I'm a HUGE FAN of open-air markets and I'm sad I was only able to go to a few while I was in Paris…read more However this was DEFINITELY my favorite one!! It truely was an open air market and had SO MANY stands!! Each one was so unique and selling a variety of food from cheese, flowers, fresh pasta, seafood, tons of fruits, and etc. We came super early because we had a lot of stuff to do that day, but there was still a lot of stands already open at 730-8am. However it was relatively empty so I'm not sure if it gets crowded later. We took about 30 minutes to stroll through the market but I could have spent more time oogling at all the yummy deliciacies. We picked up some breakfast foods here but I forget what stand. We got some pate from one stand, some delicious, super soft bread from another, some really juicy pear and peaches, and had a mini breakfast picnic. Everything was very reasonably priced and the food was super yummy. We also went to Rue Cler later but I didn't like it as much since it didn't really have an open market feel (maybe I went to the wrong place?) It was much more pricey there as well and I didn't see many options. Another plus is that this is near the tour eiffel park, so we walked over (about 10 min walk) to enjoy our breakfast! :)

NOTE: i did an informal study/poll of this market one wednesday and discovered that only 5 of the 106 vendors that day were the producers or even remotely 'local'. generally, don't be fooled by parisian market places into thinking you're buying from farmers; mostly you're not (marche BIO des batignolles being a big exception here). mostly it's just more fun to have a face to face interaction with a person you're buying your food from, even if they're not the farmer. anyway, i did find some of the BEST HONEY SOAP ever here and that was indeed local & straight from the soap makers. also, markets are always good places to find delicious street food.

One of my favorite outdoor markets in France. The atmosphere…read moreis calmer than at Marche Bastille and the vendors are usually pretty friendly. This market runs for a couple of blocks along Raspail, starts at the entrance to Metro stop Rennes and runs on down the street. Open on Tuesday & Friday and the organic market is on Sunday. They also have one of the best rotisserie chicken places ive tried anywhere, its an Asian man who owns that booth and his rotisserie chicken and roasted potatoes are just amazing, a small chicken is only about 6 euro which is a bargain in Paris. The minute I get home I have to dig into it even if its still breakfast time. Ohhhh and the cheese vendors are also plentiful as are the vegetable vendors, all of its so fresh and tasty!

What's left to do on a Sunday when most of everything g is closed?…read more .... Visit an Open Market that sells Organic Produce and food items! Walk the short length of the market and I'm sure you'll find something you need or not need but want! Open on Sundays from 9.00am to 1.30pm. We were on the hunt for Poulet Roti.. the rotisserie chicken that's been talked about! Found three stalls that sell it. Compared to the poulet roti we had in Lyon, France the previous Sunday... I'd say lyon wins... but this is still good! We took it back to our hotel and enjoyed our little picnic in the room. (It was raining outside).. ok maybe we ate it there because table manners flew out that parisian window! Bahhhhh! Humbug!

Both my wife and I supported and bought a few items, etc. So many food options. Fresh produce, meats, flowers, etc. Wineries here representing their vineyards also. All different kinds of merchandise for sale - Thrift items, to "dollar" store items, to custom made jewelry and leather pieces, etc. Ambiance - See all my pictures. This market is HUGE!! Way bigger than I expected. Maybe the biggest market we have been to since arriving in France. Public toilets nearby, my first discovery. I felt like a kid trying to figure it out. FYI - The toilet cleans itself after each use, so be patient. Oh, and I can NOT recommend the urinal... Service - Good. They are here to sell. Price - From inexpensive to expensive. Depends on what you buy, eat, or drink. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success.

My swan song from a disappointing trip in the bird department. Off the eye test, it doesn't get much better. The beautiful sight of tissi's rotating in front of a fire breathing oven, potatoes in the tray below collecting the chicken juices as they fell, had me ready to run around the Bastille plaza yelling "LE MOUVEMENT!!". I thought this was going to be my first high level bird in the City of Light. Much to my chagrin, the one I got was just lukewarm. I was ready for my fingerprints to be fully burned off. There was so much potential here, but as always, I have to judge what's in front of me. If I don't have my integrity I have nothing. It landed at an 8.1/10 on the restaurant scale which is good, but if it was hot it could have been up there with the greats in the rare 9 territory. Unrealized potential is one of the most depressing things in the world. IG @johnny.novo Tiktok @jnov__ Substack @johnnynovo
