Here's what a friend of mine and his Wife had to say about Marco Secchi, a professional photographer who also offers photo tours of Venice.
THE BEST TOUR!!! BLEW OUR MINDS!!! A somewhat pricey tour, but a private tour with a famous photographer. He took to the secret spot in Venice and helped us to navigate through the Venetian maze. He taught us history of Venice and took us to very picturesque locations and gave us pointers on how to capture pieces of Venice to enjoy for a lifetime.
Marco is an Italian, English speaking, professional photographer who specializes in editorial, features and portrait photography. He's based in London often in Venice and travels worldwide.
On the strength of all this high praise (TripAdvisor has many positive reviews too), I paid the $260 and signed Gayle and me up for the 3-hour photo tour on the day we arrived back from Venice after our Cruise. It was a splurge, but what better way to see Venice than through these eyes?
Marco is a great communicator and seems like a really swell guy. My sign-up (through his web site and Paypal) was effortless and he followed up personally and quickly via email. Unfortunately, the Paypal refund while we were on the Cruise was also made promptly. There was a death in the family and he had to leave Venice on the day of our appointment. He followed-up personally and apologized profusely. Of course I understood, yet this was easily was the biggest disappointment of our entire Italy trip.
As a consolation "prize", I bought Marco's book (The great guide of Venice: In the footsteps of Canaletto and the Venetian Masters) and he got me a good deal on his signature camera bag (crafted by Marina de Grandis). I also have to believe that someday Gayle and I will get another chance to engage the professional photographic skills of Marco Secchi. read more
