I am so confused why this place does not have more positive Yelp reviews. Walked in to get my husband a haircut on Thursday afternoon. There were two barbers busy at work, sat and wait 10-15 minutes and Rodger was the next available and took my husband next. Husband showed him a past photo he liked of himself and Rodger said he could definitely give him a fade and trim the trim the top. It took about 45 minutes because there was lots of chatting about life and getting to know one another which I think it 100% better then getting a 15 minute mediocre haircut that's never the same at other locations. After looking at several places I decided on here. Glad I did, the owner is very friendly and has cutting hair since the 80s he knows what he's doing. I have been looking for a decent barber shop, and decided to give Marcelino's Barber Shop a try. Dana cut my hair, she was very nice, did a great job, and gave me a short story of the history of the shop. I had a great time, and I believe I found the barber shop I was looking for. I only saw 3 barbers and they all seem to be very friendly and nice, they don't seem to rush to finish cutting your hair, they take their time and to make sure you are satisfied. I use to buzz cut my for many years, then decided to grow it out. Came in here a few weeks ago and was helped by Diana. She was very nice, friendly, and did a very good job on my first real haircut in years! I came in again today after looking at some of Dana's previous work. I needed to get my son a haircut on the fly and most places are appt only right now. I found this place of Yelp and drove over since they accepted walk ins. I parked in the lot off of the side street and had no idea the entrance was facing south on Bonita. We found the door and walked in and I'll be honest...it's truly old school so I was worried they wouldn't do a good job on my son's hair. We sat down and waited for a few minutes and then we were welcomed into Dana's chair. She is super cool and did a great job on my sons hair. She reassured me and was super professional. I have been coming here for about 12 years. This is a great family owned shop that has been here for decades! The people are very friendly here and remember your name. This is the type of family atmosphere that has kept this place in business and will continue on for many more years. No fancy modem furniture or 12 plasmas and a juice bar, just a clean lookin barber shop with 5 stalls, a plasma tv, magazines galore to read, a gumball machine, and great people. If there's a wait, you can hit the BofA a block over to go get your cash or run across the street to Starbucks to get a frappacino. Hours: Tues to Friday 8:00am-5:30pm Saturday 8:00-4:30pm Closed on Sunday and Monday Haircut: $15.00 (pretty much same as or less than you'll pay at most places nowadays unless your buddy cuts your hair for free in your backyard!) I always get my hair cut from Roger. Great guy, great stories, and most importantly great clean haircut. Also, as a bonus...he uses the ol school barber's razor and clean shaves the back and sideburns with the hot cream! What Supercuts does that?! Haha. Left my son to have a haircut and was shocked to see the end result when he got home. The haircut was so bad everyone who saw it after made a negative comment. It was so bad a rookie or even a person with bilateral cataracts or glaucoma can do a better job than what he has done. I then called the shop and spoke with the man who gave my son the haircut. I decided to give them a chance to rectify what was done vs writing a negative review so we agreed to come back at 9am the next day. My son and I were in the shop at 0855 and was there until 0925. I asked the other staff if she can call and check what time he is coming in and I was told he never answers his phone when they call him. We waited 30 minutes trying to give them a chance to rectify what was done but it was all a waste of time. He never showed up on the agreed time. Hate doing negative reviews but they deserve this. There are better options out there so try to avoid this place unless you like wasting your time and money. The hairdresser at another shop who fixed what was done also made sarcastic comments about the haircut. read more

We have known the Marcelinos since 1983, when my me, my dad and my son use to go to him for our haircut. Now my grandson goes there too, fourth generation. Marci's son, Roger runs the show now. Marci passed away early last year. This is an excellent family owned family friendly, mom and pop, honest to goodness old fashioned barber shop. Rogers does all kinds of fancy hair styling. I am super pick when it comes to my hair and they always want to make sure your happy before you leave not push you out of the seat and be bothered when your not happy. Roger is the BEST. I was referred by a friend with a toddler to go to him. It's a good ol' fashion barber shop- not typically the place you'd think to bring your 3yr old, but Roger was so good with him.
