First of all, I just wanted to point out that the review below by Mark is for the wrong store. He is referring to the St. Vincent De Paul Deja Vu resale shop. That store is clearly not affiliated with the Deja Vu boutique in Ottawa. Same name only; totally unrelated. I felt this needed to be pointed out since that one-star review is dragging down the overall rating for this wonderfully unique boutique in Ottawa. I haven't had the pleasure of visiting in a year or two because of Covid. It's also an hour away from where I live, but pre Covid, I would happily travel that far to visit. There are always unique items and unique displays, but at Christmastime, the store is transformed into a glittering winter wonderland. Absolutely gorgeous! A cute little shop in downtown Ottawa. I really liked how everything was decorated Christmas and they had a lot of varieties-your typical red and green, whites with flecks of silver and gold, and some really adorable gift items. The shop owners were very kind and it was a busy shop when we were in there. They also sold appetizer and dips so they had a few out for customers to try. There was definitely a little bit of everything. It's very much a home decor shop, but yet there were a lot items that could be used for gifts at any time of year. I found a cute Christmas decoration for the house and would've walked out with more if the prices were a little lower. I could get a lot more for my money at a place like Hobby Lobby or Target, but I enjoy shopping local and finding a unique purchase! read more

Won't waste a penny here, the staff is extremely rude and the items are over priced. I've never had a staff member treat me in such a way to the point where I set down all my items and left blood boiling, why waste my money here when I could easily go to Laurilea's Unique Junk Boutique or In Bloom and be greeted with friendly faces. read more

Beautiful store, beautiful clothes and jewelery, but completely overpriced...I'd have returned to buy a few items, even with the price had the customer service been of any value... the staff is completely rude. Stopped in, my first time, and the lady with the long hair rudely rolled her eyes at my child and me as he smelt soap... if you don't have any children, the soap I purchase is used on him, and we love buying expensive handmade soap for his sensitive skin... she quickly straightened everything up in disgust. It was soap, not glass. I politely brought her rude behavior to her and the other employees attention and was given excuses and treated very rudely. Never in my life have I been treated so poorly as a valued customer. If they have such a problem with people touching the soap of all things then perhaps they should purchase a display case or shelf behind the register and leave one bar of each fragrance out to "test". Or just simply state on the door no children allowed. I'm very disappointed my entire trip to the area was ruined because of the poor taste this shop left in my mouth. Won't be back. This is a great mom and pop shop with friendly and helpful staff. It is a bit pricey on some things but the owner carries quality products for all types of tastes and needs. If you need a gift for a woman in your life, I bet you will find something here! And yes, they have some items that probably appeal to men. The store is beautiful and if you have not seen it at xmas, you are missing out. She carries numerous types of coffee, treats and specialty snacks. She has reproduction vintage and antique items, dog and cat themed gifts, candles, jewelry, holiday decor, purses, wallets, clothes, soaps and perfume, and so much more. She also supports a local pet shelter every year by having a raffle and giving profits of said raffle to the shelter. Occassionaly she has sales but be prepared to spend a little bit more at this store. I often buy gift certificates for my mom as well as coffee. I definitely recommend shopping here. My husband and I brought some family from out of town here, even though I had plans to come back this coming Friday. I thought the products would be something the out-of-towners would like, and I would get an idea of what I would get later on. I saw a very large candle for $89, thought it would be worth it if the scent was quality, my daughter loves the fir scented candles. I was opening a smaller version, and the woman came over to "help" me in a manner that said "let me do it before you break it." When she saw I got it, she made sure to let me know there were smaller versions. I told her that I was actually looking at the large one. She once again, in a rather judgmental way let me know that it was the last one and "well, it's $100." I was taken aback at the condescending attitude she had, as I guess I didn't look like I could afford it. My surprised reply was "well good thing I make a lot of money." I had so much else I had wanted to say, namely, doesn't matter how much money I make, I shouldn't be treated that way. And I don't want to buy anything from someone who would think that way about other people. I have always been an advocate for small businesses, not liking the one-stop shops, but I would rather see this place go out of business and 5 Wal-Marts pop up in its place. read more
