Just completed a one week visit with another family. This is a very poorly managed vacation rental company. My credit card hold (which was not in the lease) was almost equal to our entire stay. What a nice surprise! They also make you do all of the dishes and do all of the laundry as part of the checkout process. So the comforters are never cleaned and they aren't responsible for the dirty dishes in the cupboard? Lovely. We were continually cleaning dirty dishes from the previous guests and we wasted another day cleaning up and doing laundry at the end of our own visit. What, exactly, did we just pay for? Homeowners should question them as their management company and renters should stick with VRBO or AB&B. read more

Bella Alia in Marco Island. House: beautiful. Management/ownership: DISAPPOINTING. The washing machine was broken the day we got there (Sat). By Wednesday we had to insist our towels and dirty clothes (we packed lightly knowing we could do laundry) be done at the laundromat in town. I had to take it there myself, and ended up picking it up myself as well. They paid for it. I took another load on Friday, paid for it myself, thinking they would reimburse, they would not. They said "we had bills for over $500 for the laundry during the week...we hope you're okay paying the $37". (to be clear, 30+ towels were part of the laundry, so they paid to wash their own stuff) We paid over $5,000 for this "luxury stay" and basically lived like a cheap motel as it related to laundry. Very disappointing. Customer service is so easy. Customer disservice is even easier for Marco Escapes, it seems. Will not use them again...over a $37 bill that resulted from no washing machine. read more

More trust worthy than VRBO! Based on the bad reviews I felt it was worth mentioning that leaving the house clean and maintaining a decent sound level is normal in all marco houses we've rented. We've been renting houses on Marco for 15+years now and the only terrible experience we had was with VRBO where they charged us for damage that we even had photos to prove we didn't cause. It's definitely not fun to leave a house clean and wash the sheets before we leave but this is really standard in Marco Island rentals. Again not sure what others experienced but we have always had responsive communication with the staff, but this may be because we're repeat customers. We did have a hot tub glitch once but it was fixed. We jump between Marco Escapes and Island Escapes but do slightly prefer Marco Escapes when available/affordable just because you know you're getting a house that meets their standards. Marco Escapes definitely has less of a selection than other sites so keep that in mind. I wish they would update their website but that really doesn't matter! I'm not defending this company, I just don't think it's fair to rate a company badly based on something you didn't understand such as items in the contract. read more

"0" ZERO STARS!!!! And a huge caution to everyone! Not sure what happened to this company in recent years but.. .just rented a $7000.00 house with supposedly a heated pool and jacuzzi! NOT....cold pool. Cold tub, No jets! 707 PLANTATION COURT....POOL UNUSABLE! Called many times. Thier representative Alexander came out 4 times himself and could not get it working as well as they sent the pool company out twice and it was still not repaired. Coming from a cold winter in New Jersey with my 3 grandchildren it was very disappointing. When I tried to contact them to resolve this issue they refused to respond for almost 2 weeks. Finally got a response. Or attach, I should say. Telling me that my whole family is a bunch of drunk, rude, uneducated people and we were turning it off on purpose just to cause problems!!! Bad results, BAD BUSINESS, BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, LOW CLASS IRREPUTABLE BUSINESS!!! I wonder if Alexander, thier representative, was drunk and uneducated also? They insist on being paid by check for a reason, so you have no recourse! DO NOT PAY THEM BY CHECK!! As a repeat renter from Marco Escapes over the years, something has changed and this business (and may of their properties) are not as they seem. I've spent since Nov 2022 disputing their claims of excessive cleaning, damage, and electricity usage. Not to mention their claim that a neighbor came over to ask us to stay quiet and we refused (there was no such visit). There is no customer service. I am now involving the BBB. Pool company came out twice and there own representative came 4 separate times to try to fix pool and jacuzzi. They were not able to get it running properly. So instead of calling and talking they responded with and i quote " we don't rent to rude and uneducated people." I rented a house from Marco Escapes for the second week of Of August this year. The home was called Bella Alia. Upon arriving at the home it was immaculate and quite beautiful. Most of my dealings were with Angela who Was very accommodating. I had both my adult children and their And their spouses and children, four to be precise. This was a five bedroom home which consisted of three master suites. Unfortunately after retiring for the night we realized the air-conditioning in the upstairs rooms would not go below 75°. My six-month-old granddaughter was sweating. We called Marco Escapes and they said to keep the drapes drawn. That was no help at all. Later in the evening we got a warning on the thermostat upstairs that it needed service. I called Marco Escapes and sent them a picture of what the thermostat said. They said this warning always comes on when it's extremely hot and the air-conditioning is working.The next day the problem still existed along with other problems. The barbecue leaks gas so we immediately no longer used it,the garage door almost fell on one of our rental cars. And to top it all off they were roaches in the oven. Marco Escapes did send people out to correct these issues yet never addressed the air-conditioning issue. 95° and the air-conditioning would not cool off the upstairs. I spoke with Angela several more times and was told she would relay the message to the owner of Marco Escapes and her office manager and they would reach out to me. In addition there was no indoor dining table so we were forced to eat outside or at the indoor counter tops which could not accommodate all of us. This was surely a problem. Four days after check out I still never heard from anyone and I called repeatedly. When I told Angela I would post my thoughts on a review the owner called. He was extremely rude and explained that the air conditioner should not be below 75° as stated in the owners manual of the home. That is ridiculous!!! I told him about all the other issues and he stated he would not deal with my terroristic threats. I was appalled!! I never once threatened him. This is how they handle there customers????I paid over 6000$ for this home. Jason the owner of Marco Escapes is a horrible business man and I strongly recommend no one use them. I should have done my homework before renting with Marco Escapes. It seems I'm not the only one who experienced horrible customer service. read more

We recently stayed at Bahia Blu and had a wonderful experience with both the home and with Marco Escapes. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and courteous with all of our questions and requests. We would definitely use them again if we go back to Marco Island! read more

Their increasing added fees (see other review below) and their 3% surcharge for using AMEX is absurd, considering their price points and clientele. I'm at a loss as to how to write this review but here goes. The home we rented - Goldenrod - is an exceptional property. It has every creature comfort you could want and it's location is superb. That said, We've been staying at VRBO, etc. homes for a long, long time now and have watched this business model change year after year. When more profit was needed, they invented 'Cleaning Fees'. Then followed with 'Breakage Insurance' and other things. Well, I decided to drop my 2 cents into the fray. I have a problem with paying someone to clean up after me and still being expected to do it myself. This last trip we were informed that there would be a $225 cleaning fee. Then we were informed that if we left a dish in the sink there would be another charge. A dish or dishes left in the dishwasher would result in more charges. Pool toys left floating in the pool results in even more charges. There are multiple trash cans present which we were expected to place out at the curb on certain days and then bring back onto the property for a total of 3 of these chores in a week. To top it all off, we were told that we must strip all used beds and place all used linens in laundry room along with all used towels. These 'Must-Do's' were followed up with leaving an accumulation of more than ONE washload would result in another surcharge. It's a possibility that more than 6 people could be staying there. I can assure you that 6 or more sheets + 12 or more pillowcases + bathroom towels and pool towels and washcloths for 6 people will amount to more than 1 washload. This means that they now have you doing laundry. Maybe it's just me but all of these charges seem pretty exorbitant when coupled with the "Ever-Present" $225 weekly cleaning charge. Oh yes, I failed to mention that if you stay more than a week you're required to have the home professionally cleaned. Can you imagine what time you'd have to rise in the morning to do dishes and laundry and packing and breakfast and still be out by the "10:00 AM Mandatory Exit Time"? You'll probably do what we did and Exit the prior evening which is good for them and not so good for you. This is naturally my opinion only but it is all factual. My take is: If you wish to charge me for cleaning - Do so! However, you can't or shouldn't require me to do your job. read more

Almost a month ago my family and I decided to rent a home from Marco Escapes. I was interested in 5 or 6 of their homes that were listed on their site as available. These same homes were listed on several different sites such as: flipkey, VRBO, homeaway, and more. I sent emails to the MARCO ESCAPES website email and I sent inquiries for all the homes I liked on the other rental websites. I did not hear anything. I waited a few days and then decided to call Marco Escape's Reservation and Office number: 239-217-6300. I called several times in the morning, then again in the afternoon. No answer. I continued to call, no answer. I even tried the automated operator to reach their extensions. I left voicemails for all the rental officers. Not one answered or returned my calls. My frustration grew. Thinking that Marco Escape's phone lines and email must surely be dysfunctional, I decided to drive to Marco Island to rent one of these homes. I visited Marco Escapes at their offices at 599 South Collier Blvd. Suite 115. I was greeted by their receptionist Kathy. I told her about my struggles with reaching the company and my three hour drive from my home to be there. She seemed unsympathetic. I told Kathy that I wanted to leave a deposit for the home but she told me she would call me in 30 minutes because she needed to talk to the owner, Jason, about my rental dates. I agreed reluctantly knowing their history of answering my phone calls. Kathy offered her personal line which she assured me I could reach her at. She even showed me her cellphone. Kathy did not call me 30 minutes later. It has been 6 days since I drove to Marco Island. I have called Kathy over 8 times since our meeting. Despite telling Kathy about my countless calls, emails, inquiries, and more importantly, my three hour drive she has still not returned my calls or any of my online inquiries. Moreover, now, THREE WEEKS after my initial inquiries, I have still not received a call, text, email, or any response from anyone at Marco Escapes. read more

I have NEVER had a worse experience with customer service. I have rented homes in marco island for years and have never had an issue. This year most properties were booked for our desired dates except 2 only on the marco escapes website. It has been days of calling, emailing, and leaving messages but I have yet to receive an answer. I have tried to use the live chat feature on their website and whenever I describe my issue the chat is ended. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a rental company. Is it just me or has Marco Escapes gone WAY DOWN in recent years? My family and I have been renting from them for almost 8 years now and back in 2017 we dealt with Tina Moller and her team who were phenomenal. The homes we rented were amazing and service was top notch. This year we rented a home from them with many issues. We were told a thorough inspection was done on the home but when we moved in the garbage disposal did not work and the pull out sofa was completely broken. The entire frame was broken and the mattress looked like something that was dragged out of a dumpster. When we called to complain, management sent over an inflateable mattress that had a slow leak. My poor brother spent the entire week sleeping on a deflating mattress. When I told the representative at the agency that this was not what we had signed up for she told me that there were other bedrooms and the bed space they advertised was correct. I told her if you advertise there is a SLEEPER SOFA in the study, the assumption is that someone can actually sleep on it. Today I contacted the office about renting another property for next year and to my surprise the rental rate on that property went up by over 50% in ONE YEAR. I asked the agent why their rates are so much higher than market to which she responded that its because they only rent out LUXURY rentals. Really?? Do luxury rentals come with broken appliances and unsleepable sleeper sofas. Forget it. BTW, they also advertise on VRBO...buyer beware. read more

This year we chose Casa Domingo and it was truly exceptional in every way! Upon entering, you are immediately aware of the "lap of luxury" that awaits. We have rented vacation homes on Marco for many years through VRBO, Home Away or through an owner directly, that is until we found Marco Escapes three years ago. We have purposely rented a different ME property each year since then and we have a very hard time choosing because they are all so exceptionally beautiful. And all were impeccable upon arrival! We have never experienced any of the complaints below, in fact just the opposite. Our very first experience with ME we had a hard time figuring out the stove because it was so "new fangled" so we called them right in the middle of our dinner prep. They answered promptly and helped us get the stove on. Another year SW changed our flight so we arrived super early. The site manager let us drop off our groceries in the home before check-in time while they were still cleaning. Each home has had every amenity one would need on a vacation and more! In all the years we have been renting vacation homes (from anyone, anywhere) it has always been required to strip the beds, run the dishwasher, empty the fridge, take out the trash and treat the home with respect. We have never thought that to be a problem or an inconvenience. (Bongo Bay, Bahia Blu, Idyllic Seas) We have dealt with Angela each time and she has always been courteous, patient and very helpful. If you're going to visit Marco and want upscale home rental then this is the only place to call. They are very particular about the renters and the property before they book because they care about the experience. Having been both the renter as well as renting my property with them I can tell from my experience that the whole team cares. If something breaks at the house they are on top of things to fix the issue (and things do break unexpectedly).
