With that being the case, after no more than a few moments he suggested we venture to Santo Mar. Honestly I wasn't sure what to expect however I did have high expectations.(based on my love for the Mexican cuisine) And I was not let down. To start off the location itself was in a very nice trendy area of the city. So furthermore the restaurant itself followed suit very well. The inside decor was very modern and very comfortable. But hey lets be honest, I didn't come here for the ambiance. I wanted to know what the food had to offer. As one could guess, Santo Mar specialized in Seafood dishes. A very large selection was offered on the menu along with an equally impressive beverage menu. In total our part was 5 people so to make things a bit easier and to allow for each of us to try many items, we ordered a number of items and shared them all family style. The dishes ranged from shrimp to fish to octopus and all were extremely fresh and well prepared. The waiter was very helpful and friendly however service was a bit slow. All in all I'd visit this restaurant again.

The food was boring. I recommend going somewhere else instead of here. Don't spend your time or money. NOT WORTH IT!!!!!

From tostadas, to cocktails, tacos, soups... Seafood is fresh, but not like if you were at a place close to the sea, however their quality is good. They also have a variety of fresh water drinks. Feel free to try several tacos or tostadas from their many options. Appetizers? If you like hot stuff try aguachile de camarón. They are hot but delicious- just be careful if you don't like raw food. These shrimps are cooked with the lime juice. You won't be disappointed!

The offer all the quintessentials but with fish, squid, camarones...and of course serving it up with no shortage of cheese. They like to cover their chips with some sort of Cajun seasoning...something you'd expect from your "wanna be different Mexican" joint up north, but not down here. Nothing impresses me more than finding that local joint that makes everything from scratch And keeps it simple. I get the feeling that finding a trendy edge and appealing to the commercial consumer is a bit more on their agenda. Not sure if go outta of my way to come here but it is a nice place for lunch in a pinch.

If I had one word to describe this place it would be fresh. I was a bit skeptical about this place…read morebecause Leon Guanajuato isn't anywhere near the ocean and I'm generally against buying seafood in places that are land locked; however I couldn't be more wrong about this place because their food was not only delicious but fresh. My first time eating Marlin (Marlyn Vinagreta) and I couldn't believe how delicious it was. It's a combination of sweet and flavorful and resembles the type of fish you'd expect to find in a good sushi restaurant. I also had what they call Shrimp a la Korea (Korean style shrimp) and although it didn't taste anything like Korean food, the shrimp were large and the juice/marinade they're served with are finger licking good. They have a habanero vinaigrette/sauce they place on the table and my mouth still waters at the thought of adding this stuff to each tostada I piled high with fish. If you can stand habanero, I highly recommend it. Pro tip: a tostada isn't a tostada here. If you think you're ordering a single tostada you're mistaken; you're basically ordering enough fish to feed one person and they'll serve that to you in a plate or bowl. The portions are pretty good so don't make the mistake of ordering several things thinking you're just ordering 2-3 tostadas worth of food. I know this review is a bit scattered but I forgot to mention I'm not really a fan of seafood. I went here fully prepared to have crackers and accompany my family while they ate...that's not at all what happened.
