I stumbled upon this cool farmer's market, which spans several blocks and has a mix of produce, meat, cooked food, and clothing/jewelry/trinkets. This is definitely very local; I'm pretty sure I was the only American there, but the workers at the booths seemed to know some English.
I got food from La Cuisine d' Irene. The staff was nice, chatted to me in their limited English, and gave me a couple free cod balls (I didn't even notice till I got home with the food!). Here's what I got:
* Samosa crevettes - 3.5 stars
This had a soft filling, but it seemed like mostly potato (if there was shrimp, it was very minced). This did have a nice, crisped shell.
* Samosa boeuf pimentes - 3 stars
This was ok; the beef was packed rather loosely.
* Cod balls - 3.5 stars
These had a chewy texture.
* Aubergines - 4.5 stars
Super tasty! Very soft, full of flavor, and a great filling. read more
