Wow! All I can say is $5 Movie Tuesdays PLUS FREE POPCORN. I mean if that can't get you into the door, I don't know what will. Honestly, Yelpers, I am super cheap. I avoid the movie theaters because $10.50 for a ticket (ahem, AMC) is too much drama in my life. Why pay when I can just wait for it to come on putlocker? That being said, some movies are worth the big screen, so I was so excited when I found out about this fab deal! My bff and I arrived at 6.20p for a 6.30 showing. The girl at the register seemed like she hated her life which I guess was understandable considering she was young and the theater was PACKED! We chose our seats and I was really bummed that the top half was already booked so we settled with the bottom. We got our free popcorn (pretty decent size) and got our seats. They are sooo comfortable! They are red leather and can electronically recline! They were also pretty clean. At that point, I did not mind as much that we were in front considering I could recline back and would not have to awkwardly crane my neck. Also, there was a great amount of leg room, so I did not get any butt or crotch action when people were getting up for the bathroom! So exciting! Anyways, great theater with a great deal. Bathrooms were okay, could be a little cleaner but Tuesdays are busy, and I understand that it can be hard to keep up. I did see an employee cleaning when I was using the bathroom, though. Had the day off with my wife and we purchased tickets to watch the Mechanic for our day date (9:50am show). We had our baby with us since we did not have a sitter. We get there and they tell us we cannot watch the show with our son. They tell us there policy is no one under the age of 6 can watch a rated R show. Our son is 6 months old so this makes no sense. Tried to enjoy a day off with my wife only to have it ruined by the staff and theater. If you are looking for a family friendly theater do not go here!! I'd recommend AMC!!! The lady that takes your tickets is so sweet. She's been part of this theater for as long as I can remember and she is just so pleasant. I love seeing her there! That being said, most of the other personnel seem to be high school or college students but that's OK too, everyone is polite without any attitude. This theater isn't super sleek or high tech. It's pretty basic when it comes to the movie-going experience. There are special days for discounts and a frequent moviegoers club. The seats are pretty comfy to me. They don't recline but this isn't supposed to be a luxury theater. The theater is well-maintained, like I said earlier, it's not sleek or fancy, but clean is important to me. Basic movie snacks like popcorn, nachos, pretzel bites, candy and pop. I've been here for midnight openings, afternoon breaks, date nights, etc. Always been a good experience. Absolutely LOVE the new dream lounger seats! They are only in select screens (for now?) but they are super comfy. All are plush and at the push of a button, you can recline. It is so much nicer watching a movie with your legs up...my knees always hurt from sitting so long otherwise. Also, all of the seats are now spaced out more which is a lot nicer. Honestly, I don't see any reason to go to an ipic or Muvico. Marcus has more comfortable seats (ones at ipic stink in my opinion) and cheaper tickets. I live right in between Muvico and Melrose Park Cinemark. But I will always try to make the drive out to this theater.. Okay lets just toss out Melrose Park because.. well, do I need to list the obvious: its dirty! No matter when you go. The reason I would prefer this theature over Muvico is because of price and the seats are WAY BETTER! This theater now has the reclining seats in each theater! Now, if that's not something you really care about.. well then I guess your a better person than me. But, I really enjoy them. I also enjoy Tuesday is $5 movie day all day and Thursday $5 movie day for all students. How can you beat that!? The theaters, the parking lot, and the concession stand are CLEAN. I really feel like its worth the extra 25 minute drive to go here over other places. Helpful Tips: -You can buy in advance to select your seats: VERY IMPORTANT.. Be careful when selecting your seats. The recliners are in sets of two. Yes they all tough but the sets of two can life the middle part up if the two people would like to cuddle or whatever. So when buying your seats, if there is just two of you, make sure your sitting in on set. -Get the loyalty card. Tuesday is free popcorn with it, earn points, and covers the convince fee of buying tickets online. Don't worry its FREE. read more

My son and I came to your theatre for the first time yesterday and WE WILL NEVER RETURN! The prices for popcorn and soda are inflated. When I went to the counter to order there was only one young lady helping customers. I waited and had to ask are you open because they were chit chatting. The theater #20 was a ice box. This theater has great prices but with modern technology and Dream Lounger chairs at no additional cost. They have premium sound and state-of-the-art digital screens. They also have an Ultrascreen DLX which is 3 stories tall, with Dream Loungers and premium sound. This place is never crowed, always clean and the staff are friendly. They have good county fair donuts, White Castle burgers!!! and free refills on all drinks. This place rocks!!! I'm reluctant to mention this but every Tuesday movies are only $5! I visited this theatre for a 10:05 showing on 2/13. This is a very nice and modern theatre. Seats are extremely comfy and is a good theatre for couples, as the arm rest in between the seats lifts up. The Ultrascreen DLX is an amazing theatre, with a huge screen! The only reason for 4 stars was because the soda area and restrooms could have been cleaned more often. read more

I've been coming here for a while and I rarely have problems other than the universally rising cost of going to see a movie. But what can I say? The self serve drinks is a plus. It cuts a few minutes off of the time it takes to get food. The food selection is good. Other than the usual popcorn, you can get nachos or pretzel bites or even White Castle burgers, which I noticed last time I was there. Pretty impressed, but I don't know if I would get them for a movie. You never know how quickly it will move through your system. They also have ICEES. Remember getting those at KMart? Giant bags of candy. Ice cream. Dippin dots. Never thought you'd gain fifty pounds just sitting down for two hours to watch a movie, did you? Whenever I come here, though, there's always something broken about the seats. Last time I came here to see GI Joe, and the arm rest was broken. Nothing like resting your arm on slimy cold metal. But the seats are relatively comfy so it's almost nice enough to forget about that little kid behind you kicking your seat. read more

Went to see Draft Day today, what a horrific experience! They were very understaffed, lines of people everywhere, I think they were giving out free popcorn and it showed, popcorn was all over the floor, the concession area was gross and grimy (that's why I didn't get anything). The bathrooms were dirty, I had to go to 3 different stalls to find TP, yuck. The speaker or speakers in the theater were broken and sounded really bad throughout the movie. The price was $5.00, so I guess you get what you pay for...will not not be coming back for sure. read more

I had been here in the past but only came back recently as friends wanted to get together. I figured it was no different than any other location. Things have changed, for the better. The dream lounger chairs are a great upgrade. It is a much better experience to see a movie rather than creaky chairs, sticky floors, or tight seating arrangements, especially for 1st run movies. They automatically recline based on a push of a button and can go pretty much parallel to the floor. Although the temperature was decent, I think it would be even more relaxing to bring a mini throw blanket. Since the seats recline so far, the aisles are considerably wide and there is still room to get around when people lie completely out. The carpets are clean and the cup holders are wells within the arm of the seat. They're quite well cushioned. The prices are basically the same as any other first run theater. Right now, they're running a promotion for $5 movies on Tuesday, which is definitely worth it. Even shorter term is free popcorn on Tuesdays. Definitely the place for me for 1st run movies. read more

The bathrooms were gross. It appears no one cleans them that often. The trash was over flowing and they were out of soap. The staff at the entrance did not help better my experience since they had me waiting to buy a ticket I couldn't on the computer because they were chatting about something on another register. I came here with my girlfriend to see "Whip It" since it was the only theater within 20 miles still showing it. I was treated to an off-center projector lens for the entire movie, and a generally dirty cinema. You'd think they'd at least have someone come through each one between showings and pick up the garbage people left behind. At $9.75 for a weeknight show, it'd be nice if the place were clean. Thoroughly unimpressive, even for a suburban megaplex. I'll keep going to AMC or Classic Cinemas. read more

Even though the Marcus Cinema is an extra 10 minutes from us, as opposed to AMC, we would much rather make the drive to be able to sit in those amazing seats. Prices are just about the same. Our matinee was $9. Tickets for regular shows are around $10-$11. Seating is reserved, however, you do not have to do it online. If you do, each ticket is $1 extra as a convenience fee. We gambled and figured our 12:15 Matinee on a Sunday would not be sold out. We got there and were able to pick seats at the kiosk no problem. Now would I do that for a Friday or Saturday night show? Probably not. At one point I had to refill the pop and the place was super busy, so I can only assume what its like on an opening night. Popcorn was great, as always, but the hubby was not a fan of the Cheeseburgers. Next time we will be getting the pretzel bites. read more

I won't come here and pay full price, but sometimes they run pretty decent deals (I just attended an evening showing of Lincoln for $5). Back in my high school days, Marcus was the theater of choice for myself and my friends, but now I prefer York in Elmhurst. Bought tickets on line for Star Wars, and was able to pick our seats. We were meeting friends, that is how we choose this theater which was half way mark for driving. This was not the opening but a week later. I was able to pick 2 seats in the middle row. After I showed my receipt for the tickets and the tickets were printed, my seats were now in the second row. I would not go to see this movie in the seats so close you can count the pixels. It appears that as a movie sells more tickets they move you to pack the theater. I asked the employee at the ticket sales counter way my seats were changed. They told me I must be mistaken, those had to be what I originally picked. I've been going to this place for years but not any longer. I do the standard popcorn and soda but Macus is not the place for that. The popcorn tastes bad and the butter is the worst! It's a nice theater with big screens and pleasant employees. I don't live in the area but was visiting in town so I decided to stop by. One of my favorite features of this theater is that they do little shows of older movies and classics like Ben-Hur and Breakfast at Tiffany's, which are interesting to see on the big screen with modern speakers. Prices are what you would expect at a movie theater, except the Picture Show nearby but this theater is obviously more upscale. read more

When we first started going there it was your average Movie Theater. There really wasn't all that much around it, as a matter of fact the building used to stick out like a sore thumb, not that- that was a bad thing mind you. The admission prices and concession prices were comparable to any other theater. The only reason we liked going there was that it had the old fashioned stadium seating, which made me very happy. However, slowly over time the area changed and so did the theater and not always in a good direction. Slowly, they seemed to be experiencing an identity crisis, which has become very apparent with this last round of "improvements". The seats are now what they call Dream Lounge seating - think - overstuffed Lazy-boy Recliner, which may not sound like a bad thing, until you experience the new problem they add to an already basically annoying set of problems... you know... people taking, kids crying, retards with cell phones, fools constantly squeezing past you during the movie... fun... now with these new seats you can add... snoring... yip, the last movie we went to go see, several people around us were sawing wood, even before the bloody movie started... not cool. Another "improvement" they added was reserved seating. Now this makes sense in a real theater, stadium or concert event, where prices vary on where you sit... but in a flat rate movie house? Can you say pretentious? If they were going for an in your living room style experience... epic fail... I can sit at home, rent a movie, play it on my plasma, sit in my Lazy-boy with a bag of popcorn, favorite 2 liter of pop in my pajamas for less than $6.00... and better yet, I can invite a bunch of friends over and still keep it under $15.00... who needs them? This used to be my number 1go to movie theater and now it's at the top of my - oh hell no list. read more

This place is a disaster. The seats were broken and/or torn. The floor was covered in stick wet liquid and popcorn, even after they apparently cleaned the theatre. This is quickly becoming my favorite theatre. Their ticket prices and food prices are about as high as every other theatre, but they have a nicer facility, and more options. They updated this place with nice reclining roomy seats, and you can buy drinks at the bar and bring those in with you. They also have a big deal on Tuesdays, but beware it's CROWDED on that day. You do pick your seats in advance, and because the seats are roomier, there are less seats per theatre. So if there's a hot new movie you need to see at a certain time on opening weekend, buy your tickets and reserve your seats online. read more

Step right up and let the show begin! Nice staff, but this place should be quarantined! Pop spilled on the floor directly in front of the restrooms and It appreared to me that the cleaning crew were just waiting for the bugs to slurp it up. The woman's lavatory made me dry heave twice! Gnats feasting on feminine napkins, tampons and Urine soaked toilet paper. The best part is that the concession stand is a hop, skip and a jump from the restrooms. Our seats numbers were faded off and when I figured out which one was mine... I was surprised to find a big split down the middle. Seats and floors in the theater were filthy. If you want to watch a movie like a queen/king, then definitely come here! Yes tickets are pricier than normal theaters but that's to be expected. When you purchase tickets, you get to select your seats which is pretty neat. The theater itself is pretty cool, the seats are spacious and so comfy since they recline and have leg rests! I felt like the people from Wall-E since the seats were so plush and you could practically lay down and watch the movie. This theater also has a bar on the left when you first enter if you feel the need to get a drink (although that's a recipe for disaster since booze+comfy reclining seats=ktfo). They have deals on weekdays which I may check out sometime. I believe Tuesdays, all movies are $5 and they have student discounts on Thursdays as wel! read more

A year ago I complained about the poor condition, and the fact that they are the ONLY theater in the area that doesn't take electronic tickets. (You can book online. But then they make you stand in line to print your ticket, and stand in line again to have it torn in half.) I was told they were upgrading to a new system. Blatant lie. You still have to arrive early to print and have it torn in half as though it's 1990. What's more, when I asked again, I was told, "No, we're not changing." I came because I had Rewards that were about to expire. I won't bother coming back. read more

If I could leave no stars whatsoever in this review, I would. First of all I am a local and I've gone to this movie theater since I was a kid. That being said, I was appalled by my experience today. The bathroom was a mess- granted we went to see a movie at 10:20pm, but still. There were tissue rolls on the floor, on the sink, and the trash bin was piled up. The carpets were dirty and the employees seemed to not give a rat's ass about anything going on. So much so that they don't even check at all who actually paid and who didn't. When we got to the movie room, two guys were on our seats, who moved to the next ones (later on people who bought those seats came and they had to move again). The seats were super dirty, popcorn everywhere both seats and on the floor. The odor wasn't pleasant either. So I'm seated right.. first thing I notice is the screen is super tiny. "Okay," I thought. "It'll just have to do." But me trying to justify that shortly went down the drain when the movie started and the lights were still on. Of all the movie theaters I've gone to, this is the only place that keeps the lights on while the movie is going. So not only did I have to go watch in a small screen, the lights were on too. Did I mention that the sounds went super loud either? Want to know the cherry on top to my night at Marcus? The people in the movie room were loud, rude, and obnoxious. There was a crowd of four to our left who kept laughing and talking loudly in spanish all through out the movie and another to our right who kept laughing and texting, while their mom try to comfort their seven year old kid. It was a rated R movie.. Never will I ever come back here again, specially after learning that there's rats infesting the place. Even on a Tuesday special you're much better going elsewhere trust me there are a lot of movie theaters around the area with better service. read more

I went to see About Time with the bf and as a result of poor planning and unfortunate movie times at our usual theaters, we ended up at Marcus. Eight dolla tickets, no lines (granted it was like 4 pm)... but the best part was when we walked into our theater to find reclining love seats?! Coziest movie of my life! Update: This theater continues to remain one of my go to theaters. They are doing their best to keep on the seat maintenance (I haven't had any issues in awhile). The food is still spot on. The Movie Reward Discount Tuesday's are great. __________________________________________________ This has been my favorite/go to theater for quite some time. Popcorn is always spot on and the theaters have been reasonably clean and comfortable. Over the last couple years they have made some changes though that one would think are improvements. They added Dreamlounger seats to all their theaters instead of the older fashioned fold down cushioned theater seats and have also added a bar off to the side of the original concession stand. The seats are great but after a couple years you can definitely see the wear on the seats. It appears that their maintenance of the theaters along with the seats has fallen off. I feel they used to better at maintaining and cleaning their theaters. I don't really need the at my favorite theater but I thought it was a nice idea (you can even bring drinks in the theater like other theater concepts). I tried one of their cocktails for the first time, a Fantastic Mojito, and it was heavy on the mint and club soda and lacking berry puree and rum. The bartender was nice enough but she didn't seem happy to be there. I'm not expecting the best drinks from my theater but if you're going to have a bar the drinks should at least match what they are on the menu and at least be average. Definitely disappointed in my favorite theater. I even use their Marcus Rewards program. I'll think twice about coming back next time considering that their prices are high for the area. read more
