    Christmas Tree lighting

This is a great spot to come on the weekends for some fresh air. Maybe during the week, although, I haven't been here during the week, so I can't say. You can always take a walk around the park, walk around downtown, hit up Dauphin Street for the peanut shop or picnic in the park. Even with Covid-19 still lurking, the park is big enough to enjoy and social distance. There's not much to do here but several people come here to take pictures. It's very popular for tourist and locals for pretty much any occasion because the backdrop is the RSA tower and the Riverview Renaissance. Oh and this year, there's a Christmas tree. So get out there, in the park, and maybe I'll see you around the square.

This is a very nice green area in Mobile where you can hang out and learn something about Mobile and the home of the first Mardi Gras. It is a good place to experience Mardi Gras. The new Mardi Gras tree was a nice addition to the park. If they add a pavilion that will just add to the park.

Something about large statues that just makes me happy. A bonus that they also had a huge Christmas tree still up. Great Photo Opportunities. It was also conveniently located near a couple museums we also checked out.

I don't understand why this tree has no historical marker, this tree was a between 300-500 years old. Great for kids, great for dogs, there are also various trails throughout the park. There is also an older cemetery in this park, a short walk away.

The area itself has seen better days with old picnic tables, over-growth and the boardwalk around the tree in need of cleanup and some attention. I am hoping the city and mayor will invest in a little TLC for this walking path and area and spruce it up. It has so much potential to be a great outdoor resource for locals and tourists alike.

There are walking trails that go through the woods, an off-leash dog area, and multiple mixed-use sportsball/athletic fields. On hot days, the splash pad area is the place to be, making for a safe space for kids and families to cool off and enjoy the sun. The frisbee disc golf course is one of the real hooks to the park, nicely laid out and maintained, and providing differing levels of challenge. Public restrooms are all around, the playground and splash pad area have soft landing spots, and it is generally well lit and safe all through the park. There are even several canopy areas with tables, allowing for picnics or other gathering use and mostly just to get out of the Alabama sun. Park is open from dawn to dusk like all other parks in Mobile. The playground is the best of all the parks in my opinion. It is fairly busy, but not so much that would make you visit elsewhere.

It turned out to be one of the best birthday surprises I've ever planned. We visited on a Wednesday, and it was the perfect day to go. The crowds were light, which gave us plenty of time to explore at our own pace. One piece of advice: grab a map and actually use it! My husband was in charge of navigation, and somehow we almost missed a huge section of the ship. The USS Alabama is fascinating from top to bottom. Walking through the sleeping quarters, mess halls, engine rooms, and gun turrets really gives you an appreciation for the people who served aboard her. The grounds also include historic aircraft and military exhibits, so plan to spend more time than you think you'll need. Parking is an additional $5, so keep that in mind when budgeting your visit. If you're eligible for military, senior, or group discounts, be sure to ask about available savings before purchasing tickets. Fun fact: The USS Alabama earned nine battle stars during World War II and is often referred to as "The Lucky A" because she returned from combat without losing a crew member to enemy action. Learning little pieces of history like that made the experience even more meaningful. If you enjoy history, military museums, or simply exploring unique places, this is absolutely worth the trip. Just don't let your spouse be in charge of the map.

The battleship itself is massive and well-preserved, giving you a real sense of what life was like for sailors during World War II. Walking through the ship, you can explore different areas like the deck, engine room, and living quarters, which was a really cool experience. The park also includes other military aircraft and exhibits too! Mom and I went on a tour here back in 2018 during a road trip to New Orleans. This is a history buffs paradise!

There was a group of black men and a woman harassing me to speak to them and kept beckoning me to go up to them. I ignored them but they kept yelling the whole time that I made the round of the park until I go in my car. And when my family stepped out of the church, then they started yelling and harassing them too. They were yelling things like that I shouldn't be going to church if I don't want to speak to them. It was very unsettling. There should be more police presence in these tourist areas to make sure that people are not being harassed. If it was that unsettling in the middle of the day, I could only imagine at night.

Cathedral Square is a municipal park - It is bordered by the streets of North Claiborne, Dauphin, North Jackson, and Conti. A little history, This space, at one time, was Campo Santo - which was Mobile's Catholic cemetery (18th Century). The area that is now Cathedral Square quickly became a commercial block filled with buildings after the relocation of the cemetery. The buildings were then demolished in 1979 to create a public park facing the Cathedral. The current park and layout have been here for some time now. There were a few people here, as it was starting to warm up quite a bit and it didn't take too long to get pretty hot (really humid). But if you are going to check out the Cathedral - then this is a nice little green space to see it from and get some pretty cool pictures of the Cathedral.
