up 18 hours...won't be coming back, will stay down the road, better hotels if i need to return to the area...staying here because conference is here...worried how the conference facilities are going to be....stay tuned...

This is a bit of a hard review to write. How do you explain what this place is let alone how your experienced it. I suppose that all depends on why you were here in the first place. Unfortunately for me I visited during the time of COVID. Which probably dampened my experience here. I will be honest with you, driving up to this place is confusing. Especially if you have never been here before. You feel like you are driving into the wilderness or on a backroad in some very rural area. Now that you are disoriented a bit, bam, let's hit you with a barrage of buildings on a sprawling campus. If you are here for a conference and are staying on property it is a bit confusing to find the "main" entrance. I think I need to explain something here. Maritime is a combination of things. But most importantly it is a school, geared towards those in our military that work on the water, hence the maritime in the name. Second it is a Conference Center. Third it is accommodations. Convenient when you want to hold a conference that is for sure. This place is laid out much like a college campus and it appears to be used by locals for an area to get some walking/exercise in. Location wise it is pretty easy to get to. About ten minutes from the Baltimore Airport, close to major highways, and two access points to the campus. There is a shuttle service that they provide that will take you to the airport and/or train station nearby. However, until things are lifted, the shuttle service is not in working order due to social distancing. I suppose I should touch on something here as well. If you need an item, there is really nothing around to go grab quickly, you will definitely need to call an Uber or something to that effect. Or prepare yourself for a hefty walk. As for the Conference Center portion of this place, it is HUGE. Tons of space to hold a very large conference with loads of rooms for breakout sessions. I believe each room has a setup where you can hook up equipment to allow for video conferencing and microphone capabilities in most rooms. Multiple entrances in and out of these buildings can get you turned around a bit, but it was great to know that you do not have to walk a hallway that felt like it was never going to end all the time. The accommodations, yeah, let's talk about that. There are two towers here that serve as the accommodations. That being said they are in need of a major overhaul. Much of this place outside the lobby area looks very dated. The hallways to the rooms has this eerie feeling to it, like you may be in an older movie. The rooms themselves, yeah, I wasn't much of a fan. The bed was a little too firm for me, almost sleeping on the ground while camping. The television wasn't so bad, when it didn't go out. The closet in my room was a bit rough to open. The bathroom served its purpose, but you can tell that they did a real quick update in there with the shower stalls. Did not even attempt to match the tiles on the wall. But the noise was the worst. The walls were thin, I could hear my neighbors on both sides each night, and sometimes their tvs. I also got a lot of noise from outside, you don't realize how close you are to the highway with all the foliage around, but you are extremely close. The WiFi was shoddy at times. There would be times that I had no problems connecting and ran several devices off of the WiFi. But it also depended on what building you were in and how deep in that building you were in. I noticed that the building that had the conference rooms was hit or miss. Food wise, I was not a fan in the least. I was told that they use to have a cafeteria style set up, but because or restrictions they had to limit what they had and served it to you. That meant that there would not be much variety. I kind of got tired of the food, when I could eat it. It did not vary much while here, beef, chicken, fish. A lot of it was either bland or over seasoned. But I have a feeling that if I were here when there were multiple selections I would be singing another tune. I do have to say that they do provide loads of snacks throughout the day to supplement if you did not happen to partake in a meal. Other things to note here, there is a small business center in the lobby area and I noticed throughout the buildings as well. There is a bar on premise, but it is limited in both time and libations. Smoking areas outside. Covered area being the towers and conference building in case of bad weather. Ample onsite parking. Pool and gym.

I could hear "beep, beep, beep" from outside as some industrial vehicles backed up or whatever they were doing. I finally fell back to sleep, from exhaustion, about 3;30AM. The noise never abated, a downer. The sleep interruption defeated the purpose of my stay. I was catching an early flight and didn't want to be tired by getting up at the crack of dawn. Instead I had a miserable sleep night here. Your sleep may not be interrupted if you are on one of the other 3 sides of the hotel. The shower in 534 was nice, a walk-in no tub, with good water pressure.Breakfast starts at 6AM. The service was fast and the food was good. The rooms still have a mini refrigerator & microwave.

I stayed at Hilton Garden Inn BWI Airport for a day while waiting for a few other people in my…read moregroup after flying into BWI. While I found the room to be decent, I found the hotel to lack proper amenities. First, when we arrived at BWI, we called the hotel for the "free shuttle" to the hotel. The staff was borderline rude and not so communicative. They just told us to go wait at certain door (and not the hotel pickup location at the airport). I came to find out later that their shuttle was broken, so the hotel ended up booking individual Lyft ride for everyone of their single guest to/from the hotel. So, when this was not properly communicated clearly to customers, it caused a lot of confusion when trying to find out where to get on a vehicle/what to look for when trying to get to the hotel. This should be communicated more clearly. Second, the communications from the hotel had been horrible. Staff who picked up the phone (before arrival and at time of check in) had been rude. there was no introduction of their name and the hotel's name. It was more like Hello...what are you calling us for sense of feeling! Third, I asked for specific check in instruction as my checkin timeline was a little weird due to the redeye flight I was taking. I was told they would take care of it and I was taken care of...but right before my flight took off to BWI, I had an inkling feeling, so I called the hotel to confirm my stay and ability to check in. Turned out, nothing about my communications was relayed to the team and if I hadn't called ahead before my flight again, they would likely cancel my accommodation. What a disaster. Lastly, the hotel lacked proper amenities. There was no restaurant operating and the hotel area wasn't really walkable, so it was hard to get some food...you'd have to do ubereats/doordash things to get food to you. Personally, I picked this hotel because of the credit card features and the hotel status I had with Hilton. But, if I had a choice, I would personally check out other hotels first.

Once in the room, I was a bit more pleased as everything was a bit more modern. Lots of outlets which was nice. The lighting could have been better as trying to find a place to use the Iron and ironing board was difficult. The middle of the room was best, but there were no outlets nearby. Also, the TV angle was just weird from the bed. The pillows were atrocious, which seems to be a thing with these hotels lately. I have to make a stack like I'm an IHOP Chef just to get a bit of support. I'm tired of waking with a sore neck, especially if it's because of the pillows. 1 Star Pillows! All 4 of them sucked! Just get one or two good ones for my head and I can put my hands between 2 cheap pillows. Also, In the morning when checking out, the lady running the front desk was also the one working the coffee counter. So there was a bit of a wait to get my receipt. Nothing great and nothing terrible besides, the pillows. It was what I expected.

Same setting, full hot, full cold, full hot on a 90 second cycle 5) The entryways smelled like piss. 6) The bar drink and food prices are absurd assuming you can find something fit to eat. Fortunately, there's a Ruby Tuesday just down the street.
