I don't want to sound like a sourpuss here, among all the glowing reviews, especially for a shop…read morethat is clearly independently and lovingly run. But, I do need to advise anyone who is unwaveringly accustomed to the Italian and Portuguese bakeries of New England (at least in the 1980s), and similar places, the pastries here aren't quite at that level. The pastries I tried were a little dense and shriveled, with a slight sour taste (which could've also been due to some uneven baking, erring on the overbaked side). In an apple filled item, the small amount of apples weren't quite soft and sweet enough, as well. Overall, the pastries were nearer to those of a very talented home baker than the polished work of a traditional professional pastry shop. Of course, for this specific region, this will be an enjoyable stop. With that in mind, I'm not surprised there are long lines; it must be very exciting to encounter a shop like this for the first time. There are very few other bakeries making pastries of this type, much less good ones. It's very, very hard to make excellent pastries. But, if you come from a land rich with bakeries, just set your expectations appropriately. Plus, there is the critical difference between New England and North Carolina bakeries: Would you rather have pastries that are sensational from sullen and unpredictably snappish people? ...or pastries that are decent and charming from laid-back and friendly people?

Nice countet space with bakery items displayed, a cooler with cold beverages, and inside & patio seating. Friendly & helpful staff who stayed busy preparing drink orders for a steady flow of customers. We (party of 4 plus one child) had different types of drinks, some hot, some cold and shared a desert. My selection was a Chai Latte, not bad, maybe a little hotter would have been better. My wife ordered a drip coffee, which they made a fresh pot for her. Which was nice. Our desert waz not bad, a little dense, but flavorful. Was not my choice, so maybe bias- LOL. Seemed to be very popular and a nice crowd chillin inside & out, made for a good vibe.

No frills and thrills, just some tables, chairs and a couple couches. Fine by me! The coffee speaks for itself. I opted for a hot pistachio cream latte. It was well balanced, not too sweet at all. I enjoyed the bites of pistachio topping. I did not try a pastry today but they all looked delicious. There was only one barista at 830am so it took a while to get my coffee. If you're in a rush this might not be a place you'd want to stop by on the way to work. But if you have time, it's worth the wait. I gave it 4 stars because the floor was very sticky when I visited. We hadn't had coffee this way since our Greece trip in 2019 so we went to see if it was legit. As soon as we walked in we were in awe of the dessert spread that you walk past to get to the counter. The cakes looked SO moist and delicious! There were so many tantalizing flavor combos, but what stopped me in my tracks were the New York Rolls. Think giant crispy stuffed croissants! I ordered the Pistachio Cream one and no lie, it was 6 inches across and 2.5-3 inches tall. They asked if I wanted it heated (umm yes) and it was AHMAZING.i also ordered the fig and honey latte while my husband ordered the Turkish coffee. So good and unique! In fact, our visit was so good that 8 days later I chose Fig and Olive Cafe as a hang out spot for friends and I to gather for brunch. We all got the other three flavors of the New York Roll (Chocolate Hazelnut, Fig and Honey, and Biscoff Cookie) and shared them. I got the Pistachio Crème iced coffee and it was also excellent! 10/10 recommend these pastries! We had the opportunity to sit at the cafe from 9am-12:30 and we sat in cozy leather couches and enjoyed ourselves quite nicely! Staff were friendly and helpful.

I have to get a medium and a small to make what I would get at other coffee shops which ended up being almost $13.
