I only had two sets left, mind you, and my sweater was on machine, I was getting ready to sit in it and use it, and the employee starts unracking my weights. I said "excuse me, I am using this and he said well we are moving it"! Never ever would this happen at 24 hour fitness or any other commercial big or small private gym. They know how to put their patrons first at those other places. IF he actually was taught to put members first, he would've let me finish the extra three minutes it would have taken me to complete my sets... never going back here. Or they could've put a sign to not use machine, like all other gyms in the world do. I have been a personal trainer all my life and never have I witnessed anything like what happened to me here today. If you're serious about your workouts and your time in the gym, don't bother with this incompetent staff that doesn't know how to put paying members first. What I experienced today is like eating at a restaurant and while you're in the middle of taking a bite of your half eaten burger, the waiter comes to your table and grabs your plate with your fries from underneath you. Who does that? LOL. But that is not the worst of it.. after the manager talks to me, the rude employee that kicked me off my machine (older man) comes over to where I am and rolls his eyes and tells me "get over it"!!! I've never been spoken to so poorly by a grown man. Shame on him for speaking to a lady that way. Zero respect, zero common sense, zero gym etiquette or know how. These people are running a joke of an establishment and their employees know nothing about serious training or why people actually go to the gym and yet they work at a gym. Canceled my family's membership and never going back to this dump.

They are either on their cell phones or just screwing around. No one cares. You could literally walk in and go to the gym or a class - they offer & no one literally gives two sh*ts. What's funny is that , they increased their monthly membership. Having no shame, this recreation center is now charging $35 for their family plan. They keep changing g their hours to fit their needs. In addition, the Roanoke recreation center lacks sanitation wipes. I'm not joking, the wipes have been empty for weeks. When you tell the kids in the front, the two boys, they just nod and go s as bout their ways. I mean, in the midst of Covid , nothing is readily available, at this center. You can't wipe anything down. The sweats on the machines snd equipment just sit on the equipment until the next person becomes a victim of catching a case. Furthermore, the place is kept without air conditioning. You could have a stroke trying to workout- in their modest gym- with a few machine operating. So good luck with your workout. This place is nasty , not kept clean. Their bathrooms and facility - in an overall demeanor, is dirty, not attended to and some of their toilets are unflushable. It's too bad they have teenagers, who are busy on their cell phone, basically, running this place down. In a nutshell, this place is hotter than hell , offers little to no working equipment and lacks in wipes. So in midst of Covid, this center is running a mock , lacking wipes - that are always empty , in their dispensary. It's like , " For the love of God, , get off your butts and off your damn cellphones and attend to this facility , that's over priced, for what they offer. It's not safe working out there anymore. So, beware.

You can use if for $5 a day as a non-resident if you ever feel the need to go play some b-ball, volley ball, hit up some racket ball or work out for those days you're feeling extra out of shape. Cheaper if you are a resident. They also have monthly and yearly rates as well, which are reasonable. I think the husband and I paid a little more than $50 for unlimited use of the place for one months time. This was before the wedding, so it didn't last long. We haven't been back since, but again, we're pretty lazy people. Plus he's like, underweight so I'd rather he pig out at Jack in the Box anyway. But back to the Center. They have a pool even, and lots of classes you can sign up for (kids classes too). You can even take a course to get your concealed weapons licenses, and it's a no-fail class. They work with you until pass and I believe it's only $110. Rad deal if you ask me. If you're ever in the area, I high suggest hitting this place up for some good, healthy fun and exercise. It's worth it and good for you. Who doesn't want that? And by the way, the gym is totally not crowded like most other gyms, so ladies... if you want some alone time with that treadmill or stair climber, this is the place to go.

Fridays 10-12pm is currently the toddler ( kids under 5) time and it's nice they keep all the waterworks off so kids can play and parents can see/hear easily. Toddler time is best for the littles, 1-3 year range, my near 5 year old has outgrown the small slide and "baby" area. There are two large slides that open during regular hours but the height requirement is 48" which kids tend to hit between 6-8 yrs old. For us, since my kid is about 5 there wasn't much more than swimming here to do but the lazy River and splash pad. We stayed about 2 hours. There is a good amount of shade on site, an aid station and bathrooms. Until my kiddo is tall enough for the slides there isn't a draw to return. The toddler hours are $10 per family, great price especially for large families, for me I'm paying $5 per person where a family of 4 or more is paying half that per person. Would be nice to equalized the payments to (example) $2 per kid rate to make pricing fair. I like the fenced in area with single entry and exit point. Overall nice place to spend a couple hours once in a while, you can bring a cooler and make a day of it, will return after a growth spurt- or two.

Once you look at the prices for an annual membership here (which I think is currently $35) it seems crazy that anyone would pay for a gym membership anywhere else! In the last three months I've taken a couple of different classes. I started with the crazy sounding cycleates, which was half pilates and half spin class. Turns out, I'm more into the pilates half of that equation so I've been taking pilates classes ever since. The instructor plays great music, the people are super friendly, and they provide everything you need as far as mats, weights, etc. I'm a bit of a germophobe, so I bring my own mat. The great thing is that classes are so reasonably priced! You can try out any class if you just want to stop in - I think prices for a single class range from $2 to $8, but you can find out detailed info about drop in prices on the Grapevine website. They have been super flexible with me about trying different levels and figuring out which class works best for me without charging me any extra. I'm a total cheapskate about paying for exercise classes and this is finally an option that is in my budget and doesn't make me feel like I'm being robbed blind. Is it a community center? Yes. Does it have the fancy amenities you would find at one of the chain gyms? No. So if you like working out in luxe surroundings, you probably won't be thrilled. But I'm not really too concerned with anything other than getting off my lazy ass and doing a workout that I enjoy, so this has been perfect for me!

I enjoyed how friendly the staff was in doing so. When I did join the lady that took our info and photo was very pleasant. Pretty good size place and more than a few things to offer. I enjoy the in door track the most. Have not tried the weights located down stairs, they are always being used at the time I come. I've only been here a few times and I can appreciate that it is family friendly. They are adult and child activities for those to sign up for classes. Which is a plus for me since I have two teenagers. The only thing I don't care for is when I am jogging in the indoor track parents allow their little ones to play ahead and not being watched. They get in the way of my work out. I don't know what the rules are up for this area but it would be nice for parents to keep an eye on their children running around when people as myself are trying to work out. So far so good. Ps. I understood that they will break ground for a indoor pool soon.
