in town on business and one of my co workers wanted to take us to a nice meal for the last night in…read morethe city. With that being the case, after no more than a few moments he suggested we venture to Santo Mar. Honestly I wasn't sure what to expect however I did have high expectations.(based on my love for the Mexican cuisine) And I was not let down. To start off the location itself was in a very nice trendy area of the city. So furthermore the restaurant itself followed suit very well. The inside decor was very modern and very comfortable. But hey lets be honest, I didn't come here for the ambiance. I wanted to know what the food had to offer. As one could guess, Santo Mar specialized in Seafood dishes. A very large selection was offered on the menu along with an equally impressive beverage menu. In total our part was 5 people so to make things a bit easier and to allow for each of us to try many items, we ordered a number of items and shared them all family style. The dishes ranged from shrimp to fish to octopus and all were extremely fresh and well prepared. The waiter was very helpful and friendly however service was a bit slow. All in all I'd visit this restaurant again.

The food was boring. I recommend going somewhere else instead of here. Don't spend your time or money. NOT WORTH IT!!!!!

My parents wanted to try out this seafood place when we went to San Luis and this restaurant was…read morerecommended by a friend. Is kinda hard to find because it's off the main street down a little ally kinda street and is located in the very corner near a tree that kinda hides the sign. When you walk in you get the strong taste of fish (which is good because it means they are fresh) they have a host that will show you to your seat but when we went we had to seat ourselves since it was after the lunch rush. They have many options for seafood including ceviche, soup, shrimp cocktail, breaded fish, deep fry fish, and much more. I got the large ceviche and it was good but it had a little too much mayo mixed in it. Both my parents got the seafood soup (their favorite) but were a little disappointed because it was not as good as they hoped. They had seafood soup in other places that have more variety in the soup compared to what they had that day here. My dad only got 2 big prawns and my mom had 3 big prawns, they had no scallops in their soup and the broth was too thin instead of creamy. My parents give the soups an 'eh is ok' rating. I give my ceviche a 'yeah I get it again' but next time I would get the small since the big portion was too much for me to eat. They do serve tostadas and salt crackers on the side along with bread. This is similar to olive garden giving you garlic bread so you fill up faster haha. The homemade salsa was good but spicy and the best thing to do is get a tostada, put some lemon on it add some salt and a little bit of salsa, and omg *chef kiss* delicious. They offer a variety of drink options and the waiter was nice and attentive to us when we visited. The ambiance of the restaurant is not too overpowering. Usually, seafood places are super tacky with the decor of fish, the ocean, and other seafood themes but not this one. It had some big pieces along with paintings from the owner and his mother. It has a mural on one of its walls and on the other walls, they had beer decor. The restaurant it connected to this shopping outlet and if you walk down this one hallway towards the bathroom there will be a few statues of Jesus and other saints because... you know Mexicans can't get enough of that Jesus. There are probably like 3 seafood places in the whole city so it's safe to say we will be back lol. Not because there are only 3 places but this one by far has more seating and more choices in terms of food. So if you are craving seafood in the middle of SLS your seafood craving will be taken care of by visiting this restaurant.

From tostadas, to cocktails, tacos, soups... Seafood is fresh, but not like if you were at a place close to the sea, however their quality is good. They also have a variety of fresh water drinks. Feel free to try several tacos or tostadas from their many options. Appetizers? If you like hot stuff try aguachile de camarón. They are hot but delicious- just be careful if you don't like raw food. These shrimps are cooked with the lime juice. You won't be disappointed!

The offer all the quintessentials but with fish, squid, camarones...and of course serving it up with no shortage of cheese. They like to cover their chips with some sort of Cajun seasoning...something you'd expect from your "wanna be different Mexican" joint up north, but not down here. Nothing impresses me more than finding that local joint that makes everything from scratch And keeps it simple. I get the feeling that finding a trendy edge and appealing to the commercial consumer is a bit more on their agenda. Not sure if go outta of my way to come here but it is a nice place for lunch in a pinch.
