The food was so good!!! Service was great! Tim our server was on the ball never had to wait for anything. It looked very crowded from all the cars in parking lot, we almost turned away. But we decided to go in and see how long the wait was. Here it was only 5 minutes and we didn't wait that long. Back to food. I think this was the hottest food that I have ever been served. I had shrimp fettuccine Alfredo which think was best I have eaten. My husband had chicken parmigiana. He loved the sauce, only thing one of favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh does to chicken parmigiana is the pound the chicken thin and bake it. This restaurant leaves chicken in the breast size. Our waiter Tim was excellent! The service and food here is always on point. This is by far one of the best Italian restaurants around. Started off with an artichoke, salad and garlic bread. We got the chicken franchise and the linguine and clams in white sauce. As usual everything was excellent. Everything we have tried here has been delicious. My family loves the pizza also. One of my tests is the crunchy, cooked texture of broccoli and they had done it perfectly. Just what we were looking for!!! Old School 'red gravy' joint that won't disappoint. Went there on a Monday night and it was HOPPIN! Chicken parm was great and the antipasto salad is OUT OF BOUNDS. Not cheap, but the portions are giant. Service is that old school Sopranos 'Visuvios' style . I couldn't imagine getting trapped in this restaurant on a rainy night like Tony and Carmella. We went there on gift cards we had won. It's a good thing we did, because if we had actually had to spent money we would not have been pleased. As soon as you walk into the restaurant it smells old and dirty. The food is average and the service is average as well judging by the clientele when we were there they appear to cater to the much older crowd. Our first and last visit. We joined friends for an early dinner on a Sunday. The early menu is a slightly lower priced version of some of the main menu choices. None the less the prices are much too high for the food served. The average entree served with a salad is $21-$22 dollars. A glass of wine or my Manhattan was $8. So with tax $70/ couple before tip. I ordered veal parmesan with included side of angel hair pasta with red sauce. The pasta sauce is good, a little sweet. The veal was mediocre. At first bite it was tasty, but then the salt taste kicked in and the dish became blah halfway through it. My wife ordered the shrimp scampi and was wondering how anyone could mess up such a standard dish. I guess the best part of the meal was the garlic bread; warm with lots of salted butter and garlic. Again too much salt for me, but I don't use salt do maybe I'm sensitive. Anyway, we are used to much better Italian at these prices, being from Providence RI. My advice is to go elsewhere. read more

We were seated right away and Tim, our sever was helpful with the menu and extremely friendly!! We ordered a bottle of white wine to share. We had Italian bread and garlic bread and both are warm and very yummy!! Salads were served with each meal and they were very fresh! I had a side of the homemade ranch and it was great!! First lets start with ambiance looks like a throwback to the 70's in fact I think its the same decor they had when they moved in, Moving on you got nickle and dimes in there if you asked for a little sauce on the side to dip your bread you got charged which I never experienced in NY a small saucer.. next the pasta. LAME and overcooked they didn't even drain the water so you got a sauce soup mix! They have no clue what aldente means as if it were made for toothless people to eat. The Veal was tuff and so was the mozzarella also their sauce was tart like they just poured it outa the can and did nothing else. I dont care what reviews they got from the locals they have not hint of what Italian food really is anyway. My bill came to 130$ for 2 people on my birthday ordering normal items. Great staple in the neighborhood for good Italian. They have some great pasta and apps you would not find at every other joint. My family and I usually visit for early dinner, but this time we went for Easter. Definitely pricier on a holiday but the portions were also bigger. Generally I like their early dinner specials because even with the limited menu you would get a filling meal with amazing price. We arrived and immediately seated in the far back alcove a place seemed to be designated for out of towners or it just had some weird outta the way feel as we passed numerous open tables but whatever. Coming in from the sun was dangerous to navigate back to our table as it was very dimly lit. The ambiance lived up to the history. I felt like I was in NY and Tony would be walking in shortly. We waited about 10 mins for water and tea. Then 15 minutes to order - never asked about appetizers or presented with a wine list and even though I saw a pick up order of pizza it wasn't on the menu, and the lobster ravioli most of us wanted was unavailable. Substituted 1 for crab ravioli, not very good. My son asked if id be mad if he said the veal he had at our local restaurant back in home was better. Wife was ok with her spaghetti and meatballs. I had clam/shrimp linguine that was ok but very salty. I hadn't eaten since 11am and it was 7pm so I just consumed what was in front of me. Waitress took our appetizer order with dinner order and they arrived quickly. Calamari and stuffed mushrooms. I have a stuffed mushroom recipe I've used for 35 years and nobody has made better yet. Still undefeated. They were good just mine are better. Calamari was ok but by no means top 5 we've had while here on vacation. A couple hundred dollars and a 20% tip for an ok dinner but not as supercalifragilisticexpealodocious as I'd hope for. read more

I really wish I could be giving this restaurant a good review because everyone was very nice and tried to be helpful, but our dinner experience fell short in so many ways. There were 8 of us celebrating a family birthday and things started off great when we added an extra person, at the last minute, and they were very accommodating. Our waiter was friendly, but didn't seem to know the menu well, when we were ordering, and he had to keep looking at the menu to confirm what we were asking to have served. We ordered a few appetizers and while the stuffed mushrooms were excellent, the calamari was terribly rubbery and mussels portion was small. Our salads were enjoyable, but when a guest orders a specifically vegetarian meal, why are they served a salad with pepperoni on it? The waiter should have caught this. We have mixed reviews on our main entrees also. While some were described as "very good", two of us found our meals inedible. I will say that the manager did remove those meals from the check, but that left the two of us still hungry when we left the restaurant. (Ordering something different would have had us eating long after everyone else had finished.) This leads to the next faux pas. Two of our eight were still eating their meals, including the birthday girl, and the waiter brought over the birthday cake for us to sing Happy Birthday. My sister was blowing out candles with a mouth full of her veal. It was ridiculous. We then had to flag down the waiter to ask for coffee, which he clearly wasn't going to offer to us. Refills on beverages also were never offered. The final blow came when a beer bottle, not from our table, was dropped by a waitress right behind my chair. She and another waiter picked up a few pieces of it and just walked away. They never bothered to apologize or even inquire as to whether the beer splashed on me, which it did. Then as we got up to leave, we found several other large pieces of glass still lying on the floor under and around our chairs, which could have been very dangerous.
