Stefano not only continued sharing his knowledge of Sicilian wines but recommended Enoteca Picone to further our experience which was perfect advice. Lunch for me was fried octopus, which was 4 legs, each 6" (150 mm.) long and crispy on the outside and tender but slightly chewy on the inside like great fried chicken. I had seen a plate the night before and actually dreamed of them. They did not disappoint. She chose another iteration of cozze from the specials menu. These mussels were steamed in beer with fresh ginger and were comparably good to the sautéed but slightly more subtle. It turns out that dishes on the specials menu can work their way onto the standard menu if the patrons insist and the chef came out to ask for a comparison. We repeated the contorni plate of chef's choice vegetables that repeated the potato slices but added grill zucchini and oven dried onion that was sweet with all of the bitter components gone and the consistency of a very thin potato chip. We tried to rein in for dinner with pasta only. I had the Sicilian classic Pasta a la Norma with strong fresh tomato, soft eggplant, and sweet onion. It demanded scarpetta even with a white linen table cloth. She had pasta with prawns that was subtle and delicate with a lighter tomato sauce with herbs. We repeated the wines from the night before. We left feeling sad to think we probably wouldn't be back on this trip but smiling from the stomach up.

I decided to have a bucket of clams, awesome! Then in addition, the prosciutto with melon, also the carbonara which had thicker noodles. I dont know that I necessarily care for that, but it was yummy, and so flavorful. I loved it. The service was very direct slightly pretentious in a feel good way. So fun and such a good way to end your night in Italy.

Pretty extraordinary!!…read more We didn't have reservations but apparently got lucky someone cancelled. My party of 4 got seated right away. I'm a sucker for truffles and I noticed they had a lot of truffles on their menu. The special for the day was tortellini' with shaved white truffles. They brought a whole truffle and shaved a few grams in front of me. I posted a video of the experience. I then ordered the PIEDMONTESE FASSONA SIR FILLET, PURE AND BLACK TRUFFLE. It was cooked perfectly and the truffles had me salivating. Presentation is beautiful. Everything was perfect except the wait time. I normally expect restaurants in Europe to take 1 hour or two to get the food to the table but I noticed every table around us got their food 30 minutes before us, even if they were seated after. I guess that's why we need reservations next time. Pretty high end experience for a great price. Will recommend if in the area.

The decor was "wine chic" modern, with ice buckets fabricated from wine boxes. The front of this establishment was a wine shop with Sicilian and other Italian wine selections as well as olive oil and other Sicilian delicacies. We received royal treatment from Marco, one of the twins, of crisply spoken English, cordiality, and expertise in creating a memorable dining experience. The food was scrumptious and professionally presented. Local seafood excellence along with meticulously prepared pastas, including "tenerumi" a true Sicilian vegetable speciality in pesto form. The stuffed zucchini flowers were almost too beautiful to eat. And, seafood arancini - magnifico!!Marco brought it all together with perfectly picked wine selections for our appetizers, then main courses. Of course, he chose varying drinking vessels to match the varietal served - a true maestro. This was an immensely grand dining experience that we hope to experience again in our next travels to this "Isola Bella"!!!

We were beyond thrilled to be seated at L'Angolo when we wandered in at 8pm on a Sunday in February. What followed was some of the most attentive service and delicious, creative seafood we've experienced in Italy! The charming waiter had lived and worked in Miami for several years and was happy to chat with us in English, explaining the menu, making wine and food recommendations, explaining the history and origins of their Sicilian dishes... Did you know, for instance, that caponata takes its name from "capone," Italian for mahi-mahi because this "poor man's" dish was traditionally made with that fish which is ample and inexpensive in Sicily? We had their version with swordfish that was just out of this world! On our waiter's recommendation, we also started with the fried baby squid (my favorite!!) and sardine balls. My husband and I shared two pastas which they graciously plated individually/in half portions for each of us. The real win of the night though came when I told them that my mother in law didn't eat seafood. Any other restaurant would have scoffed at us and maybe brought a plate of noddles with olive oil. However, our waiter asked what she wanted, and when she declared Alfredo Fettucini (a dish known only in America), he didn't bat an eye. Instead, he took her request to the kitchen and brought out, what I must admit, was a damn good plate of pasta. Sadly, we were too full for dessert, even though the promise of housemaid tiramisu, panna cotta, etc. was so tempting. We'll just call our amazing bottle of Sicilian D'Avola Nero our dessert and be sure to save room next time!

Literally one of the worst experiences ever. Everything went wrong right from the very beginning…read more We got there around 7 PM for a light dinner, two adults and two kids. We ordered a bottle of warm still water, pasta with cheese for a kid, salmon with fries, swordfish with side salad, sardine meatballs and a dessert. They got us a bottle of ice cold water about 10 mins later and then when I finally caught one of the waiters and asked him to replace it with warm one he said he didnt understand me ( which is right as they speak almost no English), and he asked me if i have opened it.........) Then finally about 15 minutes later we had the water. About 20 more minutes - and we finally had sardine meatballs and pasta. With NO cheese! I had to remind them to get us the cheese and they brought some cheapest parmesan in a can. Sardine balls were eatable but Im never ordering it again. We kept waiting and waiting.. saw waters come in with a few packs of potatoes ( it felt like they had no potatoes thats why we had to wait for the side fries). then about 25 mins later we were finally served the fish. Salmon was ok, not the best still but swardfish was just disgusting. Dry, tasteless and overcooked. They offered no oil not vinegar for what they called salad ( they obviously dont know what salad really is though) and i had to ask for it. Overall we sent over an hour just waiting there. They didnt even ask us if we were happy with it, they didnt seem to care at all. I felt the owners who were there as well werent really friendly and were rather rude with some other people. It was my first and only negative experience at the restaurant in Mondello and im never comign there again. Avoid.
