Found myself a new doctor! Dr. Maria Jirka is great! She was very nice and explained things thoroughly to me. She took the time to get to know me and when I had questions she was more than happy to answer them and even busted out a book to better demonstrate things for me. Nobody likes going to the doctor so it's nice to have a doctor that is nice and makes doctor visits a bit more bearable. I liked her so much that I've decided to switch my mom over to her too. A doctor that actually cares about you is top notch in my book. read more

Maria Jirka, MD - Internal Medicine Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

Jesse the one answered the phone for appointment wasn't friendly at all. It is very hard to book appointment for new patient. The earliest is in April for Dr. Anton and October for Dr. Maria. read more

Dr Jirka used to be a very caring person would spend time to make sure she understood your needs. I got passed on somehow to the PA have not been able to see Dr Jirka or get medications needed! After being with her for so many years I am now having to look for a new doctor. I have requested her to call me and I have not got a call back from her I guess it's not important that she loses a 15-year patient maybe she's too busy now. read more

I love Dr. Jirka but the office staff is horrible when it comes to getting the phone answered if you call around four. You can be on hold for at least 30 minutes and then they'll hang up on you. If you have to call, best time to call and get through is usually in the morning. The computer portal for appointments is also a plus but when your appointment time is changed by the office, you sometimes have to talk to someone. read more

Have been seeing Dr. Maria Jirka for 2 years after my other primary retired. She is competent, thorough and professional. We have full conversations about my exam and any concerns. I have found her to be personable and she made me feel comfortable and confident with her care. The office staff although seemingly disorganized at times has treated me well. No issues. read more

DR Maria Jirka is great. PA Romney is really nice. However their staff (receptionist, office manager and assistant Anja) should receive an award for incompetency and all be fired. Every time you try to call Anja for follow up you NEVER get a return call. I have missed appointments with numerous specialists because they have been unable to complete referrals with 1-2 weeks notice. I have tried to call for med refills, lab follow ups, referrals, progress on obtaining durable medical equipment. ...not ONE call back received. If you want something done, show up in person (thus the total and complete incompetency of these people). The office staff misspelled my last name on the portal login so now I'm supposed to use an incorrect name to access my info? Professional. Every time you call the front desk you are put on hold. From anywhere from 3-25 min. Yup. The front desk staff is rude and doesn't know, or care to exercise, basic manners i.e. please/ thank yous. I have been trying, for three weeks now, to get in touch with Anja. I just got off the phone with a front desk person who assured me the office manager would call me back...okay. This is the same office manager that for three weeks assured me she was going to issue me a refund check, gave me every excuse in the book to include the doctor who has the checkbook is on FMLA, never heard back from her and had to file a dispute with my bank. Furthermore she likes to inform people she's been there x amount of years a d she's never made a balance mistake. ...til me! Dr Jirka is great but her office staff act like they are bitter, angry and simply do not understand the concept of patient care and customer service. read more

Horrible. You get 10 minute appointments and you only get to schedule the appt with only 1 question. You can never ask about different problem areas and must schedule another appt for that. Asking for treatment of things get brushed off and their is no empathy from the PA or Dr. Everyone who walks in for an appt is just to them. read more

I have been a patient for 5 years and it wasn't until recently that I experienced complete neglect in proper care from a doctor and their staff. I had to visit Maria and Anton two-three times to get proper tests done before I landed in the hospital. When I received my results a receptionist left me a voicemail on a Friday saying she would explain everything on Monday because it was Friday and the office closes early. I had to wait all weekend in pain with no medicine prescribed based on my results. When I was in the hospital doctors were confused of the level of care Maria and Anton's office provided and even more confused as to why they did not prescribe me the appropriate medication. I followed up with Anton jirka after my hospital visit and explained my diagnosis he still did not have an explanation for my diagnosis and ordered more tests. It took me two weeks to retrieve my lab results due to the careless office staff and medical assistants. If I had the option to give no stars I would give none. I refuse to give Maria and Anton Jirka the title Doctor when they have been only playing the part instead of actually doing their job. read more

This really is a review for the MedFirst Primary Babcock office staff. While I really like the PA the entire front office staff is rude and unprofessional. You can read the other reviews and see how they run behind all the time and expect you to be 15 minutes early. I understand that may be a policy of theirs but when you explaining you drive over an hour to get there snd they are like you need to reschedule because you weren't early it's ridiculous! It obvious they don't have your best health at interest! Just a heads up if you are thinking of making this place your primary care facility. Last time I'll be seen there no need to reschedule I can find another provider that the staff has half a brain! read more

Was referred to this office by my tricare insurance. Upon calling to make an appointment I was told the pediatrician was out of the office with no return date, but that they'd call me as soon as he returns. 3 week later I call the check back and am told the doctor is not a pediatrician, but he'll see my kids... Oh wait, but they don't take Tricare! I told them on the first call I had Tricare. Thanks for wasting 3 weeks of my time... read more

If it is kind of an emergency they will do their best to try to accomodate you later in the day.

As a patient we signed a paper saying we agree to pay a no-show fee if not calling to cancel the appointment. But it does not work the other way around. Today, during the snow, at 12 noon, I received a text saying I should check in online for my appointment, (which is at 14:30). I tried to call the office, no specific message regarding inclement weather left for patients, so I believe my appointment was on. I got out, cleaned the snow from my car, and drove in the yucky weather to get to the clinic. And they were closed. It was so unprofessional that they did not try to contact the patients individually to cancel. This could have prevented any efforts made to get there safely especially in the weather like this. What I learned from this lesson is that if they don't have the courtesy to call us to cancel the appointment. We should not worry about being charged the no show fee on the days like this. I'm thinking about going to another clinic, This is not a free clinic, we pay, and we expect great service with professionalism. I have no great impression about this clinic anyway, the staff is so arrogant and unfriendly! read more

I was very impressed with Dr. Maria Jirka and her assistant. They are both amazing and truly felt welcomed. With Dr. Jirka she was exactly how she was expressed to me. She truly listened to my needs and concerns and spoke with a passion for her profession. I know I am in great hands with my health. If you are looking for a new doctor in the area or like me willing to travel to see her make your change to Dr. Maria Jirka she is worth it!!!! Thank you Dr. for being an amazing Dr. but, also a human being who does care for her patients. Thank you again.... PS. Front desk staff needs more training on customer service and communicating with Dr. patients and acknowledging them when they walk up to the front. A smile, a welcome gesture would go along way..... read more

I've been with Dr. Jirka's office for over three years. I've been seeing the nurse practitioner the whole time. Never actually met Dr. Jirka, which is ok. I very much like my nurse practitioner; she's very good and kind. The frustration I have with using Dr. Jirka's office is that you can never get anyone to pick up the phone or to call you back. There was a point where I called over 5 times over a week period to request prescription refill and no one called me back. Additionally, I tried to schedule an appointment in March and no one called back, ever. My fiancé has also had a lot of trouble getting through. He was switching pharmacy to optumrx and optumrx was not able to confirm with Dr. Jirka's office because no one picked up the phone nor called them back. We just received notice that my fiancé will not be able to get his prescription this morning due to not being able to get a hold of Dr. Jirka's office. The administration is quite terrible. read more
