The shop owners were very kind and it was a busy shop when we were in there. They also sold appetizer and dips so they had a few out for customers to try. There was definitely a little bit of everything. It's very much a home decor shop, but yet there were a lot items that could be used for gifts at any time of year. I found a cute Christmas decoration for the house and would've walked out with more if the prices were a little lower. I could get a lot more for my money at a place like Hobby Lobby or Target, but I enjoy shopping local and finding a unique purchase!

True North kept much of the original building's layout , incorporating it directly into the shopping experience: The old resident bedrooms on the first floor were turned into individual shopping stalls, and rooms are named after people who "could have" lived there (like Daisy, Roxy, Inez, and Butch) to help shoppers navigate the maze-like hallways. I began going as a kid, tagging along with my dad when he would buy my mom piece of jewelry for a special occasion. I loved accompanying him and having a say in what he should get her. The last few years I've gone on my own, spending many hours trying on diamond engagement rings and wedding sets. Sue, the owner, has always been gracious (and patient) in letting me wear and admire ring after ring. Some of her rings have a good story behind them, and I always enjoy hearing where certain pieces came from, their style, etc. (Fun fact: her oldest ring is over 200 years old!) Last December, I FINALLY bought a ring from Paraphernalia, which I like to refer to as my "back up engagement ring". The antique engagement ring--dating back to the 1890s--has a row of five stones of mine-cut diamonds and alternating sapphires. It's simple, it's elegant, and--most importantly--it's from an antique from a shop I cherish. For those of you looking for a piece of jewelry, I encourage you to pay a visit to Paraphernalia before walking into any other jewelry store. Once you see all that glistens and sparkles inside Sue's glass cases, you're going to want to stay awhile and try on all of them.

This place is exceptionally dirty, unorganized, and has no rhyme or reason, and I wouldn't have it any other way! It is a thrifters dream. Don't wear something nice, you will get dirty. If you have allergies, take a Claritin before hand. It is worth a visit, trust me! They have furniture, China, glassware, lamps, art, kitchen stuff, old nuts/bolts/fittings, old tools, and more. They have a little bit of everything. It's a labyrinth of small paths, dead ends, strange rooms, all full to the ceiling with stuff, literally stuff hanging from the ceiling.
