She is so patient with Miguel and knows how to capture him in the moment (I have yet found a photographer who can capture Miguel laughing or smiling in a photo like she has). Personally my experience with mari has been nothing but phenomenal! She keeps in touch and sends me updates about my sessions. I've always came back to her even when there's other photographers in Ventura asking when I'd book with them. (Usually try others once just because of friendship but always find myself booking again with mari consistently) her work has improved over the years, her editing style is something I always loved and obsessed over. If I could rate Mari zero stars I absolutely would! I'm writing this review in hopes that the next person that considers hiring Mari as their photographer sees this review and takes their money elsewhere as she becomes extremely unresponsive once you pay for her services, continuously posts on her instagram story blaming her unresponsiveness on her health issues as apposed to addressing this with clients directly (all while continuing to advertise her booking page to take money from new customers), and then will finally reach out the night prior at 9pm to discuss details when you had continuously been trying to get details settled and your questions answered regarding possible locations WEEKS PRIOR. Maternity photos are meant to be something you are excited for, instead I was put through the stress of not knowing if my shoot was indeed going to happed and was gaslighted for finally putting my foot down. She refused to issue me a full refund even though she admitted having poor communication, failing to send me location details, and failing to send me confirmation on square that my shoot was indeed rescheduled to the date we had discussed until the night prior to my shoot. While I normally would take a text message as confirmation, she had offered me a date in the past, had become unresponsive, to then finally reply that "[she] never confirmed even though [she] mentioned it". At that point I requested a call back to discuss my questions and concerns which I never received. With: *My shoot being 3 days away. *No call back to discuss my questions and concerns. *A history of her ghosting me to then being unavailable. *No confirmation through square that my shoot was indeed rescheduled to the date proposed. *No locations details (which she previously communicated would be sent 1 week prior) I reached out requesting a refund. She then didn't reply to me until the the night prior to my shoot (9pm) saying she barely saw my messages and was planning to send me the location details then. She then tried GASLIGHTING me saying that I was being unreasonable for wanting my questions answered in advance. Is it unreasonable to want to know where your shoot is going to take place more than 24 hours in advance when you are driving from an hour and a half away and need to request time off work to attend your session? Again, I absolutely understand someone putting their health first, but if that was truly the case wouldn't the ethical thing to do be to first focus on responding to clients that had already paid for your services and were waiting for your reply than to be consistently active on instagram advertising for new clients to book a session with you? Or to offer a refund to those scheduled if you were unable to keep up with all your clientele? Clearly this is not an outlier situation when the vast majority of her reviews are poor reviews of women going through very similar experiences dating back from two years ago. I'm still trying to work this out with her and get my full refund (not something a pregnant women should be dealing with at 35 weeks pregnant). If she continues to refuse to resolve this situation, I will be filing a complaint to the better business bureau in hopes that they address the situation with her directly to avoid this from happening to others (note: based on other yelp reviews I wouldn't be the first to file such complaint). Please please don't be fooled by her instagram marketing, yes she takes beautiful photos but no it's absolutely not worth the amount of stress she puts her clients through, especially being pregnant. It's unfortunate because Mari is a great photographer but she's a thief that clearly continues to target pregnant and young woman! My 19-year-old daughter who is a full-time student saved up her money to purchase a photo session for me as a gift. The day of our session, Mari contacted my daughter 30 minutes prior to the appointment time she scheduled(months prior) to to push out the appointment time by an hour (which was totally fine)... 1 hour prior to the rescheduled appointment time (THAT SHE REQUESTED) she sent another text basically canceling the appointment! Keep in mind, I had already payed for hair/makeup for me and my daughters, and requested half-day off from work! Mari went MIA after canceling the appointment and refused to respond to text messages and multiple attempts to get a hold of her to try to reschedule the appointment that SHE CANCELED. So disappointed since I was really looking forward to my maternity session that never happened. I booked her in May, paid in full, for August and was excited since it was my last pregnancy. Long story short my photo shoot was rescheduled due to excessive heat, didn't know it would be in Agoura Hills and in August I mean it is hot! Anyways we rescheduled for the following week, I went into labor early wasn't due until Sept. I txtd her to let her know and she replied, said we can do a newborn/family photo shoot when I was ready. This is gonna be a long one, but totally worth the read if you're trying to decide whether or not to book with her. Only reason she even gets one star is because unfortunately I cannot give zero stars. In early August I decided to book my maternity pictures with her because I went through her Instagram and really liked her work. I was a little annoyed that I had to pay the full amount up front, but still decided to do it because getting these pictures done was really important to me. I booked my session TWO MONTHS in advance (October 14th) so that I could avoid any last minute changes and secure my spot since she is so "busy." Fast forward to October 7th, I get a message from her asking if we could do my session earlier that day because she was going to leave on vacation at 1pm, my session was scheduled at 3pm. I didn't mind so I responded and said yes what time works for you? FIVE days go by and I still did not hear back from her. Finally on October 12th (2 days before my session) she sends me a text saying she's actually leaving on vacation on the 13th and wanted to reschedule for Sunday the 19th. At first I said yes that's fine but then after talking to my boyfriend he told me to ask to do Wednesday 10/20 or Thursday 10/21 instead so within an hour after sending the text about Sunday I asked for Wednesday or Thursday instead. Another SIX days go by and I still didn't hear back from her. If you give her the benefit of the doubt and not include when she was "on vacation" that is still THREE days that she failed to respond to me. Mind you, the whole time while waiting for her to respond she was constantly posting on her Instagram about stupid shit. Anyways, finally I got upset and ended up asking for a refund. Still didn't hear back from her about that until almost a day later. The next morning I go on Instagram and the first I see is a post from her bitching about clients asking for refunds. I figured there's no way this could be about me if my refund request is coming from a scheduling error on HER end, but it still pissed me off so I sent her another text regarding the refund and explaining the situation to her. I wasn't rude to her I was straight up and to be honest pretty annoyed. FINALLY she decided to respond (completely rude and unprofessionally, I'll attach screenshots) and then finally ended up processing the refund. My review isn't about the fact that she constantly complains about customers or that she didn't give me my money back. It's about the fact that I had to go through so much shit to get it. Also the fact that now I'm gonna lose out on taking maternity pictures for my first born. AND the stress she caused me to feel when I'm almost 33 weeks pregnant and have enough going on as is. JUST TO ADD, I was not going to write a review if she refunded me but her rude attitude and remark she made to me is not okay so I changed my mind. I'm not the one to get into drama or even write reviews at all but this girl needs to be exposed and even if I can stop one person from choosing to go to her, I'll be happy. To start off, not only is she a horrible communicator, she blames the clients for everything, even if she's the one who's 100% at fault. ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY!!!! Back In May I booked a session for august 27th at 10-10:40am at a mountain side location and paid in FULL. Anyways, I confirmed I was going to make it and then she comes up with this bull shit excuse that I booked the wrong date for her mountain side sessions YET MY EMAIL CONFIRMATION WAS FOR 8/27! Like I'm suppose to telepathically know I was booked for another date I didn't get a confirmation on?!?! So she suggested a different time on the 27th (2pm) and I confirmed that time. So basically leaves me on read and doesn't get back to me despite me agreeing to the time SHE SUGGESTED THAT DAY. So she left me and my family on standby for Sunday and a few days later she tells me via text that that time was "regardless not going to happen" YET SHE SUGGESTED IT!!!!! Long story short, she takes ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY FOR HER WRONG DOING AND BLAMES CLIENTS EVEN AFTER SHES RECEIVED FULL PAYMENT. SHES A TOTAL SCAMMER!!! After requesting a refund she blocks me! One star is too much for this girl, I had booked her back in September of 2020 for family session in November 2020 and at time of booking we had to pay FULL deposit which was one of her requirements, November got here and she never messaged me to tell me time and place until the night before my session telling me someone double book my time sloth same day of my session my son got burnt with the iron while getting ready I texted her and explaining my reason why I had to cancel and reschedule. She had to me she had two spots one for Black Friday and the second for the second week of December 2020 and I told her I would take the back Friday, both dates got here and never got a response back! In Jan of 2021 she posted on IG she would response back to all inquiries so I told her what about my session she said I was on her rescheduling list to hopefully get me in my February, feb for here and not a response back until March came and I texted her multiple times telling her if she can't do it because she's busy I will fully understand but I'm also asking a full refund and again never got a response back so I decided to expose her on Instagram and she replied within seconds with "what was my point ?" And because the only reason she is replying back is because she would give me my refund and up to this date she still hasn't she was very rude and unprofessional I don't recommend her with anyone. She's a scammer to my community and I hope this post helps someone if your trying to book with her I waited 6 months for a simply response. I booked with Mari when looking to have maternity photos done for my first pregnancy. First bad sign was when after booking I never heard from her despite several emails sent and leading up to the day of booking never discussed when and where we would meet, ect. Mari was unresponsive until the day before the shoot, even though I had booked it months ago. She tried to reschedule twice. Once by saying she had a fully booked day (umm you make your own schedule, girl) and once due to weather. I was tired of her unprofessionalism and didn't want to work with her because it was turning out to be a bad experience. Mari is very unprofessional , she was hired on to take photos at a December 2021 wedding. We have yet to receive a large portion of our photos we were promised in our contract. When she sent the gallery a large portion of our photos were not included. We have made several attempts to reach out to her via Instagram messages, text messages as well as emails. I didn't blow out her DMs because I figured she could be busy, but once I saw that she kept posting having a good time with friends, I decided to ask for her opinion for my outfits and no response, days later I asked her for help in regards ideas on what to buy to help a deformation on my finger and again no response. Hours before our photoshoot that was of town, she finally reaches back and says she's sick and she will be late to our sunset photoshoot due to traffic and also because because she lives 2 hours away from the location and it wouldn't give her enough time after she's done with her appointment, but the first time we discussed pricing she claimed that it wouldn't be a traveling fee because she will be in town. We had everything ready make up appointment, hair appointments, days off from work etc, we asked her for a refund and thankfully she sent it. Moreover she sends me a text telling me how her other clients are so understanding of her health issues to make me feel bad. There's more to the story but I don't want to waste more time and energy on such a crappy person. To think there's many people saving money, stressing over outfits and doing the most to have their pictures taken of their special moments and she treat us like we are little kids playing games ? I don't think it's fair, I seriously think she's a scammer, so don't waste your time and energy on such a careless and rude person seriously there's many and more professional photographers out there. read more

We were pregnant during the second wave of the pandemic and booking a photoshoot was hard. While searching, Mary's work stood out the most and with no hesitation we booked her. One of the pros was: the dress rentals. Mary has a wide selection of dresses from Maternity clothing to elegant but classic engagement dresses. She offers outdoor and studio sessions. Our favorite part was her experience and knowledge of hidden locations, but most of all what we liked about her is her energy and passio. She is passionate about her work and goes above and beyond to ensure the customer is satisfied with the results... She was willing to try out several times to shoot my "vision" photos. We are excited to go back for our next photos with our daughter with Mary. She knows the perfect angles to capture the best memories. Let me start out saying if you haven't booked with Mari what are you even doing with your life. Mari is amazing, she will make your photography session so easy. I was scared when I first scheduled my first session. Didn't know what I was doing didn't know what I should wear, what colors outfits to choose, how to pose, insecure of how I would look but let me tell you!! Mari made me feel so comfortable she's very patient with me and my family. I have a two year old that doesn't like to take pictures and she made it happen ! I fell in love with my first session that I've been going back to Mari for all different kinds of sessions from mommy's and me, family sessions and shes also done our holiday pictures for me and my family.
