My dogs love this park. All the grass and open space to run! One loves to explore the high sections and one just loves the hidden spaces.

It's probably been a decade since I've visited this dog park so I was pleasantly surprised by how much it has changed. Some notable improvements are the shade structure and message board, several more planted trees (that have now matured) and a whole lot more grass. I actually enjoy how this dog park is geared more for the big dogs (ok I'm biased) and gives them plenty of room to run. There's also a water runoff along the rear of the park that forms a kind of creek that the dogs like to run in. Others have mentioned the annoyance of having to park along the street at the top of the hill. This doesn't bother me at all because parking is plentiful and I rather like the idea that the city took an otherwise undesirable plot of land in the middle of an urban area and turned it into a green space for pups. read more

It's not easy to give a dog park less than 3 stars...I mean, it's a dog park so it's awesome just to start, but this is the first, and hopefully only, park where my pup was just unhappy and uninterested. I'm sure this park was well intended. It's in a commercial area in a space that probably wasn't being used and there is a large open space for dogs to run which is great. There were also chairs, waterbuckets and even a kiddie pool, as well as some old defunct fire hydrants but that is really all I can think of that is positive to say about the park. Parking is odd, as other reviewers have noted and maybe no one reads the park signage but me but it was a little extra. I feel like I spent the first 10 minutes there, getting through the gate, reading all the signage and making the long, odd walk down the pathway to get to the grassy area. There are a lot of weeds and tall grasses around the edge of the park most likely crawling with ticks and the shade is limited. Also, I don't like to use personal experiences as much in reviews like these (for example, the clearly vicious dog that was there when we entered which the owner immediately leashed and DRAGGED out of the park) but there were very few dogs (not that I am surprised) and multiple people in the tree and shrub area that had no animals at all... This park would make a great place to let your fur baby out to potty if you are shopping or need a quick break, but have low expectations so you won't be disappointed. read more

I was going to the post office and this dog park was only like a block away so decided to take my dog here...somewhere he has never been. First, there are no designated parking spot, so you would have to park on street. There are plenty of spots, but be aware that it is facing a somehwat big road....make sure your dog would not jump off the car. Second, there are no seperated area for big dogs and small dogs, so if your dog is aggressive or afraid of big dogs etc, maybe this park is not the best. Otherwise the park is a very big open field so they would have so much fun running around. Finally it gets very muddy after rain, especially the bench area. Also there were so many nats in the certain areas. I would definitely avoid this place after rainy days. Overall, it is an okay dog park...it is more suitable for big dogs like to run around. My dog is too small, and all the dogs are separated in different areas so my dog did not know how to socialize. We tried it once and I would not drive here just for this dog park. I prefer the one by my house (Bear Dog Park). read more

As a charter member of the Roseville Dog Owners Group I'm thinking it might help some folks to know that Marco was the first dog park in Roseville and was essentially (bad pun yes) a bone thrown by the City Council after we complained about no dogs being allowed in any developed park. Thats right, your dog is not allowed even ON A LEASH on the turf in any of Roseville's developed parks not openly designated for dogs. Due to this restrictive ordinance the City basically had no choice when confronted by home owners paying Mello Roos taxes for neighborhood parks they essentially cannot access. Hence Marco was thought up by an ad hoc committee on which participation was very limited by the City Council. As it turned out at the time we were told Marco apparently had the most attended park opening in Roseville history and its success put 3 other dog parks to be developed into plans. It's a drainage ditch for the parking lots adjacent to the Raleys shopping center so yes seasonal flooding is built into their plan and yes it could be a lot better, but there you have it. Marco was a Roseville Police K9 who was killed accidentally in the line of duty. read more

Wow! This was Oz's first dog park outside of San Francisco, and it makes you realize how little land there is to build anything in our city. Big surprise there. Marco Dog Park is one of two main dog parks in Roseville. Judging by the other Yelp reviews and the photos, my boyfriend and I chose to come here. This place is HUGE. I can't imagine it ever getting crowded with too many dogs. There's a good amount of street parking available since the dog park is located off a side street. You walk your dog down a path and swing open a huge gate to get into the park. It's mostly a huge grassy field, partly covered by trees. FREEDOM!!! There are a few chairs for humans to sit, which gives me the impression that there aren't too many of them here at once. I saw lots of people follow their dogs around the park or interact with them in the several kiddy pools near the entrance. The kiddy pools! It was our husky puppy's first time seeing them, and he was having the time of his life. It was quite hot in Roseville that day, so cooling off in the water with other dogs was perfect. After that, he wandered around in the bushes on the opposite side of the park. It's easy to lose your dog here, though they can't escape. That side of the park isn't fenced off but instead has a high cliff. My parents have since gotten a small dog of their own, and they're not really fans of this park. They don't like that it doesn't have a separate section for small dogs, since they've encountered some not-so-friendly big dogs (and owners) here. For the most people, owners keep to themselves and just enjoy the peace and quiet with each other and their furry companion. I personally like this park and will come back next time I'm in Roseville! read more

Nice little dog park, lots of toys available for the dogs to naw on, & tons of buckets ( literally ) of water! The fountain ( for humans ) does not work, but there IS a hose if your desperate, hah! I'm a little disappointed there's no kiddie ( or doggie ) pool on site as previous pictures have shown. I brought my three fur babies to the park to burn off some energy! I have two medium sized dogs, Husky & Malinois & a Shiba Inu, who's no more than 25 lbs. Another woman had brought in a mutt of a smaller breed, probably a little smaller than my Shiba Inu & made mention of how her dog was "getting bullied".. At a dog park.. Uh huh.. No fights broke out that I was aware of, but my dogs weren't involved. That being said, there's no separate area for the smaller breeds! So if you can't hang with the big dogs, this might not be the place for you! read more

For the most part this park is a great dog park. Some people don't like the water that come from the weather drain, but my dog treats it as a whole separate area to explore. There is a hose you can rinse your dog off with if you need to. On the downside, and this seems to be the case with all of the dog parks I have gone to, my dog has been abused by other more dominant dogs and I realize that will happen. But the owners of these types of dogs that "bully" other dogs should take more responsibility for their behavior of their dogs. My dog is not perfect but if even just for a second I saw aggressive behavior from her towards another owner or dog, I would immediately and without hesitation step in and take my dog away. Please be responsible owners (you know who I am talking about there!) Positive note....99% of the owners and their dogs are great at this park though. So I will continue to come back as long as my dog still enjoys it. :) read more

Great park. Very open and the hills and brush make it seem more open trail to explore than a caged in park. Most other parks bandit will play but stay near me. Here he loves to run and explore even if by himself. Little dogs aren't separated but I like that in case you have a big dog and little dog! Plus some days bandit likes playing with the big dogs and others, he likes the small guys. I've been looking for a dog park that lets all dog sizes play in the same park. I've always driven by this park when I take my mom to her optometrist, nearby. I brought one of my dogs to this park. It's a good size park. I like the sign of the rules and all the shaded areas from the trees. It's a much better park than the one by Mahany Park. There are several kiddie pools and a couple of posts for doggy bags. This place is nice and clean. read more

I've kind of given up on Roseville dog parks. It's probably time for me to try out the Citrus Heights area... This particular park is about 5 minutes from my house which makes it relatively convenient, but I've only gone a hand full of times. The set up is odd- it's oval-shaped with hills surrounding it and trees and an odd water area that looks very dirty. I don't have an issue with this. My dog, Chloe, is up for any challenge that involves rough terrain. There is no shower stations or hoses to wash off your dog before they get back into the car to go home. It would be nice if there were some extra pools for the dogs to cool off in, but Roseville owners would probably complain about that as they did at Bear Dog Park off Pleasant Grove. And it would be REALLY nice if they fenced off a portion for smaller dogs.. there would be much, much less yapping throughout the park, both from the small dogs and annoying owners who act like their dog is going to die if they get chased and/or owners who forget they're at a dog park. Chloe is a pit bull and I've become accustomed too the judgements and stigmas that are associated with her and the breed all together. I think it's ridiculous, but I let Chloe speak for herself to anyone who will give her a chance. During the couple of times I was here, I had at least 3 or 4 fellow dog owners ask me if my dog was a pit bull, and after I'd proudly say yes, they'd respond with an "oh" or make the "oh-no-your-dog-might-viciously-attack-me" face. Although many people are accepting of the breed, it'd be nice to not get that type of reaction from others, especially at a dog park. read more

Right off of Douglas Boulevard/Sierra Gardens, this place is a little tricky to find if you're not paying attention because it's located in a ravine that is used during the rainy months. As soon as you turn on Sierra Gardens, you will see a long fence on the right side. It's right across the street from the side part of the Mervyns Department store. Pros ... 1. Huge park 2. Since it's in a ravine your dog can do a lot of climbing up the hills and get wet by running through the water located behind the line of trees 3. Lots of seating 4. Lot of hiding areas for your dog to explore because there are so many trees and bushes. Cons ... 1. No separate area for dogs under 20 pounds = the likely hood that your little toy dog will be chased. I've seen it happen at least a dozen times and it always ends with lots of yelping and owners screaming. 2. Hoses are worn out so when you want to refill the pool or the buckets, you end up getting sprayed with water because there are holes in the hose that are sadly repaired with duct tape. 3. Lack of shade in the afternoons because the trees are lined to the east instead of the west. 4. Only one side where you can get poop bags so as soon as you get there, be sure to grab one or else you'll be doing a really long walk to the other side of the park. This place is closed during winter/rainy season and usually reopens around mid-February. read more

Marco is a great late spring, summer & early fall dog park. It's centrally located on the East side, off Douglas with easy access and parking. A five acre main lawn provides plenty of play area. Fresh water is available via hose, buckets and dog pools, and they're renewed regularly by the city and volunteers. Along the Eastern edge of the park, a V gutter channels storm & irrigation runoff from surrounding businesses to the SW corner and into the city storm system. Generally there is water in the gutter year round, however in the heat of the summer, algae formations make for slippery runways, especially for bigger dogs. Volunteers usually have a heavy broom stashed along the gutter for impromptu algae maintenance. On the other side of the gutter is a tree lined 3 acre natural greenbelt and hillside for the more adventurous dog. The park is a storm water basin, and sits 20 feet below street level; some find that awkward, but it seems to make for fewer 'outside the fence' distractions, and it's the coolest place around on scorching summer evenings. The park is prone to flooding after periods of prolonged or heavy rain. These conditions make the main lawn area unusable during off months as they become saturated and muddy, except for the area surrounding the pergola on the North end. Homeless folks do gather on the perimeter, outside of the fence, but they generally keep to themselves. We don't visit many other dog parks, but find Marco to be convenient and our dog always has a great time. In the months of late March through late October, this is a great place to take your dog. read more

My dog LOVES this park... and that makes me love it too. People complain that it has weird drainage and is muddy when it rains... but fail to realize that it was and still is a flood relief ditch turned dog park. It is a nice sized area and has a wading pool for the dogs to romp in. There are always plenty of poop bags, tennis balls, and chairs. During the summer it has some shade and is usually busy in the evenings with lots of big friendly dogs. read more

Not bad! This place is HUGE! They don't separate a small/big dog side of the park so all dogs of all sizes are running around. One guy brought a big ole dog who was jumping on my son and humping all the other dogs too. Not cool! But I like this place, I'll come back again with my pug. read more

This dog park is so big. It's a great place to relax or take a few laps around the place for a little exercise. We've been to other dog parks in the past, but this place seems to have the least amount of issues or problems with bad dog behavior. With the place being so big, there is plenty of room for all the dogs to either play separately or in a pack to run around. There's even a creek in the back. The city closes this park every Thursday and during the winter which makes us usually go to saugstead across the street from royer park. For the most part, this park is really clean. Everybody picks up after their dog and there's plenty of dog bags and trash cans around. The city comes in and Moes it every Thursday and adds fresh tennis balls for all the dogs to play with. This is typically our routine after work or even on the weekends. read more

Two stars is generous for this place. It is wet, soggy, damp and pooped filled in the winter time. Summer it is 110 degrees. It is like being in a pit.(because it is, you have to walk down a slope to get in) Better than not having one in this part of town, I suppose, Only good for big dogs. No seperate park for small doggies. If your a Lab, you probably will love it though. I saw alot of semi aggressive dogs here too, and my little guy is not into cage fighting! LOVE LOVE LOVE this dog park. I have two dogs and new to the city but have had zero luck finding a good place for them to run around until I stumbled upon this park. Not only is it fairly large in size, but it is super clean, has tons of shade, plenty of fresh grass, nice chairs for pup parents to sit on, puppy poop bags/trash cans, and even dog pools with a hose to clean off and cool off your canine friends. This place is just plain gross. We came here one summer morning, and I was appalled at how dirty this park is. I watched as tons of owners didn't pick up after their pet. Then, I saw dogs running through feces. Eww. ...and they had a dog pool out because it was crazy hot weather in the Sac area! The water looked like it hadn't been changed in weeks; it was muddier than a dirty pond. Gross. I saw dogs drinking out of it. After five minutes of torturing my dog, we left. We like this park. It is surrounded on one side by a muddy water rain runoff thing... Lot's of grass to run around on, and there's always other people here. Have been here a handful of times when there are one or two aggressive dogs, you do have to pay attention. Lots of well behaved friends for your animal to meet, and lots of nice owners too. I believe this dog park is 1.5 acres. The edges are hills and the back portion does have a weather drain with water running the length of the park and it will grow algae. It will also get muddy when dirt is added to it...the center of the park has grass and there are trees that provide shade. This is a DOG PARK, NOT A KID OR PEOPLE PARK. My dog is very large and likes to explore, be free, be a dog, for a while. He can run up on the hills splash in the water to cool off or walk by my side. I'm there for him. There is a hose, many buckets of water, a doggy pool, and plenty of bags. I can clearly see the gate from all areas, which is also a plus. If you don't want ur dog to get dirty, are worried about them acting like a dog, or want a place that suits your needs more than your dog, this might not be the place for u. ;) read more

This review has entirely to do with nighttime. I must say, no lighting whatsoever inside the park and only one very long walkway in or out - No other exits AT ALL to avoid altercations of any sort. Very poor design for evenings, especially when one is alone. read more

There needs to be a fence blocking the stagnant water and sharp brush. My dog has gotten ill and on two different occasions have had horrible cuts on his paws. I do try my best to keep him out of the brush, but you can only do so much. A lot of people are gossipers there too and it's annoying to get judged for not rescuing or fixing your dog. This place also floods during the rainy times, which is a bummer because then it takes weeks for it to open back up once it does stop raining. I understand it's a flood relief ditch, but it's a bummer for people who want to take their dogs after the rainy season and it's still closed. read more

This is a lovely dog park! You can tell that the people who bring their dogs here CARE about this park. There are chairs and trees for shade. People and dogs are very friendly. This park is clean and feels safe. Parking is on the street, but that hasn't ever been a problem for us. read more

Well my dog loves this park, we go a couple times a week, but here are some things I've noticed: As mentioned in other reviews, people don't really control their dogs, then they freak out if someone else tries to discipline them. There are also the overprotective people who freak out if other dogs get near theirs. If you're overprotective, the dog park is probably not the best place to be. Some people don't have any respect for other peoples' dogs. I recently witnessed a lady kick a dog twice because he got her dirty, from what I gathered. And this dog's owner did nothing, but sit there reading his book. VERY sad. In the rainy months, it is a soggy, slushy mess and probably best to avoid. Go across town to Bear dog park, where it's higher and DRIER! Of course, there are the people who seem to think they own the park and turn their noses up if you're not "one of them". And then there are the people who bring their 2 and 3 year old kids and let them run free. This is just an accident waiting to happen. This drives me absolutely nuts, since we are, in fact, at a DOG park. If people want to let their kids run around, they should take them to a regular park. I once saw a lady letting her daughter swim in the doggie pool. NASTY! i tolerate all this out of love for my dog because she needs to run off some energy. read more

Best dog park I have ever been to. Not saying there are not more, but this one has been the best for me and my 115b squirrel chaser. We moved from the mountains so having brush and hills to explore make it nice form. I fee like there may be some Diva's or people who just don't like anything on here commenting I have been to over 20 dog parks through out CA and this one feel the lost "free" and I have never had an issues with water. read more

This is a nice dog park. Fairly long so you can throw a ball a good ways to let your dog run. It's just one park with no areas for small/large dogs to keep them separated. It has some plastic dog pools which my dog loves to cool off in. Wish they had fenced off the drainage creek from the park as you wouldn't want your dog to get in there. read more

We love this dog park. Nice people who let me girls throw balls for their dogs who fetch, lots of area for my dogs to run. Haven't had a problem, I come with a husky and Chihuahua. Doggie bags are a plus! read more

07/04/17 This dog park is by far the best in the Roseville rocklin Citrus Heights and Lincoln area! It's super long for dogs who love to run, there are plenty of chairs and benches to sit, there are 4 doggy pools so big that they all don't even fit on the concrete area, and a hose with cold clean water. The entrance is perfect, it gives dogs coming in a good minute to let out energy, versus other dog parks where owners let their "greeting dogs" sit at the entrance and antagonize dogs coming in. It really diffuses many possible fights. The best part about this park is the size! Nobody really hangs out in gangs or cliques here and the fact that small dogs are welcome is perfect for my large dogs to be social with them in an open area. If you're a dog owner who likes to keep your dogs on a leash, judge other dog breeds or bring your kids and be upset that dogs trampled them, stay away please! Just like any other dog park, you enter at your own risk. read more

I love this dog park! It is probably the biggest in the Roseville area. Every time I have been there all the dogs have been friendly and non aggressive. They is plenty of running water and bowls. There is a lot of balls and open space for fetch! The only thing I could warn you about is the creek area. The water back there is pretty gross and I wouldn't want my dog drinking it. Other than that.. Probably one of my favorite dog parks in Roseville!!! read more
