Was in the mood to visit this Asian grocery store…read more First off there is tons of free parking and public transit is just outside. Thé place itself was packed and needs a bit of tender loving care. Saying that the store produce was nothing more than top notch. You can find all your traditional Asian produce along with more non Asian produce. I went there for the duck and was lucky enough to pick some up. This was probably the best duck I have ever eaten. So moist and full of flavors. I should of gotten two. I also wanted to try some bbq pork but they were sold out. There was so much to choses from and all looked amazing and super fresh Went there for the duck and pork.

Damn those ducks are insanely difficult to find these days !!! What is happening?? Why arent there ducks?? who ate them all?? Lolol Nonetheless... they had a guy cutting up the last few ducks he had left for the day and he was super friendly he even picked out the best one for us. The place is cool they have lots of asian varieties of pastries, raw meats, fish and all kinds of live fish you can choose to cook fresh from the sea lol The fruits and veggie section is quite extensive as well lots of unique items at this place ! The pantry aisles are filled with products you will never find at a regular grocery chain store Overall, I think this place is by far the best in the city and there's no insane chaotic line ups Pricing: super affordable and good sales ! Definitely recommend

I have no idea what the rule is about bringing packaged foods back to the U.S., but I wanted to buy so much stuff I used to keep in my Italian pantry! Next visit to Montreal we plan to stay in the Little Italy area and shop here on day one. Even if we have to eat it all before we leave town. We literally stumbled upon this grocery store. Established in 1954, two brothers introduced Montreal to Italian products. Today their children have taken over and it seems to be a very popular neighborhood market based on the number of customers shopping during our visit. Bakery, deli, meat counter, dairy, produce. All the sections you expect in a traditional grocery store. The breakfast sweets. The Chocolate. Whole rabbit in the meat counter. So much pasta! Oil, balsamic, sauce. I just need to go back. If you cook Italian, you should be shopping here. Actually, if you eat, you should shop here.

The variety of brand names of imported Italian tomatoes, pasta and cheeses is staggering. Needless to say Milano's will always be on my list of stops when I'm in Montréal.

We didn't finish our selection at 8pm (the closing time) but almost at the end. However, there was one employee very rushed push us to leave, we just have one or two item need to select. She didn't want to help but only spoke loudly to us just the store need to be closed, but based on my experience no store in Canada push customer to leave as long as customer step into the store before the closing time. My wife is pregnant, she couldn't move fast and felt sad and angry about this thing. There is no respect from the the employee at this store. Please avoid this store. It was really a bad bad experience.

There was also a hardware section of household goods, frozen and a big bonus. An open concept restaurant located in the grocery store. It looked as though locals were enjoying a Saturday lunch when I arrived. The smells of wonderful pork bone soup filled the air! Back to the grocery store two blocks away is Kim Phat. So one would think how the hell can they possibly compete with such a Vietnamese powerhouse as KP. It's like the David and Goliath tale. Obviously there's an allure to shopping here as people were coming and going. Parking is to a minimum and there was a guy attending and trying to control parking as I was coming in. Selection was more than adequate for my Asian food needs. Some interesting discoveries: 1) dried mud fish. Not sure how one would cook a dish using. Never tried this before but googled it and it looks like a devilish creature living in a muddy landscape far far away. 2) vegetarian shark fin. As many shark lovers have cried afoul of Chinese and their celebration of shark fin soup. Don't judge me I grew up with real SFS. With the veggie version I'm glad Kei Phat supports this socially conscious move. Pamela Anderson or the PETA individuals would be proud as well. I would definitely return as its a good experience to come and shop then eat lunch or vice versa in the restaurant.
