Unreliable and Overpriced - Avoid Mariano's Landscape I hired Mariano's Landscape (based in Moreno Valley) in December 2024 to landscape my backyard. From the start, the experience has been frustrating and disappointing. Their services are expensive, and I expected quality work. Unfortunately, that's not what I received. The owner, Gabriel Mariano, planted diseased trees and assured me they would recover in warmer weather or be replaced. Months later--after numerous phone calls and site visits--nothing has been done. Communication has been all talk, with no follow-through. The concrete patio was another major issue. It was poured with a weak sand-and-cement mix that lacked any gravel or aggregate. I raised concerns, and they promised a quality control inspection would visit the job-site. No one ever came and Gabriel could not provide the name or license number of the concrete subcontractor they used. Bottom line: once they're paid, they disappear. They don't stand behind their work or resolve problems. I do not recommend Mariano's Landscape. The pictures speak for themselves. read more

Unfortunately this company and its owner are like most other landscapers. Over promise and underperform. In this case trees were planted back in January that were diseased and I called them on it. They assured me the trees would come back or he'd replace them. In addition, his concrete sub contractor who he refuses to name poured sand mix instead of concrete with a course aggregate. His standards of work product are unsatisfactory and his word is useless. A complaint to the CSLB is in progress. I can't recommend a business that doesn't stand by their work. Unfortunately, Mariano's landscape is a "Take the money and run" type of business. If you want quality work and a business to stand by their word, look elsewhere. read more

I had decided to have my yards landscaped. I had specific ideas in my mind. I had searched Yelp and several answered my request. Some had there ideas and not mine. Trying to be polite, but they were just kinda pushy to me. Then Gabriel from Mariano's Landscape contacted me came out and gave me a bid for my backyard, then we talked about concrete. Well as I was deciding what to do, I had Gabriel come back and give me a bid on a courtyard, surrounding block wall, and driveway! For me personally it just wasn't the cost, it was trusting the person, how honest the person was and if they stand by their word! I have unfortunately found that there's not many people with all of these qualities. Well to me Gabriel was the person. He listened to our requests and he had input on things too! He ended up pouring 7500' of concrete. Full driveway, circle around our fountain, to the garage and space for our RV. Then block wall surrounding courtyard in front of our house. Rockscape with trees and cactus front and backyard. Just beautiful work. This made me happy to see something more than dirt and trees. By the way we have 5 acres so this was a great improvement! Gabriel and his team were very hard workers, I would smile when I would hear singing and laughter while they worked. They would stop for lunch at 11:00 and then back to work. Gabriel had great ideas, offered suggestions to make both the courtyard and backyard even more spectacular; giving me solid, attractive alternatives to help me stay within my budget. His crew was fantastic. They arrived bright and early each morning, worked hard and cleaned up every day. It was a big job. I have used various landscaper for different projects and only a few live up to their hype. Mariano's lives up to his hype. The website has a gallery of beautiful work performed with a variety of different types and sizes of yards. We wanted a drought tolerant desert garden. We have had numerous landscapers start and abandon work for bigger jobs. Some companies wouldn't touch it because they were afraid to inherit someone else's work. A friends husband finished cleaning and clearing the front yard as well line and pour the gravel we ordered. We just needed a design for plants and a focal point. I didn't have a lot to spend so I was fearful of hiring a landscape architect but being that Mariano was licensed and verified by Yelp and offered a free consultation, I thought I would give it a try. I shared numerous images I saved from Pinterest and Mariano easily understood what we w looking for. He rough sketched a rendering of what he understood and we took the dialoge to the next stage. We began to edit the rendering; adding and subtracting different elements until we found the perfect mix. I live near Big Bear Lake and it can be a little difficult finding quality, trustworthy contractors. It's just the way things work up here. After a few "misses" I went to Home Depot Pro Contractor Resources and Tools online page in search of contractors as my sister had some good luck in the past. I reached out to Gabriel from Mariano Landscaping and, after a long drive up the hill, he arrived on time and we discussed a large-scale project I've been considering but really wanted the insight of a professional. And Gabriel delivered just that. When you go to a mechanic, if you don't know much about cars, you're pretty much at their mercy. Not much different with contractors. So when I hear someone say, "You don't really need this done," as Gabriel did, they've earned my trust immediately. He explained all the options that were on the table, the benefits and drawbacks of each and really took the time to make sure I had as much information as possible. I highly recommend Mariano's Landscape for quality work, reasonable pricing, and professional attention to detail in their performance. Gabriel Mariano provides effective and efficient service, and a crew who demonstrates commitment to the job. Tony and Nacho were assigned to remove a huge bougainvillea from our front entrance and dig out the root system in multiple locations without causing damage to surrounding tile in the courtyard. Additionally, they determined how to redirect the irrigation system to eliminate further water damage to the existing tile and ensure the garden area would be properly watered without over-spraying onto the walk area. They came to the worksite as expected and worked diligently throughout the day to accomplish the task. My wife and I were exceedingly pleased with how they got the work done and the results. They cleaned up the debris and hauled it away, and left the courtyard in a pristine condition. Additionally, they repaired a damaged sprinkler on the side of the driveway and replaced ort adjusted other sprinklers to ensure proper functioning. They just came for initial inspection & gave me a quote.. tried to call them & get hold of them to begin the project & they never respond.. once got hold of the owner again on call & he connected me to the estimator on conference call & when talking he disconnected the call.. Mariano's initially did a good job cleaning up my yard, from another gardener who was not good...However, after removing a tree, my sprinkler system was damaged and It was never repaired. Weekly service was spotty, with many skipped weeks of service. Not reliable, I hired this company to maintain my front lawn every two weeks. Simple job: edge, mow and take care of 2 flower beds. The flower beds I handled myself but my mother asked one time if they trim a small rose bush. The response was $10.00, haw. Mowing & edging was fine, the problem is No Show.
