Generally, the closer a restaurant is to the sea, the better the seafood. Right? Not so- because at least three restaurants we visited within spitting distance overcooked their shrimp or undercooked the rice in paella while in Mallorca. We HAD to recalibrate. We intentionally traveled a little over an hour from where we stayed in the southeastern town of Ses Salines and planned our day around the town of Port d'Andraxt because we were particularly taken by the grilled seafood platter we'd seen online.
M. Galicia sits plenty and as you continue looking around, you'll notice their tall, clear glass refrigerator filled with crustaceans and fish for all your needs. We wanted seafood and seafood is what we got. Our boquerones (fried anchovies) were wonderful and that squirt of lemon really adds a refreshing taste. The showstopper was our €130 grilled seafood platter with Jonas crabs, 2 lobsters, razor clams, crabs, cockles, etc.
The cooks here, take their kitchen skills to the next level by PERFECTLY grilling the crabs, lobsters and shrimp. Ever been to a restaurant and get an overcooked crustacean with a mushy texture shell that doesn't even CRACK?
When you take the claw cracker at M. Galicia for the crabs and lobsters, that 'snap' and 'crackle' sound is what you want to hear- and you do!! The result was a terrific crisp shell. These folks definitely know the art of grilling seafood. Service was great from Joni (Jonathan) and will be in for a treat when you come here.. read more
