Fantastic dental practice with top notch staff and Dr. Earnest is as friendly and skilled as they come! Thank you for taking care of a Michigander!!

The hygienists are nice, but the overall practice seems corrupt and not concerned about the best interests of patients. First, they tell you need (unnecessary) additional treatments that are not covered by insurance (if they were necessary, they would be covered). In five decades of dental care, I have never had "necessary" treatment suggested that was not covered by insurance. Second, while your insurance coverage includes an exam by an actual dentist, you'll probably never get that exam unless they think they can convince you that you need some expensive treatment (likely not covered by insurance). I went 3-5 times and never met an actual dentist much less had an exam by one. Again, in over five decades I never had a hygiene appointment where the dentist did not stop in and do an exam. Third, they have no issue physically harming you while telling you the action is required. In my case, their X-Ray process resulted in severe bruising to the roof of my mouth as well as an over-extended jaw injury that prevented me from being able to eat solid food for a full week (I have a small mouth including a low roof). I complained bitterly about this awful experience but, they (office staff, who said she was talking to medical staff), insisted they couldn't keep seeing me unless I underwent that same X-Ray experience again. This office staff person literally lied to me on the phone, saying children use the adult sized X-Ray plates with no problem, while the hygienist previously told me they use a non-invasive external imaging for kids, and they could do that with me as well. All of my previous dental offices had not issue accommodating my needs. So much so I didn't even realize it was a big issue until I came to Comal Dental. I'm never going back to this awful and negligent practice.

While over the Christmas break, I was enjoying a tasty festive treat. About three bites in…read more.. CRUNCH! One of my teeth decided to chip and break. Bummer. What a way to put a damper in the holidays. Not having a regular dentist here in New Braunfels, raised my pucker factor as well. Luckily, my daughter had a regular dentist, and the wife recommended Rivercrest Family Dental. The wife made me an appointment, with the soonest appointment being six days later. Thank goodness I was not in severe pain. I showed up on the day of my appointment about thirty minutes early. I was greeted upon entry and asked for my driver's license and had my photo taken for the file. I had filled the paperwork online the night prior, so no lengthy forms were required before I was seen. The nice lady behind the desk told me to have a seat and told me that it would be a while since I was very early. As promised, I was called back right at my appointment time and was placed in the seat. The receptionist told me the dental assistant and Dr. Barber would be with me shortly. Shortly thereafter, a nice young lady (sorry, I am terrible with names) greeted me and went over some of the basic medical questions. Lunch break came, so then the nice young lady handed the torch over to another nice lady to take good care of me. She outfitted me with a bib, and put a lead jacket on me. Took some X-rays of my chipped tooth, then went to consult with Dr. Barber. She was very nice and we made small talk whilst we waited for the doc. Dr. Barber came in and evaluated my x-ray. He looked in my mouth and told the dental assistant a bunch of medical terms and jargon. He then gave me the low down in layman's terms. Said I would need filings, and he could fit me in quick before his next consult. He told me another assistant would be in shortly to give me the break down of the costs, and numbed me up. The assistant came in shortly thereafter and gave me the breakdown. Was up front about what the costs were, and how much my insurance would cover. I assessed the costs, and gave them the thumbs up. I could not talk as my mouth was all numb. Dr. Barber and the assistant went right to work. Dr. Barber kept me informed the whole time, told me what he was doing, and why. The pain was kept to bare minimum. The doctor asked if I had any questions or concerns, then told me he wanted to see me back in a few weeks to discuss a more thorough examination. I was then walked down the hall, paid my bill, made my next appointment, and was free to go. I highly recommend this place and highly recommend Dr. Barber. The whole process from start to finish was somewhat painless. No one ever enjoys going to the dentist, but this visit was not as bad as I thought it would be. Enjoy.

I have been going to this dentist now for over three years. I go and also my two kiddos go here…read moretoo. A few things I really like about this place. One is that they don't guilt you for not taking care of your teeth like a fiend. I used to have dentists and dental hygienists that would make you feel like the scum of the earth because I don't floss twice a day. This place, they see you, take care of you, and then you're good. They'll make recommendations but they don't push and I really like that. Next thing I really like is that it's not hard to get an appointment sooner rather than later. A friend of mine called a dentist in town because his tooth was hurting. The place said the earliest that he could make the visit was like 2 and a half months out. I suggested he call this place and he was in within a couple of days and was pain free afterwards. I've had zero issues with the front desk, billing, or anything like that as well. The hygienists are great and also my dentist too.

They have turned into a big corporate dental office. I guess to pay for that nice cushy office and all the cute little young girls working for them except for ones behind desk. Now all they do is refer you out to do like extraction and all they want is to clean and put on crowns. My insurance used to cover most of procedures done there and now it cost me like $200 just to walk in door. It should be called Premier price Dental. I was recently referred out to have an extraction and little did I know I was I thought I was getting the procedure done but wasn't. It was only a consultation and cost me $180 and it was 45 miles away and the office where located was back in the back alley unmarked until you get exactly in front of door. But that not premier faults. But maybe it is. They specifically refer you out to offices and corporate places here they can get the most profits. Premier price, premier office, premier referral! Not happy
