Let me start this review first by saying finding this salon was completely out of a dire need. I am a "creature of habit", I have been going to the same salon for over eight years. Seeing the same hair dresser every six weeks. Same color cut and so on. You get the idea. I was able to make an appointment same day (which is incredible given that I know this is not the norm). I received a cut from Jax. I was extremely nervous but I needed some life in my hair. Jax and I chatted prior to the cut and I explained my situation. He did an awesome job explaining what type of artist he is. I really appreciated his suggestions and went with them. I think he cut off about 3-4 inches and dang, I am so happy with the results. He was super cool to chat with too. I didn't feel awkward at all. He also introduced me to Lindsay for future color. She and I chatted with what was done to my hair and I am excited to get a color done in the near future. I appreciated everything that was suggested and all of the people I interacted with. i recently got my haircut last week and i'm so glad i got a $25 discount from their website. the woman on the phone was so nice and asked me questions about my hair type and such to team me up with the correct hair stylist; i was teamed up with Jessica. the place was modern and they also offer nail services. i didn't look for much else they offer. at any salon, they ask what you're looking for and with all things i said i liked and disliked, it came out that i just wanted/needed a trim (haha!). she insisted that i should even out the ends of my hair so it would all be one length instead of it being uneven. i kind of hesitated but gave in. then i told her specifically, "i'm Asian and have Asian textured hair so i need a razor cut. i also don't like blunt cuts so make my hair not noticeable that it's all one length." she asked if it was ok to cut with scissors, i said no. she then suggested texturized shears, i said no. now i've been to many hair salons (locally, domestically, and internationally) to see what works for me. sometimes i find one but then i move away and there goes that salon. i still have yet to find one in MN. so frustrating!! i said, please use a razor. she finally gave in. after my hair cut, my hair looked blunt and i was unhappy. even though i saw her use a razor, i still asked, was this razor cut? she had to redo it all and make my ends wispy and not blunt. she seemed annoyed and was really rough with me. probably because i wasn't agreeing with anything she was saying/suggesting. the only thing i did take her up on was the framing face pieces (which were not cut correctly either)! total bad experience. if i were to come back, i'd have to have a coupon, which they do give you upon entering for your next visit, and a different hairstylist. maybe the asian hairstylist guy that was there, he kept looking over to see what was going on. pro: $25 discount for first time visitors cons: my entire experience read more

I had a color done with Ashley she was great!! I love my color and I would recommend her to anyone super friendly and did a good job! The salon was able to get me in the day I called which was awesome!! This salon is a little different than others you have to book your blow dry or cut separately which I didn't know at first which is ok but I do now! It's nice you can choose how much you want to get done and pay for but you have to use a different person for each as a heads up! I will for sure be going back to see Ashley! I was pretty nervous to go somewhere different but my regular stylist just got married. I googled salons near me & read positive reviews so I made my choice to book here. I didn't realize the color & cut would be by different people but I was fine with that. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my hair!!! Chloe was my colorist, I had shown her a few different pictures & she gave me her recommendations which I went along with. She was very professional, knowledgeable & efficient!! It turned out AMAZING!! Madi was my stylist, she asked me question's to ensure she was doing exactly what I wanted. It was the BEST haircut I have had in a long time! The only downside was the receptionist. I waited to be checked in, informed me that usually she would give me tour of the salon & show me where the beverage area was but she couldn't since she was the only one at the desk at the time. I sat & waited for 10 minutes & decided to ask about it. The receptionist realized she had checked in " the wrong person." Other than that, on the result of loving my hair color & style I recommend Chloe & Madi as they are EXCELLENT at what they do. read more

*Update* I have now switched salons because MarcDaniel has jacked up the prices for all of their stylists. The price for my haircut went up $18 (from $36 to $54) with no warning whatsoever. I'm sorry but $54 is a ridiculous price for a haircut, especially just a trim, and to not give any of your clients a heads up is unacceptable. It's too bad really, because I did like the place, and my stylists were awesome. I just can't justify paying that much. *Original post* I went here because I had a coupon from Recyclebank.com for a free Kerastase treatment and wanted to try it out. I needed a cut and color as well. Here's a rundown of the good and the bad: The Good: 1. The price! I got a full cut and color for around 80 dollars (plus the Kerastase treatment, a $25 value, for free). And it was a good, high quality cut and color, from knowledgeable stylists! 2. The service. I had Lindsay and Holly as my stylists, and they were both very nice and knew what they were doing! The Bad: 1. The layout of the salon. When I got there, there was no parking spots on the street in the front, so I had to go around back to park in the lot. This was fine, I had no problem with it. But when I came in the back door, I was basically smack in the middle of the salon! At first I thought I'd made a mistake and came in the door just for employees or something, but I turned around and the hours were listed on the door and everything. I couldn't find the front desk at all, the salon was like a maze! Finally I awkwardly walked up to somebody and asked where the front desk was, and she kindly showed me. After I got checked in, they pointed me to the waiting area, which was randomly in the center of the salon...so that was weird. The whole place is just super confusing! 2. There were no swatches available to choose a hair color. I am particular about the shade of red that I want, and when I asked for swatches to show the colorist what I had in mind, she said they didn't have any. Really? She gave me some magazines to find an example of the color I wanted. Luckily I found the right shade, but that's just unprofessional and awkward. Despite the bad things about the place, I will definitely go back solely for the price I payed for the quality of hair care I received. I've been a client at Marc Daniel Salon for 5 years or so. All of the stylists do a great job. I see Angie for my hair color. She discusses with me my latest color idea before she starts. I've been a redhead, blond, platinum blonde, brunette, and every time I have been satisfied with the outcome. Megan cuts my hair. I have very thick hair. Megan always gives me a great hair cut. I currently am sporting a shorter hairstyle. People always are complimenting my color and cut. The rest if the staff also seems to be very knowledgeable if the current trends, and techniques of the trade. I highly recommend Marc Daniel if you want to look and feel great! read more

I've done business with this salon for a good number of years getting everything from eyebrows, manicures and pedicures, high lighting, permanents, total die jobs, hair cuts and pretty much every service offered there. During my last visit my clothing was stolen during the procedure and I left in blizzard condition with no outer clothing. When I reached the owner of the salon he was dismissive and rude, telling me not to bother him again. Having been a member of the business community for over 30 years I was totally shocked at the treatment I received from him, the rudeness and total lack of manners. There are many good salons in Maple Grove without risking putting money in the pocket of someone who would treat their customers in this manner. BAD BAD BAD Worst hair cut ever! The stylist did not listen to a word I said, in fact did the opposite, kept saying he knew what I was asking, but had to do this first. The only way to fix it would be to go shorter. I even showed him a picture of myself(no a sample) with how I like my hair. Now no choice but to let i grow out so I can find another stylist to do it right. Don't try to contact the managers to try and schedule a wedding party - NOBODY will get back to you. I'm absolutely shocked at the lack of response from the managers. We've reached out no less than 5 times and have yet to hear from someone. We're literally begging them to take our business (because the bride loves her stylist who unfortunately happens to work at this place). When I called the number to reach the manager, all I could find was a snotty receptionist who gave a VERY insincere "Ummmm Sorry?" and basically hung up on me. Don't bother emailing them using the website's email address either - it's doesn't work either. Unfortunate as I've been here years ago and it used to be top notch. Trust me and visit Simonson's - or even Fantastic Sam's. You'll be guaranteed to have better service there. You've lost a huge amount of business MarcDaniel - due to your horrible management/service. I was a regular at MarcDaniel for a couple of years but two things happened that have sent me back out looking for a new salon. First the price jumped from $40 to $45. $40 was already my cut-off as I think that's plenty to pay especially when you add a tip to it. The other thing was my stylist, Erin, who I really liked both for her talent and her personality left the salon. Apparently she decided to no longer cut hair (if anyone out there knows that Erin is cutting somewhere else, please let me know!). Made a 12:30 appointment for my daughter. $28 for a kids haircut seemed a little much but figured we would give the salon a try. Arrived at 12:22, asked at 12:37 and was told it would be a little longer, asked who our stylist would be and she pointed her out....she had just started cutting someone's hair. I have gone to this salon for a number of years and spent a great deal of money on pedicures, hair cuts, hair coloring. My last visit was February 24th and I ended up going home without my coat because it was taken by another client. The coat they left was obviously not able to be mixed up with mine because of the odd bathroom rug look collar. The girls at the front desk were very nice and were calling all the people who had been in that day to have them check the coats they left with. They told me the owner, Daniel, would be in Wednesday and would call me about it. He didn't call and when I contacted them to find out what was happening he was extremely rude and unconcerned my loss. I wouldn't deal with them again for anything. I still don't have my coat and gloves, they've never contacted me and he made it clear he wasn't going to compensate me in any way. I went home in a beginning snow storm with no coat and haven't even received an apology. If you have any trouble with anything at this salon expect to be treated rudely and dismissively. read more
