Place Montreal Trust is linked to the Underground City of Montreal and the metro network as well. Inexpensive options here would be stores like Dollarama and McDonald's, making this shopping mall a value stop as compared to the Eaton center next door.

The good: Metro floor level still looks more modern than the other metro levels from the other levels. Lots of walking space. Occasionally have art events on metro level floor. The bad: Exit doors towards metro have revolving doors, not a good thing if you are in a hurry. Level floors still have the important stores but the rest is pretty unnecessary. Missing a flag store (Ailes de la Mode closed down), even SAQ reduced their size. Sadly, like l said before, Complexe Les Ailes is a simple pass through, between other malls. Complexe Les Ailes is a weird mall. It looks grand and opulent, but the stores are nothing special…read more The mall is actually where the old Eaton's used to be (sniffle sniffle, when they closed, it was really the end of an era). There was an anchor store called Les Ailes de la Mode (after which the complex is named) which opened in the early 2000s and in its heyday was the cat's meow. It was a high end department store with several restaurants in it, and if I recall correctly, it even had a carousel. They carried designer labels. Then a few years later something drastic happened and the once upscale department store turned into a discount clothing store that sold clothes that you would see at Stitches and Fairweather (and while Stitches never sold high quality clothes, I do mean the Fairweather of the naughts up to present day. Back in the 90s Fairweather actually had better quality clothes, especially their house line, Beechers Brook, and their target demographic was young business professionals. It was a younger version of Braemar (another blast from the past, lol, which I would compare to present day Laura and Melanie Lyne). Anyway, I was so sad and so confused. What happened to Les Ailes de la Mode?!? Then in the late naughts or early/mid teens (I forget exactly when), Les Ailes de la Mode closed altogether, so since then Complexe Les Ailes has been without an anchor store. The mall now has Forever 21, Sephora, Naturalizer, Jean Coutu, and SAQ among its tenants. Gone is the Axara, even the Terra Nostra is gone. As such, I personally find that there's nothing cool about this mall anymore. When I was last there in December 2018 they were undergoing renovations. So maybe it will regain the grandeur it once had. I am hopeful. So now I pretty much just pass through Complexe Les Ailes when I'm going from The Eaton Centre to Promenades Cathedrale. It is a part of the RESO underground pathway and is connected to the Metro system.

I have visited this Place many times, this last time to see an acrobatic show put together by the Circus festival of 2023. The place at street level has many outdoor restaurants, gardens, benches and places to sit and relax. This plaza serves as the main and official headquarters for Royal Bank of Canada, Canada's Largest Bank. It is a 617 ft, 47-stories, cruciform office tower. The complex is a nexus for Montreal's Underground City, the world's busiest, with indoor access to over 1,600 businesses, numerous subway stations, a suburban transportation terminal, and tunnels extending throughout downtown. A counter-clockwise rotating beacon on the rooftop lights up at night, illuminating the surrounding sky with up to four white horizontal beams that can be seen as far as 31 mi away.
