After all the action and adrenaline at Islas Marietas, we were very hungry so I started looking for a place in Punta Mita. We ended up finding this gem in Bucerias instead. Costumer service was great! It was a slow Tuesday, only us and two other patrons. We got started with a ceviche campechano: octopus was tender and shrimp was very fresh. We ordered some guacamole to eat with the tostadas served at the table. I was shocked when I saw the breaded chicken plate: salad, rice, steamed veggies (chayote, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower), toast, and fruit (orange and watermelon). That's 5 sides in one plate plus the main dish. This was the setup for the other dishes as well. We ordered a lobster special and a full order of shrimp with butter and garlic. Toddler loved her shrimpy shrimps, and we did too. We definitely over ordered for 3 adults and a toddler, but the food was so delicious, we kept eating. We had also ordered a side of french fries but ended up taking those home because we just had to stop. I highly recommend this place if you want fresh and affordable seafood. Our check was less that $70 bucks (w/tip) for all the items mentioned above, plus two beers and three sodas.

Many visits over many years. Now we dine at the cart they have across from the restaurant in the square. Our go to dish is the shrimp and octopus cocktail with caldo (not the sweeter ketchupy sauce version they also serve). It is the best. Ask for some habanero sauce, which is a thin black sauce that will burn your face off if you are not careful.

Fresh, wonderfully prepared seafood. Authentic, superb combinations. Don't expect Red Lobster this is way different. Be open to try new flavors. A musician may stop by

The food was amazing. We had some of the best seafood at this restaurant. The service was great. We had kids and they were patient and gave us the wifi access to keep the kids distracted. The only small downside is that they only had fans and it was scorching hot and humid. Also, it was a really busy time of the day so it was a bit hard to move around. However, the food and service made it worth it.

Pinche lugar se tardan eternidades. Y los meseros muy culeros. Pero no fuéramos griegos por que hasta las patas les besan.

El Payo was recommended to us by local family. The food was delicious and the service was prompt.

What a gem!…read more Autentico cuisine that goes back to the roots of mexican cooking, this was not what we expected to find on our way to Bucerias for groceries after our sunset surf sesh. And I say that in the most positive way! They offer seafood, fresh and locally caught. The meat is from the adjacent town as well, and there are vegetarian and vegan options. The prices were less than what you'll pay for the obnoxious haggling sea-side restaurants and you have an amazing ocean view from up above. We started with two appetizers: the 5 corn empanadas and aguachile verde. I ate the empanadas too fast to give you a visual but the boyfriend took one of the shrimp (aguachile verde). Beautiful presentation, and it tasted better than it looked! How is that possible? He ordered the fresh catch of the day, which was a mahi-mahi. I went out on a limb for the local chicken made into a mole, both delicious as well. so far everything was so good that we sprung for dessert, and opted for the churro with vanilla ice cream. It sounds like a simple dessert, but we knew they would do it better than standand we were not disappointed. Everything was amazing, I cannot say enough superlative things. You'll see the boisterous pink exterior on your left heading from Punta Mita or Sayulita back to Bucerias/PV. Driving from Bucerias, it's on your right and you'll pass it before you see it. Turn back around- we did, and it was a highlight of our trip.

This place no longer exists. We followed the map and walked up the hill but it's gone.read more

It was the afternoon and we didn't really plan on getting anything big. But then we found this little back yard oasis, the huge fan was blowing in my face and it cooled mus down and our appetite could not be contained anymore. So we went off the rails a bit and the husband got a big platter of stuff and I got a big platter of stuff (seafood!). It was all fun and games until it came to pay and we realized that since we hadn't planned on having a big meal, we didn't bring a lot of cash. This place, like many in the area, doesn't accept credit cards, so we were in a bit of a pickle. We tried to get cash at the ATM next door, but it didn't work. So we went through all our pockets and gathered all our pesos... and were still short 2 or 3 in the end. Not even talking about a tip. Enrique was so, so gracious and laughed it off! He told us not to worry about it! We stopped by the next day on our way to Puerto Vallarta to pay our debt and leave a ncice tip, but it was in the early afternoon anbd the place was closed. Sorry, Enrique! We did try! In any case, we will make sure to stop by the next time we're in the area and eat some more of your amazing food and leave a REALLY GOOD tip this time! As for the food: it was very good. Just look at the pictures! Freshest sea food, made with love. Loved it!
