Big Mike's was recommended by some visiting friends a few weeks ago, so we stopped by today for…read morebreakfast. There is plenty of parking on-site, a few tables outside, and a clean and spacious dining room. We were greeted by both Big Mike himself and a very friendly and personable server (sorry, I don't recall their name). Big Mike's Healthy Choices is a completely gluten-free restaurant with plenty of vegan options. Mike really sold me on the Vegan Western Omelette while my husband went with the Vegan Americana Breakfast. Made with a mung bean base and eggs, my omelet was filled with "bacon", bell pepper and onion, "cheese", and topped with fresh sliced avocado. I decided to swap out the sliced apple for griddled potatoes and was glad I did - they were gooood! The dish was also served with a waffle, which was crisp and delicious. Our server recommended their house-made hot sauce, which was delicious. Not too spicy, but very flavorful. This was the best omelette I've had since switching to a mostly vegan/plant-based diet. 10/10. My hubby's Americana breakfast came with two scrambled "eggs", crispy "bacon", a waffle, and he also went with the griddled potatoes. Also, a very good choice. 10/10. They also sell a variety of sweet treats: muffins, donuts, and cupcakes. We were too full to try them this time, but we'll be back!

Been coming to this place for years, even before, when it was under a different name. I appreciate…read morethe gluten-free menu and the quality of ingredients. Unfortunately, today's visit was disappointing. We chose to sit inside for the AC, but the restaurant was filled with smoke. The meal was probably good, but I could not enjoy it because my eyes were burning and watering. I had to leave and go outside early while my husband paid. After this I had watering eyes, headache and slight nausea for the next hour, and my hair and all my clothes smelled like a dirty grill and everything has to go in the wash. My husband's eyes were burning as well and he was coughing while in the restaurant. This is obviously not right, and they need to seriously address the ventilation in the kitchen. This has never happened before in our years visiting the place. If this was my first experience at this place, it would surely get one star, but I'm keeping it at four stars because of all the previous positive experiences.

I picked up two small size cakes today. I emailed an inquiry and they got back to my almost right…read moreaway. They asked for my number to make payment and contact me with the details. I wanted a chocolate ganache cake and a coconut cake. When I spoke to a lady to place the order, I was told that the coconut cake is not a standard cake on their menu so this would be a customized cake and would cost more - not an issue, I understand. They were reasonably priced for the detail that they put into the cakes. I paid $25 for the chocolate ganache cake and $50 for the coconut cake. The location for pick up was a bit strange. It is in an industrial business strip mall, which had a tight parking lot and the location is all the way at the end of the lot. There was construction on half of the side of the parking lot so it was very congested with limited space to park. Nevertheless, I was able to pop in to a parking spot to run in and pick up my cakes. When you walk in, there is no typical business store front, just an office space. The lady inside greeted me and quickly went to the back to grab my order and that was that. The cakes were indeed beautiful for my last minute order/request (I ordered about 2 days prior). The chocolate ganache was extremely rich, but yummy. Still pending tasting the coconut one, review will be updated once I taste it.

She was so sweet and patient while I decided on a cake. We went with the Dulce de Leche cake. The cake itself was delicious! It was fresh, not overly sweet and really soft. Plus it was obvious to all that this was a quality cake (Not the supermarket kind of cake). Thank you for making the sweet birthday that much sweeter.

We have finally made it to sweet love pastry after having it bookmarked for years. My daughter was…read moreoff early today and we were all able to manage to stop by before they closed for the day. The shop is small, with the daily selections in a glass case, but you can see some of the kitchen in the back where the bakes come from. A lot of cupcakes were left, but my daughter hasn't had much luck with vegan cupcakes; mainly because most are too sweet for her. Other options were muffins, donuts, two black and white cookies, and some other flavors of mini loaves. We were assured that everything was vegan, with the exception of the banana bread mini loaf. However, my daughter had been concerned because the board to the side had claimed that the cookies weren't vegan, but asking the girl who was checking us out again, she said that it was indeed vegan. My wife got a blueberry muffin and a red velvet cupcake, which isn't pictured. She said that they were both dry. But she understood that she wasn't part of the crowd that the bakery is intended for (vegans and those suffering from gluten allergies). I tried the muffin and thought it had a nice flavor, but the texture is a little different from what I'm used to since I'm also not gluten free. When my daughter tries her desserts, I will come back to update my review. Finally, while checking out, the cashier gave us a 10% off coupon which was very kind of her to do. Also don't forget, when you check in you get a 10% your first order! I may not come back myself, but if your someone who is vegan, gluten free, or likes trying new bakeries, I say give them a try! They're surely worth the price and kind faces!

Came in at about 1 PM and got the breakfast special with scrambled eggs, french fries, Cuban toast,…read morebacon, and coffee. The coffee was perfect, and the fries were delicious. The eggs were good, the toast was perfectly buttered, the only complaint was my bacon is not really the style that I like and it's a little bit on the undercooked side and soft side but other than that, everything was delicious. I also got the rice pudding that was delicious but very, very sweet. There is a bit of a language barrier when ordering!

The prices have gone up what feels like an astronomical amount. I completely understand that costs have increased across the board, but I was genuinely shocked by how much I spent on a dozen pastelitos. The bigger issue for me was the bathroom. I had to use it while waiting, and it was honestly pretty disgusting. It looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned in a very long time. I've seen cleaner rest-stop bathrooms, and that's saying something.Maybe it's just me, but when a customer-facing area is that dirty, it makes me wonder about the overall cleanliness behind the scenes. I really hope management gives the place a deep clean because this used to be one of my favorite stops for a taste of home.
