I was due for an eye exam and was having an issue with swelling/crusting at night in my left eye. So I called the office. They were able to get me in that day (due to a cancellation). Having cut my eye at 17 and having been traumatized by the ER doctor who treated me - even putting drops in my own eyes has been a challenge. I've not been able to allow anyone else to do it since that time. Because of my skittishness, I've never been able to do the glaucoma exam, either... And it's been more than a few decades now... Dr. Beth Westell (West Frankfort location) not only was able to put drops in my eyes, but was able to do the glaucoma exam! She saw a defect in my cornea and treated me and had me come back, but felt I should see the ophthalmologist, as the situation had not improved (it also had no worsened). She referred me to Dr. George Ortiz (Marion location). I was nervous about my appointment, still feeling quite skittish and not knowing what would be done to exam my eye. Dr. Ortiz was also able to get drops in my eyes. (I was pleasantly surprised!) He did an exam - might have been another glaucoma test - it seemed like the same equipment, and though still skittish, the exam was a success. He diagnosed the issue and took the time to make sure I understood the issue I was having. That said, he is treating me for corneal basement dystrophy w/ corneal erosion. I'm thrilled to report that my eye is improving. I also would like to give Keri (West Frankfort) 5 stars. She always helps me pick out my frames. She's patient, honest, and is always a delight. The receptionist (whose name, I regret I do not have) is also a charming gal - 5 stars for her, too! I've only one issue, but it turned out okay. I was told that they'd be ready in about 2 weeks. I was called a week later and the lens in over my "bad" eye wasn't right - come to find out, it was not correctly done, so Keri examined them and confirmed it wasn't just me. She was very apologetic - though it was through no fault of hers. So, we sent them back to be fixed. They came back a week later and are perfect! So, though they weren't right originally, I still had my glasses in that 2 week time period in which I had been told I'd have my glasses. It all worked out in the end - plus I got an extra visit with Keri when I came back to pick them up. read more

I have Had pretty good luck with Marion Eye center in Centralia Illinois. I liked all the staff. Very friendly courteous staff. Although the dr was cold rude and talked in a very rude and disrespectful way to treat anyone. I too had a mask issue with her. I have copd and asthma if I remember correctly My breathing conditions would illuminate a requirement to wear a mask for me. Although I had a mask on it had just slipped down over my nose and she very rudely removed herself from My immediate area. I asked me very rudely support my mask I explained that COPD and asthma I can't breathe well thru a mask. She was not receptive to fact that she was very rude abrasive although I do want to give her a good review she's very competent and good at her job she's not very social. Definitely not a people person! Due to the rest of the staff their selection quality and results I'm rating them a four stars if I was to just review the my experience with on the doctor I'd gave her Two stars totally because she is rude and gives off a resentment vibes. read more

Read updated below this: My family loves coming here. Everyone is wonderful and kind. There's a large selection of frames and they will work with you to try and save you as much money as they can. The staff is always so pleasant and it's no chore to come here to get our eyes examined. UPDATE: I canceled all of my families appointments here and went elsewhere. I had dropped off my daughter glasses to be repaired. They called me a few days later to tell me they were in and that I could pick them up. But when I went there - they were closed. I called and found out that the glasses were sent to a different Marion eye center in a different town. (They were sent to Centralia, IL) Why they weren't sent to the one I dropped them off at - I don't know. So I said "That's fine - I'll come get them today. What time do you close?" I was told they were open til 5. I got off work and busted butt to this town to get them. I arrive at 4:40. Twenty minutes before closing. There are two cars parked around back as if employees. Lights are on. Shades are up so I can see where a purse and water bottles are sitting on the counters. But the door is locked. I knock and no one answers. So I call. No one answers. I call back.....several times. No one will answer. I knock again. I did this for ten minutes - determined to get my daughter's classes. Nothing. I walked back to my car. I was debating on sitting there until someone came out at 5. I decided to go knock one more time. This time when I walk up , lights are off and shades pulled. So people were inside the entire time but refused to answer their phones or their door. I left - tremendously aggravated. I guess people in Centralia don't really allow paying customers to come in during business hours after all. I called them the next morning starting at 8. I called til 8:30. No answer. Seriously!!!!!! I finally called the original place where I'd dropped the glasses off. I explained that I was no going back to Centralia and that I want my daughters glasses shipped to their office. (That office has always answered their phones.) I got my daughter glasses and we found somewhere else to do our business. My son, husband, and myself now also go to somewhere new. The doctor there was so rude & disrespectful I pulled down my mask to unlock my phone & forgot to pull it back up unconsciously & she says I'm going to have to ask you to pull your mask up over your face & as I was pulling it up I continued to talk & my mask has a zipper across the mouth part & I stated that as I pulled it up then she takes 3 feet back after we were already 6 feet apart & says now I'm asking you to close your zipper (Keep in mind the tone in her voice was so disrespectful) & I said no I'm not zipping my zipper I've been here over an hour with it unzipped & the way your speaking to me like I'm a child she runs over to the desk throws the folder on the counter & says I'm not dealing with this & I walked over & says can I have something in writing that you guys denied services to the children I have there & the lady at the desk start laughing saying she didn't notice the zipper or she would have said something I repeated myself asking for something in written & she picks up the phone & calls the police I asked why was she calling the police & she didn't ask me to leave & she said now I'm asking you to leave & I said now you called the police so I'll wait on them to come then she yells "BLACK " in a rude way I said now your calling racist names she said the cops ask your race & I said "black " then I said no you yelled BLACK in a sarcastic way & I left out with the 3 children I had with me it was a horrible experience the racism & disrespect that was done to me yesterday they are horrible,horrible people even the doctor read more
