Chicken satay- served with the wrong sauce.

I don't get what all the hype is about. Over greasy, low on flavor food. Sure, it's 'kitsch' because it's an English cafe during the day- but I won't be returning... I'll stick to Rosas, without a question. Fish cakes were rubbery and inedible. Satay sauce was nothing special- how do you go wrong with peanut sauce?? Yellow curry was the best item- but it was only relative.

Crazy little place in a crazy little street near Waterloo station. I mistakenly took Yelps advice and tried to use the internet in this place but they don't have it. Still I needed a quick coffee and cheese roll so this place fitted the bill. Lady who served me was very nice and helpful so will try a Thai meal there at some point.(soon)

Really tasty, fast service and so cheap. We asked for vegan food and they have it too. Perfect!

Marie's is such a hole in the wall spot and you may miss it if you're not looking. We randomly stumbled upon it after a long day of walking and having a craving for some Thai food, my parents and I decided to check it out. The restaurant is pretty small and intimate and we seemed to have gotten there before the dinner rush so had our choice in table. As we were about to leave, a party of 17 came in and practically filled the entire place. Prices were cheap and did not take away from the quality of the food. We had a fine meal - pad thai, yellow curry, Singapore noodles and rice. Great mom and pop shop in the Waterloo neighborhood that's worth the visit. Also, from what it looked like, it was a BYO restaurant.

Great place. Best breakfast on the South Bank. Very affordable. Sue, who is always there, remembers your order. She'll sub items on the menu for Americans like me who don't want pork and beans for breakfast!

Gem in London for well-priced Thai food. Bring cash, your own alcohol, and a big appetite.

He had looked up restaurants that served a full English breakfast, and Kennington Lane Cafe was highly regarded, and it happened to be a few minutes away from our B&B. We loved our breakfast so much that we went back a second day. What I liked about the menu was that is was easy to create exactly what you wanted. You could order a set breakfast (and easily add on extra sides), or you could pick and choose what you wanted, and make the breakfast as small or as large as needed to match your appetite. The breakfast I created had a small steak, fried mushrooms and tomatoes, and bubble and squeak. Delicious! I don't have an itemized bill of exactly what we ordered and the price of each item, but the totals on my credit card bill are £20.89 the first day and £20.50 the second day, and each bill included breakfast and coffee for two. Essentially, you can get a full breakfast for £10 -- a fantastic deal. [Yelp collections: Europe 2024; London, England; Poor and hungry?]

I learned otherwise at Federation which was nice and cozy and like going green with the sustainable options. For example, they only gave you a to-go cup if you were really trying to go. Late morning on a Saturday was probably the absolute -worst- time to make a first foray to Federation Coffee, though. Interminable lines, no free seats*, and 10-15 minute waits for even beverage orders. On the flip side, my iced soy latte was delightful. The jury's still out on this coffee shop. With so many stellar caffeination stations to be had in Clerkenwell, I'd have to 1) already be in Brixton, 2) be really craving a fix, and 3) have someone else suggest a visit here to consider giving it another go. --- * I was fortunate enough to arrive at the perfect time that a cute stranger was getting up; he graciously offered me his stool.
