She told the doctor I stopped taking it. That's NOT what I said. The same nurse didn't list all the allergies I told her in that visit. I asked the office to note the allergy because I had an upcoming procedure. The front desk asked me if I was telling them to notify my PCP and I said no I was telling them so they don't give me meds I'm allergic to under my procedure with THEM. I asked if what they were giving me before the procedure would be effective because I had issues with similar medications and they said it would be effective. Sure enough, it wasn't and I had to call the on call doctor at 2 am for advice due to a horrible reaction (which my other doctor said was an allergy in hindsight) The administrative staff was very snarky when I asked for an authorization for my procedure. They asked me to pay a hefty amount of money for the procedure. They said I would be refunded the remaining amount afterwards. Then sent me 3 different bills where my original payment was not applied like I discussed. I asked for clarification on this with an office manager who conveniently was in a meeting every time I called regardless of the time of day. When the finally called back she said she had no idea about the 3 bills but then told me what I owe. I asked how she came to that conclusion she said to add the 3 bills together and I that the total did not equal to what she said. She started talking over me and yelled. When I asked her to stop speaking over me she hung up on me. Terrible experience all around.

My husband called 911 and although I was in agony I was aware how great the ambulance people were: Amazing, and once we go to Stony Brook U Hospital everyone was terrific. I asked people their names but sorry to say I can't remember them. I will say PA Kathryn Walton was amazing. She did an awesome job stitching up my laceration, and she was so kind, professional and comforting. Dr. Brian McMahon was THE NICEST doctor! He took such great care of me. He was so considerate and I knew I was in great hands. I can't say enough wonderful things about these two physicians. Additionally, Everyone I came into contact with was amazing........nurses, aids, transport people, Xray and Cat Scan techs. I had a very long recovery, and thought about how fortunate I was to get the exceptional care that I did from all these people. God bless them, and Thank you to all of them. This was an experience I will long remember, especially because of the care I received.

I feel bad for the patients who think they are getting #1 care here and don't know that there is better. If it's your only choice bc you couldn't get into a better residency, I'm so sorry - the match is rough. Or as a patient, if you live in the beautiful Three Village area and need to come here, I hope you have a simple illness, like an uncomplicated pneumonia. Otherwise, it would be in your best interest to receive care elsewhere where the physicians are more curious and strive for better quality care from the top down. Fertility treatment can be emotionally overwhelming, and the entire team here at San Román fertility goes above and beyond to create an environment that feels supportive, compassionate, and reassuring. Dr. Gabriel San Román is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and thorough, always taking the time to explain each step, answer questions, and make sure I felt heard and understood. I never felt rushed or dismissed. Every concern, big or small, was treated with respect and care. Merry, Kathy, the entire office staff are just as exceptional. They are kind, responsive, and understanding, and they truly recognize the emotional weight that comes with this journey. Appointments are well organized, communication is clear, and I always felt supported between visits. I am deeply grateful for the care I've received here. This practice treats you like a person, not just a patient, and that makes all the difference. I would wholeheartedly recommend this office to anyone navigating fertility care and looking for both medical excellence and genuine compassion.

When I was recently looking for him to possibly transfer a 3rd embryo in the future- I came to find out that you can indeed transfer over to his office with your embryos if you want him to take on your future care. When i found out he wasn't with NW anymore I was so sad because theres no one else I trust more. He's 2 for 2! I have my two beautiful children through IVF with the guidance of Gabe. He makes you feel calm, confident and at ease going through such a procedure. I always tell friends that are going through fertility troubles that IVF isn't such a big deal, but maybe thats because I had the best doctor. From your appointments with medications, procedures, retrievals and transfers his bedside manor was notable. I think that is the most important part about staying calm and in control of the process.
