When you're Lakeside, if you're like me, you want some delicious seafood. But just not any seafood, tasty, clean and from a trustworthy source. Mariscos Lety is your place! I recently came here and everything was delicious let me tell you what I ordered! My favorite fresh drink to order is a naranjada with agua natural con poco azúcar. This is a first squeezed orange juice, diluted with water and a little sugar. Once you place your order, they will bring you tostadas and ceviche. However when we arrive, they were fresh out of ceviche and brought us fresh pico de gallo which was pretty delicious. Note to self, come early for dinner on a Sunday to get the much sought after ceviche. For dinner, I ordered half order of filete de pescado Zarandeado that was served with steamed vegetables and rice. The portion was delicious and at 60 pesos it was a steal! For dessert we shared track of land, I know this is Mark W.'s favorite dessert and it was caramely, perfectly eggy and chocolate cakey. I am told that is homemade and you can buy an entire cake for about $230 pesos, in advance. The star of this place is really the seafood caldo which I ordered to go and for $140 pesos you will get a giant Styrofoam liter to go container filled with crab, mussels, shrimp and perfectly spicy and naturally salty delicious broth. They will also give you a plastic bag of tostadas. Oh my gosh, this was delicious! I am loving Chapala, Mexico and this spot is known by the locals and it's a chill spot to hang out and gets packed on weekends.

good mariscos !! BUT 95% of their menu is SPICY !!! service is acceptable . it's a huge challenge to order one dish without black pepper and or other peppers .. it almost seems they are proud of overspicing every dish they have .. I have been. 3 times only to order the same dish / camaron cordon bleu , which they are capable of making without any pepper .. their prices are not cheap but they give good value for money . I shall return .. ONLY for that one dish .. without pepper . they also have frog's legs . 2 pairs per order .. ( a dish hard to find around here ) ..

Seafood A la Mexicana. Great typical Mexican Seafood. Over 20 varieties of shrimp selections. The ceviches are exquisite. Great family atmosphere.

I was disappointed with the food and service. The marisco soup didn't taste fresh. I'm not going back.

No worries and drove westward just before entering San Juan Cosalá where a row of restaurants were located right on Lake Chapala. Arrived around 630pm at Las Gaviotas (the Seagulls) we were whisked to a table situated downstairs at this spacious restaurant right around sunset which was a nice and relaxing atmosphere. Their menu was entirely in Spanish with the typical cuisine of the region: charales (battered baby fish), caldo michi (catfish), fish and shellfish. With the various music playing, we started our meal by ordering appetizers - guacamole with chips and Tostadas de caviar (A flat, crispy-fried tortilla topped with caviar sprinkled with garnishes such as lettuce, tomato and onions). For our entree, we ordered cheese quesadillas, shrimp empanadas and some meat dishes such as Arrachera (skirt steak) and t-bone accompanied with rice, mixed vegetables and guacamole. Although few patrons remaining, it took a while for our main meal to arrive. The food was okay but needed some seasonings for some. They didn't even have steak knives to cut the meat. The food prices were a bit high but one's paying for the view. We can't recommend this place.

Prices are high, food is mediocre, service is okay...but the view is gorgeous and portions are big. My filete was about $290 but could have fed two people if I hadn't been absolutely ravenous. Similarly, the side of fries my brother got for $90 was an entire plate full. My michelada was okay but again, massive. They were also able to break up checks effectively for our large tour group, which made payment (and they take card!) simple and easy. I didn't choose this restaurant as we were on an organized tour nor would I recommend it or rush back, but if you end up here and you're hungry it's not a terrible move to get something to eat.

The only thing that caught me off guard was at the end when I asked for the check and they brought me the total and also a handwritten paper attached with a different amount. The. I don't know if they do that to tourists but be careful if you go there. The service was good so I give them 20% tip.
