This is a great theater. It has that old school feel. They DO NOT take Apple Pay. It is card or cash only you can redeem and earn rewards through the Marcus movie club program. The seats are way more comfortable than expected, a nice pop or red and they also have screen X and IMAX. Full service bar, real restaurant style food, I'll be back. Having to go back for my actual wallet to use my physical card was kind of a bummer. read more

Felt compelled to leave a review since I noticed so many recent reviews about the state of the place. I had never been to a Marcus Theatre until last night, though I had already signed up for the free Rewards via their app, and had been waiting to find a matinee I'd be interested in. So, it's November; not a hot muggy summer. The bathrooms were clean (and smelled clean). I did not smell mold; I did not smell anything out of the ordinary. The seats were in great condition (at least in theater #18; Ultrawide) They reclined fine; very comfortable; I didn't want to get up at the end of the flick. Got a free popcorn beforehand because of the rewards (it wasn't a tiny cup, either! A nice Small?) The screen was fine and the audio was excellent. So I didn't find any reason not to come back. read more

Who doesn't enjoy going to the movies. Especially movies on Tuesdays where they are six dollars you can't beat that. This particular theater has everything you need and more. They have a bar area where you can be served alcoholic beverages. There's also a seating area if you want to hang out for a bit before your movie starts. One thing I think that is very nice about this movie theater is that they have a kiddie corner. Something special for the kids. The concession stand is always very clean. They have fresh popcorn and plenty of snacks to choose from. Staff is always very, very nice very helpful and very friendly. If you go on a Tuesday and you are a rewards member, you can get a free tub of popcorn. That is the best deal ever. The theaters do have reclined seats however the ones I happen to go to do not have heated seats, which is a bit of a bummer. But that does not take away from me being able to enjoy the movie. The staff is terrible and customer service is horrible. Lady manager with the short hair is extremely rude and unprofessional. There was a child screaming the whole movie and they wouldn't refund . They refused !! As a business owner myself i would never want someone like her in my staff. It's sad because Greg Marcus deserves better. Not to mention the theater seats are worn and outdated and it smells VERY much like mildew the whole time. In combination of everything it's gone down hill. There is a reason movie theaters are dying .. when the facility AND staff are not great anymore, more people are just going to choose staying home. Went to this theater Sunday to see Rumulus in their ultrascreen DLX . I was disgusted by how terrible the theater smelled. It was malodorous and smelled like a zoo and urine. It's still okay tho they no longer do student Thursdays as I was a student of the hard knocks for years until they stopped giving me $5 movies, and they used to give free popcorn on their slow days like Tuesdays or Thursdays, plus it's cheap day to today on Tuesday. My 11 year old autistic niece was kicked out of the theater at 10AM on a Tuesday for Stemming, With out any warning. She has come so far in life and loves the movies. How disappointing it is that 3 people that were in the theater complained without even asking what was going on. This was very embarrassing to her and left Bawling., Shame on you as a company and Management for not being nicer. I sure hope nothing like this happens to your family. Autism is out there now. Do not order tickets on line from Marcus cinema. They still your money I purchased 1 tickets for a show and was charged for 4 tickets. If you do not check your bank account, they will not say anything If they do this to everyone who goes online to buy tickets, they make millions of dollars They are con artists and scammers They then tell you they will refund your money but it will take 10 days. They took the money out immediately but I have to wait 10 days to get it. They didn't apologize one time. Years later I went back to see the Barbie movie and I have to say this theater had not been kept up. The theater felt humid and was kind of dirty. Some of the chair recliners did not work in my group. The popcorn also tasted stale and the candies were hard. Little disappointed this theater used to be so nice. read more

Family went to see a movie at 7pm last night. We frequent this location often and have always had a great experience. We went to our assigned seats and noticed they didn't recline. Movie had started so we didn't want to leave theater to get an employee to help rectify issue. After movie was over we spoke w supervisor (long hair, slender) and he was very rude and said with a condescending tone: "did you see if it was plugged in?" After a couple minutes of his unprofessional behavior we left. We weren't trying to get anything in return. Just wanted to make sure he knew about seats not working. I love this theater! Yes, there are things you need to be aware of to make this a pleasant experience. I always bring a blanket to cover my legs - not that it's too cold, but to be cosy & comfortable. NOTE Some people unplug the chair in order to charge their electronic devices during the movie. I don't get it either. But this frequent occurrence is often the reason the chairs don't recline. So, get to the show before the lights go out in case you need help with your chair. Both tickets and food may be pre-purchased on the App - cancellations, not so much. I absolutely love the pizza!! Its extremely thin cracker-like crust, sauce & toppings are my 2nd favorite thin pizza in the Chicagoland area. I don't need an abundance of cheese, but if you do, order extra cheese. I have only ever seen the bathrooms looking clean and presentable. read more

The indoors was warm in the summer heat and there was a faint smell of mildew in the theater. Popcorn and a large soda was $18. Good thing- the recliner seats were really comfortable. Been coming here for years and I have seen the positive transformation that it's gone through. I like that it's family owned. I have never seen anything majorly wrong nor have the employees ever been rude. Actually , the employees are majority very nice and funny sometimes. They're mostly teenagers, so everyone needs to give them a break, but I always see them working hard. It's great that they offer $5 Tuesdays for everyone to have the opportunity to go to the movies. It's always clean. I love the new matching T-shirts. We get the popcorn bucket at the beginning of the year and love that we can fill it all year long for just $4. What a terrible experience. Just came back from a Sunday matinee 8/21/2022. Our theater #21 had 8 ticketless teenagers in the last row laughing and talking throughout the whole movie. One patron was kind enough to ask the manager to intervene. The manager came in and told the teenagers to behave themselves and left. Then the noise resumed. Where to start? I've been coming here for years and loved this theater. It had nice recliners, a nice bar and an awesome meatball sub. Oh, you can even reserve your seats! That said, over time this place has started to decay and I have to look for a new place to enjoy movies. Firstly, the recliners are shredded. They're old and in very poor condition. Secondly, my movie was supposed to start at 8:00pm tonight, but it didn't. It's currently 8:30 and I'm still waiting for the movie to begin, or even trailers or anything. I'm sitting in a lit theater waiting. Just waiting. The bathrooms had rolls of paper towels laying around. I would have taken a picture but I thought it was weird for me to take pictures in a public bathroom. And the bar. The bartender made me a good drink, but it was hard to enjoy it with the flies buzzing around. I moved from the bar, to a table and finally just left the bar because the fruit flies kept attacking my drink. Maybe I should considered myself lucky because in this day and age you generally don't get something for nothing, but Marcus Theater gave me my drink and about 30 insects to take home with me. They are truly a generous theater. Anyway, save your dough. This place could be nice and once was, but nowadays this place is a pig show. By the way I wrote this review, in the lit theater, waiting for the movie to start... if they just started the movie I probably wouldn't have finished this review and forgot about it by the time I got home. Since the lights are on, I can see everyone leaving.. and they're talking pretty loudly. Since everyone is pretty loud, I can hear them all complaining about the movie not starting. If I could give no star I would. Marcus has a new policy of treating it customers like criminals. They denying access to people who are carrying bags bigger than 12 inches. This disproportionately affects women who are expected to leave their purses in the car or not enter the movie, which is unacceptable. They claim it's for our safety but it really an effort keep people from bringing in their own snacks and drink and forcing them to pay the absolutely ridiculous extortion level prices at the snack bar. There are other nicer theaters within a short drive who don't treat you like you are doing something wrong based on the size of your bag. I will never give another dime of my money to Marcus Theatre because why do I want to pay to be treated like a criminal!!!!! read more

Love the seats! Very comfortable theater setting. This theater does reserved seating so plan ahead since if you walk in, your options may be limited. We had no issues today, we watched Logan. The seats are automated recliners and the aisles are wide in case you need to get up, this way you aren't walking all over people. $9 matinee and $11 standard. I've had to look for an alternative theater since Muvico was recently bought out (very noticeable price hikes, issues with service etc) and this place is very nice. It's more affordable and competitively priced with other local theaters. They have the new comfy seats (electric too so you control the angle that's just right). The seating is very comfortable and theater doesn't seem to crowd up as much. From the parking lot I thought I was in for a battle with crowds but it's surprisingly big inside. Since the chairs recline there is ample leg room which I always have to worry about. I've read some reviews about their sound being poor but they seemed good, it wasn't state of the art surround sound but it was good. Their menu is a good size with good choices (pizza from UNOs too). They even have a little separate eating area which is nice. Now...knowing that this is a more affordable option there are a few things you've got to keep in mind. Service isn't so great (but I guess that's anywhere you can run into a bad apple or two). The floors are sticky around the concession stands, around the drinks and eating areas. And because it's a reasonably priced place you will tend to see a younger crowd which is always hit or miss. We saw a few people jump in their seats and take off their shoes! (So not cool with some people feeling too much at home). That was certainly a big downer but kind of think it's got something to do with the whole reclining chair thing and feeling "at home". And this place does have you select your seats when you purchase them which I love and is the future of theaters! read more
