My wife, her grown daughter and I went to Marcine's for the Fri. night fish fry. They had a selection of 2 or 3 piece fried or baked Cod or Walleye. Fried 2-piece cod 8.50. Baked 9.50. 3-piece added 2.00. Walleye I think added 4.00, but maybe less. All included choice of fries, baked, or hash browns with onion and cheese (called the Cowboy) plus cole slaw and roll. We all had the lightly battered fried cod which was very good and lots of it. 2-piece would have been enough for me, but I went for the 3-piece which actually had 5-pieces (a lot of fish!). At 6:30 PM the place was almost full--wide range of ages from families with kids to seniors. About 8, 25 yr-old women huddled in one section of the bar in the corner. Few guys about same age. One pool table but no one playing. Good size, clean, older place with ample U-shaped bar. 4 larger tv's playing hunting channel which we all found graphically unpleasant--nothing wrong with hunting, but bloody scenes didn't exactly mix with dinner, and it was a bit much for kids we thought! Think they could have found a more neutral outdoorsy channel or sports. Baked potato was excellent, and "Cowboy" hash browns memorable. Cole slaw fresh and not overly done with the mayo. Roll was standard plain bar variety, but fresh. Bar tab consisting of 2 ea. glasses of Spotted Cow and 1 bottle of Bud Light only came to $8. Try that in Madison! We were greeted by our waitress within 6-7 minutes after seating ourselves. Food came out within about 20 minutes after ordering and was hot. Waitress was attentive--asked twice how it was and if we needed anything. They have shrimp night on Tues. for 50 cents ea. Wing night on Wed. for 25 cents ea. with 9 available preparations. Pizza night Thurs. 12" loaded with 4 toppings for $12. I would go back in a heartbeat, but my wife and her daughter were so grossed out by the hunting scenes playing on all the tv's, it's a one-time experience I'm afraid. read more
