Food quality / price (value) rating 9. The atmosphere is taqueria. The food we had and the drinks they're making are not promoted well enough on their menus. They have several unique cocktails and mocktails made using house made purees and unique preparation methods such as "mint swizzling", similar to muddling but much more thorough and efficient. These cocktails are not given adequate promotion on their menu, and need to be described more clearly as they are uniquely interesting and highly original and of superior quality. I had the Carne Asada taquitos, and they were excellent. The wife had the Taco Salad and stated that it was delicious. She also had a roja sangria, made with brandy and Triple Sec, very good and unusual. I had a couple of IPA's that were canned, but excellent. We sat at the bar, and our server "Thalita" was both very committed, talented, and knowledgeable in attending to her mixologist duties. The prices were competitive. Overall, it was a positive experience. Will definitely come back.

Enjoyed a nice dinner at Mariposa! The interior is bright and colorful with several different seating options between the bar, traditional dining tables and a large high top community table in the middle. I sat at the bar and received fast and friendly service from both bartenders. The guacamole was delicious with its balance of tartness and creaminess. The chips were my favorite type, in house thick fried with a nice touch of salt. Also tried the carne arepa and chicken empanada. Both were a little dry, both the crust and the meat but it was flavorful. The two hot sauces tasted fresh and brought heat to each dish. The Al pastor was the best thing I ordered. I loved the fresh jalapeño to pair with the pineapple marinated meat. The shrimp was a little disappointing with the lack of seasoning and garnish/toppings. Overall, I would go back and try different things on the menu!

This place is great. Service is friendly and the food is terrific. My biggest problem is ordering too much, but that just means there is some to take home! I like their spicy margaritas and tostones. I could make a meal out of those. Last time I was there I had the nachos which were very filling. A lot of the stuff is smaller and you can order a bunch of things and share. I need to remember this more often when I'm thinking of places to eat out in Danbury.

$9.50 for two shrimp tacos. 2 shrimp per taco. Food was good but overpriced probably a one time place to eat!

We arrived mid afternoon and sat at the bar. As time passed, it flooded with guests, and everyone was enjoying the ambiance as much as us. We hoped for chips n salsa, but it is not complimentary, and we decided to stick with just our order (I base my favorite spots partially on their chips and salsa...so .....) Arepas were on the menu, and I chose mushroom. The dough was slightly sweet, and it had just enough filling. 3 kinds of tacos... 1. fish...perfectly cooked with great slaw 2. birria... very good shredded beef 3. guava chicken-my favorite of the 3, charred on the grill - and very flavorful. We finished with churros and they were delicious!!! small pieces with delicious caramel sauce Prices are good, and sizes were good, nicely decorated-

My friends and I love dining at Mariposa! The interior is beautiful and bright with a tropical feel. The service is always great, and the food is always on point. Stop in for some arepas, tacos, and a caipirinha for dinner, or some chilaquiles and a sangria for Sunday brunch. There's bar seating, plenty of dining space, and a cute outdoor seating area.

Fun vibes and atmosphere. Great food and spot-on service! Recommend for a small-plates authentic food.

I wanted to write a review after visiting the second time. This place deserves more than 5 stars. The ambiance is casual and so welcoming. As a starter, I ordered guacamole and chips. Guacamole is not an easy thing to make to taste good but this restaurant's guacamole is the best very tasty and I can't get over it. As a drink ordered virgin mango margarita. Service was so great. It was so quick and we didn't have to wait too long. Taco's are so delicious and very yummy. I can't wait to go there. I already started craving tacos again. Thank you Mariposa

Had a chance to have an early dinner. Wanted to try some Latin food and the menu was inviting. They have a cute patio to the side, before entering. It was hot and a bit humid so decided to eat inside. They have an open floor plan. As you enter, you face the bar. To the right and wrapping around the windows are tables seating two to four at a time. Thought it looked pretty. They have happy hour from 4-6pm during the week. We went ahead with the sangria and then margaritas. Thought mine had too much ice, but tasted good. My husband and I both chose the steak (grilled picanha). It came with rice with black beans (Moro), grilled onions (some white wine vinegar) and avocado slices. Cooked as requested, it was good. But it seemed to miss something. A lime quarter so you can squeeze it on your meal would have brought it to the next level. Tasted real good though. For dessert, had the churros. Real good and the dulce de levee sauce was good too. Great ending. Recommend you stop by for a nice dinner. Bathrooms were nice too. Doors say 'restrooms', which are gender neutral .

Between three of us we killed the corn and coconut Empanada.

Being out of town and finding good places to eat is always a challenge. We love Mexican food and really any food below the southern border. This place was amazing. The service was great, our waitress was so helpful and kind, everyone was fantastic. The food came out quickly and was so good. Very fresh and full of flavor. The drinks were good as well. All in all anytime I'm back I'd return no doubt. Zero complaints. Very nice, clean, relaxed atmosphere with a menu that's not overwhelming. If you want a realistically priced dinner with food that is actually good, here you go.

Everything we had was delicious. All the meats were cooked well; nothing overcooked. My only complaint is that the meat on the tacos weren't consistent on all tacos but the flavors were so good that I'm still giving it 5 stars. We also ordered sides (not pictured) and be warned that the sides portions are big. Be prepared to share with the group, or not - live your life queen! The place is clean and the ambience takes you to another place outside of Danbury.

My husband and I had dinner at this new Colombian restaurant two days ago…read more The place is very nicely decorated, clean and spacious. It is located in a nice area of downtown Danbury. When we arrived the music was excessively loud (it was around 6:30 pm, typical dinner time in this country, there was no party or dancing going on, there was only one other couple in a corner table and only one person at the bar). We politely asked one of the servers to please lower the volume because we couldn't even talk to each other. They lowered it, however, within a couple of minutes they increased the volume to what appeared to be even louder than before. We asked to move to another area, where the music would not be so deafening; this was better but still so intense that it was almost impossible to have a conversation. The fact that they increased the volume of the music was confusing to us. Was it done out of spite because they were upset by our request? Was it a sign of arrogance? Was it a way to make us feel unwelcome? We will never know for sure. While reviewing the cocktail menu, I noticed there was a mojito lulada; I asked our server what "lulada" meant. The server's explanation was that it was made with lula and she also said that it was alcoholic. Not knowing what lula is, I had to keep asking and was finally able to ascertain that it is a fruit similar to pomegranate. We proceeded to order classic mojitos, which were absolutely delicious and, without a doubt, the best part of our dinner. Ordering out entrees was a little peculiar. The same server who had a difficult time explaining to me what "lulada" meant, asked me how I wanted my steak cooked. I said I wanted it medium (my usual) but she proceeded to say maybe I should order it medium well. Thinking she knew something I didn't, I agreed. My husband ordered "Chuleta a la Plancha". The server started saying something about the chuleta did not have a bone, my husband said it did not matter if it was boneless and she continued to talk about the chuleta with bone was something different. It was confusing. My husband ordered the two side dishes he wanted; the server tried to persuade him to order two different ones. He knew what he wanted and insisted on it. We found the ordering process to be unusual, to say the least. Normally, when we order a meal at a restaurant, the process goes smoothly. Our meals were good. The steak that came with the "Classic Paisita" I ordered was tough and overcooked. I only had a small piece. Everything else was tasty. During our meal, another server came to talk to us. She was very pleasant. When discussing the unusual loud volume of the music, she said (while pointing towards the bar area) that the owner refused to lower it. As we were finishing our meals, a young woman came to our table and, initially, introduced herself as one of the owners. Later on, she said she was "the owner". She said she was not there when we arrived and had no explanation for the increase in volume of the music. We noticed that, while talking to her, the music was not as loud as before. We were never asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu or order coffee. This restaurant was not welcoming or hospitable.
