My family has stayed at the Beaver Dam Creek House twice for our bi-annual Thanksgiving in New York…read moreextravaganza. Our most recent visit was so memorable that I had to write a review and tell my fellow yelpers about this little gem. The Beaver Dam Creek House is not your typical snooty tooty bed and breakfast. Upon entering the door you are greeted by Summer, the friendly Golden Retreiver and official welcoming committee. She happily wags her tail and is thrilled to have new guests come and stay at the house. Jeanne, the owner is very friendly, mellow and full of great information about nearby restaurants, the best shopping, and where to go for great bargains. The home is tastefully beach themed and filled with all sorts of antique touches. Each room is unique and has a different feel. There are beautiful mirrors, refurbished and antique furniture, seashells, old wood paneling, gorgeous wall paper and crown molding. The home is also filled with all of the modern necessities like TV, cable, internet, dvd's, books, boardgames, magazines, and a jacuzzi. Everything is very clean and you get fresh sheets and towels on a regular basis. Our family has quite a few food allergies and Jeanne was extremely understanding and accommodating; Each morning we awoke to asparagus quiche, scrambled eggs, sausage, hot coffee with dairy and non-dairy creamer, orange juice, bagels with cream cheese and fresh fruit. She also kept fresh fruits, vegetables, pita chips and hummus for us, knowing that we were California health nuts. I've stayed at bed and breakfasts before but I've never experienced the kindness, hospitality and sense of "home" that Jeanne creates at Beaver Dam Creek House. Our family absolutely loved our stay and we plan to go back every other year to celebrate Thanksgiving at our favorite spot. It's perfect for laid back families like ours who enjoy the freedom of a less structured bed and breakfast with a home away from home feel.

So even though I was far from my home waters in California I was able to get on the water and see ducks and a great blue heron...very nice perk. The accommodations are very nice and Jeanne's friendliness and easy going manner helped to make our stay very pleasant. Jeanne is an excellent host and I can't wait to return! The WiFi is strongest in the kitchen area and is free.

Like Arielle W., we found this place through bbonline.com…read more It's almost at the end of a dead-end-at-the-docks street, so it's nice and quiet. Clean and well-appointed rooms, if a little too froo-froo-ey for me. But who cares about latticework over the bed when the cool beach breezes beckon? Breakfast is indeed bitchin', to again echo Arielle. After groggily descending the stairs, wandering into the dining room all full of sunlight and breeze, and meeting a table full of strangers, you might get a greeting like this: "So I guess you're all wondering why I gathered us here today. It's about Uncle Charlie's will." This was delivered by a fellow guest who happened to be seated at the head of the table.... Anyway, as soon as you get seated they'll start whipping up some tucker for ya. We had crepes one morning and French toast the next; both were great. Staff was super friendly, chill, keen to give us tips on places to check out, directions on how to get there, etc. Good spot.

Each room has a lot of privacy, which I loved. Usually bed and breakfasts aren't my thing, but this one was great! We didn't hear anything for 20 or so minutes so I go up to the hostess, she politely asked can I help you? I said yes can you tell me about how much longer the wait is? Her response was that she didn't have a reservation under my name and would I like to be put on her waiting list..... at this point I laughed, your kidding right? No mam I nicely reminded her of our conversation but only a meer 30 minutes ago..... oooooh yeah 10 minutes later we sat. Finally I'm starving..... drink and apps on order... all is well or so I thought until I opened my napkin and my silverware was dirty (food still on knife)..... gross! Then my margarita that I ordered with sugar came... wooo hop but one big lick and I almost died spitting out a mouth of salt out..... thank god I had water with lemon and lime because that was ruff... so anyway my drink came wrong and my husbands beer had to be asked for twice... apps came in a timely manner the Ahi tuna was fantastic the taco's were delicious (we had one of each) and they where really fresh. I asked Miss can we get another round? Drinks never came. But Dinner came and it as amazing! My husband had the sea scallops that were out of this world super rich, creamy and overall very satisfying and Very filling !!! I had the ribs that were a touch on the dry side but the meat fell off the bone and overall they had a good taste! All throughout out our dining experience I noticed there were workers shuffling about typing in their I pads as to be entering data or something... not sure but it would have been better if one of them would have asked can I help you? Because we never got our drink order and we asked three times, very sad! The ladies room has one stall so be sure that you go before you have to go!! Long story short just get the food to go..... lmfao the staff was useless!

We spent a couple of nights in the Hampton's and really loved the Shearwater Inn…read more Maureen (the owner) was excellent... supremely helpful with advice on where to eat, where to go and what to do - and you should be aware that beach parking passes are provided too (you can pay $20-$40 a day parking at the beach, so these are a welcome inclusion in your room rate!). The inn is a beautiful property that was custom built as a B&B and has a large open plan sitting room and dining area as well as wonderfully clean and cared for rooms with soft sheets and comfy beds... Breakfast was excellent. We couldn't have Maureen's special one day due to allergies, so she made us eggs as we wanted them, without any fuss. The negative review gave us a big chuckle because there is nothing in that review that bears any resemblance to Maureen and the Shearwater Inn... the breakfast is not sloppy and if there's anything you need you just have to ask for it and Maureen will get it for you. Tea and coffee is not served in paper cups at all... there are china mugs available and you can help yourself to tea and coffee as you see fit... All in all, a wonderful stay and cannot recommend the Shearwater Inn highly enough; a lovely property with a wonderful hostess... definitely worth staying here :-)

The breakfast each morning was out of this world... Just the smell alone, wafting up the stairs was enough to make you hungry. As a vegetarian (who doesn't eat eggs), Victor & Cam prepared a delicious breakfast for me. Also, Cam's blueberry muffins are chef's kiss! The enclosed backyard is a nice perk, my little guy loved running around & sniffing everything. The owners have an elderly dog, Molly, who is an absolute sweetheart - Very welcoming to us newcomers invading her space. We will absolutely come back! We were there in "off peak" season but had pretty great weather. Cam and Victor's breakfasts are also sooo delicious (the biscuits!!!). We can't say enough about how great this visit was- and so thankful for their hospitality- and loving on our Jadey girl. We'll definitely be back!
