The pizza panini and chocolate raspberry cannoli... y-u-m.
    Dawn R.

I LOVE this food truck! They have come to my office several times and I've stopped & seen them at other places. My go-to is the pizza panini... crunchy pressed garlic toast, gooey cheese, meat, pizza sauce... oh my yum!!! And today I had a chocolate raspberry cannoli with it. 3 hours later I'm still so content after today's lunch! Price is not bad either.. $8 and it's a big hearty panini. (Recently I paid $12 for a bbq brisket & Mac cheese bowl which was much smaller from another food truck). Maria is super friendly and the food is ready fairly quickly. If you come across them it's worth checking out.

I enjoyed the decor and while it was spring break on campus could see it as a bustling site. The sandwich was a combination BLT and a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich. The bacon was crusty, the toasted bread had a nice crunch and none of the parts overwhelmed each other. The pickle I got on the side was crisp and not overly garlicky. Definitely will go back next time I'm on campus.

The place itself is very quaint, and I know it's been around for a while--I have actually enjoyed their food previously when their food truck visited my workplace. The people working there were extraordinarily kind, attentive, and pleasant. The atmosphere was entirely charming. I could have taken a lot of time touring their knick knacks. I was excited for this yelp elite event because the grilled cheese I previously had from their food truck was unbelievably good. Maybe my expectations were too high, based on that earlier experience, or maybe the flavor of this particular dish just didn't land quite right for my palate. It is also possible that I was confused what I was leaving with. When I walked in, I told the person that I was there for the elite event and they said to wait a second because cookies are coming out of the oven and she didn't want to send me out with a burnt cookie... so maybe I was a little disappointed that after giving me the container they asked me if I wanted to buy anything else. I understand they are running a business, and the approach felt a bit... misdirection-ed? I took the food back to my workplace and found myself a bit underwhelmed. The mac and cheese wasn't bad; actually, it was good. Still, I have a palate that likes bold flavor. The flavor was there. Tasted like some black pepper, maybe some smoked paprika? It was good. It definitely wasn't as bold as I might have expected. If I'd had some hot sauce handy, I would have enjoyed it far more? Also, I guess somewhat parenthetically, one of the chips fell out of the container, and when I tried it on its own, I was surprised it didn't seem very fresh; just slightly squishy to the bite. Given the chance, I would definitely return, but this particular dish probably wouldn't be my first choice next time.

No sir, umbrellas abounded, as folks meandered from truck to truck, sniffing the air for answers to what's cookin', tempting them to certain trucks. It rather smelled like the fair, in a GOOD way, food scents wafting by, mingling with each other as giddy people paid no attention to each other or even their cell phones in an effort to decide which truck to order from. BBQ? Vietnamese? Sweets? Mexican??!! Greek? Oh boy, what fragrant air filled the Eastern Hills Mall parking lot on Transit Road this day. What a concept! If only the trucks lined up like this, like a train, one after the other, once a month instead of annually. Boy, it was our lucky day! We just happened to stumble upon the line up. I knew I must try the Black Market Food Truck, for they served the most awesome food at the Yelp Elite International Institute event recently and I knew I'd find my way to them once again. Today I tried the corn and black bean hummus, and it was delectable with a bite, and beautifully presented, and from a TRUCK! Little slanted slices of crispy dipping bread was alongside the cupful of hummus. Mister ditched the umbrella and hoofed it quickly to Lloyd's and oh my, was that burrito nummy! He ordered the one with braised beef and it was so flavorful, just like home cooked beef, and I seldom eat beef. Rolled in a 12" tortilla, with rice, black beans, a jack/cheddar cheese blend, finely shredded cabbage, chimichurri, and salsa roja it was perfectly spicy and delicious, a plentiful portion of goodness. And for $6.50? Hands down the best burrito I've tasted. We splurged on a Mexican Coca-Cola, super yum taste from childhood, before "corn syrup" took over the real sugar ingredient around these parts. In this inclement weather, not one server had a scowl, all were cheerful and happily serving it up from high upon their truck-turned-order-window. Kudos to all who work the food trucks, may you prosper with such ingenuity and hard work. As in many of my posts, give these non-chain folks the business, they have way more at stake than a fast food joint. Reward them with your patronage! Follow them on their websites and spread the word; give your fellow residents, friends and neighbors the chance to thrive. And Eastern Hills Mall, hellooooo, you folks have done so much for the community since new management took over. How about bringing in the trucks on certain Saturdays, monthly, at least? Pretty please?!

So as not to overestimate, when calculating Maths, I usually think it's better to "Round Down", but…read morethis food truck festival believes otherwise. I'm sure they'd love me to "Round Up" to a 4, but I can't. Larkin Square has the same issues (massively overpriced with really low standards), but their selection is magnificent (40 to 50 per Tuesday), and they have the influx of Rochester trucks to improve the quality - the Buffalo ones are awful for the most part. I must have spent a good $50 just trying to sample 6 or 7 of these food trucks, which I think is preposterous. Almost everything I ate was average or just really, really bad. The Black Market Food Truck was one enjoyable exception. I wrote reviews of most of these trucks, and then was sent abuse by the owner of my least fave of the trucks I tried - Roaming Buffalo. Plus it was outside and we all got soaking wet as well as ripped off. Despite all the negativity I associate with this event, it's still a bunch of locals trying to get by, and it's still a food truck rodeo in a town that didn't have food trucks for a long time. So I'll give it a 3. But the standard needs to go way up and the prices need to go down, in order for me to ever give food trucks my repeated business in this city.

There is a $5 fee to enter the area, however drinks being only $5 or $6 and considering the live music, the door charge doesn't seem outrageous. I was impressed by the staff they have canvassing the area to pick up trash and empty bottles and cans. They keep the environment tidy and enjoyable. There were plenty of food trucks with a lot of variety on this particular night, but it can vary from week to week. I have attended on occasions when the food lines were overly long also.

I don't really understand why. It's nice they give you a free drink for paying admission to help make up for it. For beer/liquor/wine drinkers it's worth it. For soda and water drinkers, it's not, because they're not worth $5 for 1 bottle/can. Ticket times were so short, which was super awesome. I wish the food trucks had smaller portions for a lower price, so that you could try more things without getting full so quickly. I also wish there was more food trucks there. I felt the options were very slim and the menus were very similar to each other and I wanted to try something new. Breezy Bowls: I tried the Breezy Bowl. 10/10. Asked for no blueberries. It was very good. Açaí is on the sweeter side, along with the honey in there. Center street BBQ: -Pulled pork burrito 7/10. I forgot what this was actually called. It's absolutely humongous. You could share this between 2-4 people. Could do without the rice inside. Good but it's a texture thing with the meat that's a little off. I ate about half of it. -Bbq sauces were good. The Batavia one i liked better than the original. -The Pig Plate 8/19. was really good. Mac and cheese needs to be more cheesy. Add BBQ sauce on the side for some more flavor. I'd get this again. -Bacon Mac and cheese 7/10. It's not terrible, needs a little more cheese sauce though Macarollin': -Peanut Butter Cheesecake 8/10. Kyles rating. He doesn't know why it's an 8. Also I can't remember the actual name but I think you can get the gist of it. It was very similar to my moms peanut butter pie, just not as creamy.. more firm like cheesecake, which is what he wanted. He would eat this again!
