Classic Cape Cod Motel. The rooms have been very recently refreshed and updated (6/25) and they were spotless and clean. These rooms were well appointed, had everything we needed and were really cute. Parking is right outside your door. There is an 8 foot outdoor pool in the back if you like a little "stretch swim" like my husband. It's home sized, not resort sized, but the area was clean and spotless too. The office has ice for you, and the Motel is within a 10 minute walk from all the local restaurants, shops and bars. My friends and I stayed at this hotel and were absolutely disgusted by both the condition of the facility and the behavior of the owner. The room had visible roaches, which is completely unacceptable for any hospitality business. When we tried to speak with the owner about it, he blatantly walked out and refused to address our concerns. Later, when we called to ask what could be done to resolve the situation, he cussed us out and told us to "do whatever the f*** you want to do." His response was beyond unprofessional--it was hostile and vile. This man is a gross, despicable human being who clearly has no regard for his customers or basic decency. We've been doing a lengthy road trip and after spending the day on Martha's Vineyard needed a place. Found this and took a chance and it did not disappoint. Excellent looking room, nice bed and pillows. I don't drink coffee anymore so it was wonderful to see the tea. This owner really takes such good care of this place and it shows. Stayed here this past weekend with my husband and daughter. My husband checked us in while my daughter and I did some shopping. We really wanted to like this place because it looked cute and was conveniently located to all the little shops in Falmouth. They told my husband they couldn't find our reservation after he and I both called to confirm there would be 2 double beds in our room since our daughter is a teenager. They told my husband to wait and mysteriously they found out reservation. The sheets in both beds were stained with what looked like bodily fluids. The rug felt damp, we wore shoes the whole time and slides in the shower because there was mold on the shower tile floor. We had 3 people staying in our room and only 2 towels. The mattress felt like the springs were coming through the mattress on both beds. Needless to say we will not be staying there again nor do we recommend this place. read more

Creepy. The office watches everything and the pool is by a house that is full of people on the property. Want to microwave? Go to the porch full of strangers. Management is rude...always asking how they can charge more. At 11 am they come to your room at checkout so be ready to leave. That being said the pool is good and the rooms have a nice decor. Just didn't feel safe being next to their house full of local workers on the front porch. Only because I had two beautiful daughters and a hot wife with me. Labour day weekend, so Peak tourist season. 200 usd per night, which is still cheaper than other offerings this time of year at this locality. Within walking distance to the ferry, island queen. Within walking distance to most restaurants on the Main Street or otherwise, within walking distance to bicycle rentals and the Shining sea bikeway route. If it wasn't for the sunset at The Knob, one could pretty much just leave your car parked the entire vacation there and just walk everywhere. It's kept clean. Our rooms were made everyday and towels replaced. The check in was friendly and though they sprayed the rooms a lot with room freshener of sorts because it is a bit damp or moist, as it tends to be at the seaside, they seemed to be doing a great job to keep the place as clean as possible! Definitely would stay here again and definitely recommend it as it has good value for money given the location, and the time of year. read more

I'm SO glad we discovered The Mariner! The innkeeper, Gary was so hospitable and friendly. He recommended restaurants in the area and made sure we had everything we needed. I was reluctant to stay in a "motel" because of the stigma that comes with it but it completely turned me around. Our room was so neat and clean and the bedding, as Gary explained were recently updated. Our room, a Double XL had two double beds plus an extra single bed. It could easily accommodate a larger group. The location is right in downtown Falmouth, just a few minutes to all the restaurants and shops. Poor customer service We were planning to stay here the weekend that tropical storm/ hurricane Henri was projected to hit the Cape. I called the motel to cancel our reservation as our trip would be affected (driving in hurricane force winds is not advisable and I experienced enough hurricanes after living in the south to take warnings seriously!). I canceled on Booking.com (as I used this site for initial reservations) and also contacted the motel explaining the situation as we were concerned about the impending tropical storm and dangerous driving conditions. The motel denied my requested with no explanation ...just DENIED. I called the motel and someone answered ( I assume it was the front desk) answered with no proper greeting. That is, there was the person did not have the manners to say good day, good afternoon nor did he identify the name of the establishment. I had to ask if I had the correct location. This is basic etiquette and a core part of answer any business calls. I explained the situation to the person and asked to speak to the manager since the person said he is just following instructions. He said the manager was unavailable. This was the second time in 2 days that I called that the manager was unavailable. I requested the name and email contact for the manager and was given a 2 letter nickname and told to use the generic motel email. I explained that I already sent an email to that address. The person continued to reiterate while becoming increasingly agitated that he is 'just following directives. I told him I understood which is why I am asking to speak to his supervisor who would be better able to assist. The person then responded that he did not 'have time for this' and rudely disconnected the call. I was sorely disappointed to cancel my family trip but even more upset at this rude and disrespectful treatment by the motel and specifically the employee who refused to identify himself. Do better, Be better! There are great customer service trainings I strongly suggest that you complete and for the employee, practice self control, patience and kindness. it will serve you well. read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced!!! We tried to stay here for one night on a quick getaway to Falmouth. When we arrived to check in at the hotel there was no one in the office so you had to call a number to reach them. When they finally came, we had asked if they offered any senior discounts and if we could just see the room (the outside didn't look so great so we just wanted to check that the room would be okay) the man working the desk was incredibly rude and said that because we asked for discounts he "didn't trust us" and didn't want to rent us the room anymore. He said he had to go talk to the owner and rode away on his bike leaving us there at the reception. So this place is very quaint. I am doing work in MV and this was the most bang for my buck that I found in the Falmouth, MA. I was going to get a place on MV but it was over 100 more a night on island. Anyway I got the queen size room and its way bigger than I expected, it had a nice size shower, big dresser, mini fridge, built in AC, and full cable TV. There is also a pool, but I did not use it. Some things are a bit old but the place was spotless clean and I got a great night sleep both nights I was there. The unit was kept very clean the location is also very nice. Most importantly I would stay there again. I paid $80 a night. read more

What everyone says is absolutely true, the owners are incredibly nice people. That's the only reason why I didn't give it a one. The rooms were very clean, there's a fridge for sodas, etc. and the location is very convenient to the Main Street shops. However...the rooms haven't had a good renovation for decades, the beds were sparse with pillows, I had to borrow a hair dryer and an iron to get ready for the wedding we were in, and the rooms had a stale sort of smell... If we paid $60 a night vs. $200 a night to stay in this place I would have given it 4-5 stars. But for the price, even during tourist season, I expected more. read more

Mariner Motel advantages: - conveniently close to Falmouth and Woods Hole - nice swimming pool in the back - Karen, the owner, is quite pleasant Mariner Motel disadvantages: - The management is crazy. A staff member threatened to evict my family because we complained about a smoke alarm that was going off in one of our rooms during our stay. After making exactly zero effort to fix it or call an electrician, the manager was all set to leave the room, with no guarantees that it wouldn't start beeping again in the middle of the night. We remarked that we wouldn't be paying for a room that had a defective smoke alarm, and he completely freaked out. Actually marched us down to the front desk, and was all set to throw us out before Karen intervened. This was some of the most upsetting and, frankly, outrageous behavior any of us had ever witnessed in the hospitality industry. Obviously there is no incentive for a venue as conveniently located to update the rooms or treat their guests well, because there is always another tourist just down the road. I feel sad posting this negative review, because Karen, as above, is so nice. Protip: Avoid room 7. read more

I stayed at the Mariner for the 4th of July weekend because it was the only hotel in Falmouth that had vacancy. I paid $185 for 1 night which was the cheapest rate I could find... HOWEVER, you get what you pay for. The room STUNK! Literally, it smelled like mildew. It was very, very clean though. The bed was broken so we slept on a slant all night. The front desk clerk was friendly and helpful. I asked him for extra towels and he gave me 2 but they were tiny and very rough on your skin because they were so old. Speaking of old-- the motel hasn't been updated since 1982. Very outdated! Overall, I probably wouldn't stay here again if I had other options but if you are in a jam and need a cheap room, it's not bad. At least its clean!! read more

I stayed here the weekend before Memorial Day weekend. It was was a last minute stay. The hotel is nicely located, just down the street from the center of Falmouth. They have a small pool and are pretty close to the beach. The staff is super nice and accommodating. The rooms are a bit outdated and could use a facelift but they are very clean and spacious. The tvs are large new flat screens though! All and all i would totally recommend this place; it's great if you are looking for a simple, family friendly, well located (and fairly cheap) stay. read more

Ideally situated on Main Street in historic Falmouth, the Mariner has it all. It's just a short stroll to the Vineyard ferry. The rooms are very spacious and spotless with new carpeting, new flat screen televisions and even a little refrigerator. The wi-fi is free and fast. We have our out of town relatives stay here everytime they come to visit. However, don't stay here if your looking for a fancy hotel. It's a laid back, family friendly, very clean & well maintained hotel. It's located on main St in downtown Falmouth. There's a small pool in the back & you can walk to the beach. The Mairner Motel is well situated close to shopping and restaurants. The managers are extremely friendly, accomodating, and well informed about the local sites to see and the logistics of using and reserving ferry services. Our room was very clean and functional. We loved the location and walked to church, shoping, and downtown restaurants. Every dining recomendation the managers made was spot on. Their touring bikes were availble just for the asking.
