Ordered lasagna tonight, small pieces covered with a ton of sauce. NOT the size we normally get. Also second order of garlic bread thrown in bag. Not even tightly wrapped in paper. Girl that took my call didn't even bother to come back to tell me that the manager said he would "get to me when he finished with his sausage". Great customer service!!! Ordered online 3 hours before Maria's was open and realized that there's no way to cancel it or call them because they don't have an answer machine and then I set my alarm to call them when they open at 4:00. I didn't get an answer after 5 or 6 times calling finally got an answer at 4:15,explained the situation. The manager said that well your pizza was ready and you can come get it repeatedly through the conversation and refused to do anything about it. I get the frustration on their side but they really need the foresight to have a mechanism to cancel online and the management should quickly come to the realization that if someone is calling about this situation to help them. Who orders 3 hours ahead of time just the F with a restaurant 3 hours later. Also meant that my pizza was done 20 minutes ahead of time. read more

On June 2nd 2024, I placed an order via their Facebook page at 3:35 for 2 XL pizza's. They told me that I'd receive my order at 5:00 at work less then 2 .5 miles away. At 5:35, I called to see what's going on with my order. I was told that "your ticket (order) didn't print out right, but it will be pushed to the front of the line" and I should have everything in 30 to 45 minutes. At 6:40, I called for the last time to be told, "you're order just left with the driver and should be there in minutes". At 7:15, my 2 XL pizzas finally show up, mind you that again I work less then 2.5 miles away. At this point in time, half of my work crew had already left without being able to eat. The food showed up stone cold with no apologies or discount coupons for my next order, no nothing. I guarantee that I will never be giving Maria's Pizza any more of my money. My husband and I stood in line at the restaurant for 20 minutes just to place our order. After seeing countless persons that ordered after us, getting their orders, we went up to the counter to inquire. The overwhelmed girl working the pick up line kept saying it will be soon. We ended up being there for 2 hours with no pizza in site. Needless to say they lost our order. We realize that it was going to be a long wait( I was ready to give them 1 hour) since it just reopened, again. We then asked for our money back as we were both tired and hungry by that time. The owner came out and spoke very loudly for all the other people standing in lines that "We aren't really suppose to be open" This is a "soft" opening, "We have all new staff" and it went on and on. No apology to the fact that they "misplaced" our order. It's really just a shame that the owner could not come clean and admit their mistake. We really do like the pizza there but it will be a very long time before we do business with them again if ever! This "losing our ticket" has happened to us before. Had Maria's for the first time last night and loved it. First, I love supporting businesses (like Maria's) that are protecting their workers and the public by limiting their services to only takeout and delivery. Second, the food was delicious. They have a variety of pizza styles and options but we opted for their thin crust pizzas. We ordered three different kinds, including one gluten free crust (thank you!!!), and some jalapeño poppers. They don't skimp on the toppings! Don't forget get to get a couple extra sides of their marinara and Maria's sauce for dipping as well. We will be ordering from here again. read more

This has become my favorite stop when I visit Freeport. You order at the counter and pay and get a number you place in a holder on your table. Your server brings your order out when ready. Bottomless fountain drinks. I had salad, ravioli, and drink for under $10 so I left a good tip as the servers work hard. Mine was very attentive to my needs. It's not fine dining but the food and atmosphere is above average. I went looking for the place with the most cars. The locals eat here. read more

Every time I have family visit from out of town they say CALL MARIAS! People that didn't even grow up here love Maria's pizza and their our sauce. I've even had people ask me to send some in the mail to Chicago or Michigan. They are frequently busy and sometimes you have to wait or they make small mistakes but it' because the food is good and they have sooo many people ordering so that's understandable. You can never get through to this place..tonight, I called for an hour and each time was sent to a voicemail mailbox. Every time we do get food from here, it always takes longer than they say it will and the customer service at the front is terrible. They don't even apologize for the wait or slow service. Maria's food is good but their service is terrible. If you dine in be prepared to meet ALL of your own needs. The server came to our booth and said "Is everything okay here? Do you need anything?" When we mentioned needing a fork, she pointed in the direction of the silverware/napkin/drink station and said "they're over there." (tone was more like "get it yourself") Why stop by and ask how we're doing if you don't care enough to follow through? Also, when they bring out the food, unless you order pizza, you get one order at a time brought out to you. So, if you're eating as a family, everyone ends up eating their own meal while others are waiting to receive theirs. If you order the spaghetti and meatballs, you'll get a huge pile of pasta and only one dinky meatball. Enjoy it though.... it's good. read more

The food is good...if you can get it! This is the 3rd time I have ordered delivery trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Each time they told me it would be 30-90minutes (90 min is absurd) and each time it took over 2 hours. I had one chance for Freeport's pizza scene to make a good first impression on me, so I had to choose carefully. Thank you, Maria's, for making my mouth happy and helping me to see this town in a positive light. Some friends and I ordered a couple pies for a post-move celebration, and everyone was in agreement that we were dealing with a quality product here. I stuck with a simple one-topping pepperoni, and I loved every bite. The quantity of meat was good, the sauce was slightly sweet, the cheese was real and plentiful, and the crust was just crusty enough. I dearly love Maria's Pizza. So much so that when I lived in Sycamore I would pick up pizza on the way back home after visiting my family - just to eat it the next day. The pizza has this fantastic sauce. It's sweet and YUM. It just tastes phenomenal. It's better than just about every pizza I've tried and it surpasses the chain pizzas in every way. The appetizers are also great and you can get pasta with a similar sauce to the pizza. They offer great coupon deals if you watch for them and the price without a coupon isn't that bad either. I'd say the place looks a little "meh" on the inside - it needs some spunk to make it look more inviting and I think the cashier/order takers need a lesson or two in customer service - not rude, just disinterested - and the parking can be tricky. read more

Our family and extended family loves Maria's. They always have pizza specials and the pizzas are AWESOME. Yes, they are busy (most of the time), and yes, once in a while you have to wait ...but it is worth it! The tortellini and cheese bread are delicious as well. Since they opened the new lounge next door, it is fun for a meet and greet with adults for a couple of adult beverages. Just order pizza from next door and they hand deliver it to the lounge! I personally think it is the best pizza in Freeport. Better than Ciminnos. The inside of the building it is ok, nothing too fancy, just a normal pizza joint, kinda dingy. I like the fried mushrooms, pretty yummy. Deluxe toppings pizza was real good. Haven't had a problem with their service or management. Sitting here in restaurant now. Pizza looks and smells good. However I really must comment on the dumbest policy that I've come across.... I ordered 2 pizzas and a pasta dish. Clerk tells me that a pasta dish comes with garlic bread and a salad. So I request ranch dressing. Lady then tells me it'll be about 20 minutes. I then request food to go, as we are taking some of it home to grandma. She then tells me that the salad only is optional if we are dining in, therefore I am declined the salad. I think to myself "Hmm, is it a buffet style salad bar?" Turns out that it isn't. So I ask if I can have my salad while we wait at a table for 20 minutes. I am declined this option as well. WTF, this is the most ignorant non sensical policy I've ever encountered. Def won't come back just out of spite. read more

We have Maria's pizza nearly every week. A large 3 topping pizza and drinks for less than $11.00. We think the pizza is very good and a tremendous value. I can also recommend their Italian Sausage and Roast Beef sandwiches. The bread is very good! Parking can be a bit of a problem but their parking has been expanded with a gravel lot behind the building. Another downside is that it can get pretty loud when busy. Finally, they keep it really chilly...a sweater for the ladies might be a good idea. read more

Not only does Maria's serve fantastic pizza at a great price. At a recent Art of Marriage Seminar I attended in Freeport, Maria's provided pizzas free of charge! The pizzas were hot and delicious on delivery. They provided a good selection and there were a lot of them. There must have been dozens of pizzas. I used to work in a pizza place in Milwaukee, WI and I know that with large orders you sometimes have to par-bake them the night before and then heat them through and deliver them quick day of. Quality suffers in cases like that but it is necessary when small restaurants have to fill large orders. Not so with these pizzas. They were just as good as if you were sitting at a table in the restaurant. read more

Last evening we ate at your Pizza place for dinner. There were 9 of us. We also ordered 2 large salads to share. The food was fine but there were no salad tongs or even spoons. We asked but told there were no spoons. We then had to eat the salad by forking bits of it onto our plates. This would not be good re the Health dept. We came to freeport & decided on Marias for a casual dinner. Spent $35 for a great combo sandwich, a salad & pizza. What really killed the experience was they wouldnt give a box for left over pizza. We had to pay 50 cents or use 5 stryrofoam containers. How ridiculous can the owner be to charge for a pizza box with his co name on it. OMG read more
