On February of this year, only 8 months ago, I spent $800 at this jewelry store for two simple earrings. The earrings are designed with a flat back and a screw-in mechanism, that means you dont even have to take off to sleep. At least this is what I was told then. Initially, this seemed like a justified expense for the convenience and quality promised.
However, by end of October, one of the earrings ($400) fell off, and I was left with just the back. As an engineer with a PhD, it's perplexing how a screw-in product could fail so quickly, especially without being subjected to years of wear and tear, not even 1 year!
I returned to the store to address this issue, but the piercing woman was extremely rude and claimed that I was supposed to tighten the earring often, which I was never told to do so and even their care instructions explicitly state "do not turn or rotate your jewelry." She showed no interest in resolving the situation and neither did the manager. She seemed on the defense as oppose to try to find a resolution. Furthermore, the remaining earring was stuck. I tried to remove it previously with no luck and I even tried again in-front of her with no luck. I asked, "it should unscrew to the left, correct?" Her rude response was "lefty loosy." I asked her to do it since I could not do it and she couldn't unscrew it counterclockwise either and ended up turning it clockwise to remove it. When I pointed out that she didn't even know how to use it, she ignored me. This earning being so hard to remove demonstrated more my point that my other earning fell due to a mechanism failure, system fault!
In contrast, when I had a similar issue with one of my Cartier love bracelet around 7 years ago, they replaced the section without hesitation, understanding that a screw-in mechanism should not fail and it was not the customer's fault.
DO NOT WASTE your money here; you will likely lose your jewelry within 8 months and receive poor customer service in the process. read more
