Mine arrived with a substantial char. Their menu is eclectic, and I took it upon myself to try a kale-based pizza. I'm not entirely sure what type of pre-cooking they did on that kale, but it totally worked. Kale on pizza and you wouldn't question it. I was a tad disappointed that it was a white pizza without sauce (hard to tell from the menu since sauce wasn't listed on any of them), and I could have gone for more choices. That being said, it was one of the better pizzas I've had in Australia, and if you are looking for somewhere to eat post-MONA, this is close. That being said, it seemed to be thriving instead on a vigorous takeout business from the surrounding community rather than tourists like myself. Local indeed.

Ask anyone with their finger on the pizza pulse this year and Local is where it's at. Amazing pizzas with loltastic names are yours for the picking. No half-halfs, no mess no fuss. Not overloaded with toppings but just the perfect amount. Bases still floppy when freshly served. Rock salt and olive oil on every table. An exception beer and wine selection you can have with your dine in OR take away. Yes, you can reserve a table, or call ahead with your takeaway order. Berriedale, you demon! You've done it! Thankfully I work out this way at least a couple of days a week and it's a very easy excuse to grab some Local before heading home. Bless. I'm working my way through the menu and so far the Cheesus Christ and the White Guy are at the top of my list, but I'm only seven pizzas down so who knows what I'm missing so far? Time will tell. I'm only sad the Mac & Cheese was a special and not a regular. If you're a local, GET TO LOCAL. If you're visiting and you happen to drive to MONA instead of catching the ferry, reward yourself with some post-MONA Local Pizza. You're the best. You did it.

Okay, that's not true, you can know some more stuff. Like the fact that once I discovered the Gallina pizza, I realised all my pizza dreams had come true and I would never want for another pizza topping combo again in my life. (I know you're curious: the Gallina's chicken, BBQ sauce, onion, mushrooms, pineapple and cheese aka all my favourite things). The Gallina makes for some crazy good morning-after pizza as well (because every true pizza connoisseur knows that the true height of a pizza's glory is in its cold next-day form, unless it's primarily a cheese pizza). The pizzas come in a range of different sizes, small to medium to large to family. The family pizza is daunting. Small is perfect for one person. I normally get a medium so I can have breakfast pizza the next day (for reasons stated above). I've never eaten in at Paesano, because (as other reviews have mentioned) it's a bit cramped for dining in. Also, I don't live too far away so it serves me well to call up to order my takeaway, then take a meander up the hill (checking out the awesome Hobart views en route) to collect my pizza. The only problem is then not eating (all of) the pizza before arriving home again. If only Paesano's delivered...
